"My experience with Velocity Micro was pleasant from beginning to end. Selecting and upgrading my system of choice was very easy. The process was well laid out. When I received my PC it was well packaged and all the contents were nice and organized. Last but not least, my system runs like a dream! "
"Read about their note magix B50 laptop in a computer magazine and I figured it was a good thing for the money. Well I ordered it on Monday and it came in today (Friday) so the process time and shipping was excellent. After taking the laptop out of the packaging I see that it is much more beautiful in person than the pictures they have on the website. Everything has gone smoothly and the computer looks, works, and feels great. Velocity Micro is a great company that I would recommend to my friends not only for a good price but for great support also. They kept me informed of everything that was going on with my system so that I had no questions. Well thanks a lot Velocity Micro, you made me one happy college student!"
"My computer was supposed to have shipped by 21 Aug 2004. By 13 Sep 2004 I did not have my computer and had not heard from Velocity Micro. It took a week of phone calls and e-mails to find out whatwas going on. Only then did I find out that the computer had been delayed because the video card was out of stock. Going through the hassle of not getting phone calls returned and having no idea of why I had not heard anything about my order cast doubt on the quality of service of their company. If their costumer service people can't even keep their buyers informed that their order won't ship on time what other areas are they failing to follow through on? I cancelled my order.
Velocity Mirco did NOT offer "...to ship your system instead with the X800 Pro and replace the card with the correct model when available." Please don't make claims that you did not make. The fact that you somehow couldn't contact me via a valid and working e-mail address still does not explain why it took a WEEK of phone calls and e-mails on my part before your company would actually explain to me what was going on."
"Great company! Very satisfied with the computer. I purchased a Athlon 64 FX system and it couldn't be better. Even though the price was a little more than I wanted to pay, it was deffinitly worth it in the long run. The last company I delt with was very rude and very cheap. I(did not)BuyPower with them(hint hint). But this company is awsome. Would deffinitly buy from them again.
Update:
I have had to use the tech support because the sound card and graphics card became defective. Quick responses and they sent me replacement parts pronto. Computer works just like new again. Highly satisfied."
"I ordered a custom system on 7/29/04. They said shipping date would be 8/10/04 and actually I received my system on 8/10/04. I'm very satisfied with computer and I ordered over the internet and it was painless. Velocity kept me posted with e-mails about my system. computer quality is top notch and it is packed for shipping very well. Very satisfied and their prices are good. "
"Bought a new machine from these guys. I ordered all the latest stuff, cpu, graphics card. They even the hard to find ATI X800 Pro. Company was great from order through delivery.
Ship date was 2 days later than what was estimated, but that's no big deal. I was able to call in each day and the reps were real patient always going to the shop floor to find out where my box was in the process.
When I got my box, everything was great, including the backup DVD they sent which restores everything to original ship status. Included documentation was good and they also sent me all the excess parts as well that come with the retail parts they use.
I would highly recommend these guys and when I need to order again, I will definately consider them again."
"I ordered a custom system from velocity micro on 7/14. Arrived today 7/30. The only problem was that the dvd-rom drive cable became disconnsected during shipping. I called tech support and spoke to a technician in less than a minutes wait. Was patiently guided through the troubleshhoting process and reconnected the cable easily. The system is wonderful. I am highly satisfied with my purchase from this vendor."
"Well, I bought the B50 Ultra notebook with the black paint option for the CL56. Took about 3 1/2 weeks for the painting and build which is not bad compared to other companies. Like most people I looked at most of the notebook forums and I felt it was a decent deal with the painted compal notebook. System arrived perfect. No dead pixels detected. Everything I ordered was received. Paint Job was execellent. Overall I'm very pleased with the system. Hopefully I wont have to use the Znet service which has had mixed reviews."
"The Velocity response to my order was immediate and precise and the delivered product is excellent as expected.
The Internet ordering process was surprisingly simple and easily understood. "
"Ordered a 939 pin FX-53 Raptor Special Edition on 28 June 04 and got it on 19 July. The system rocks! I researched all the usual companies and narrowed it down to ABS and Velocity Micro. I E-mailed ABS twice to get more info on their system but got no response so I figured if that's how they were going to treat a prospective customer I'd pay a little more and go with Velocity. I've called their service line twice and they were spot on and very helpful. I would have to say without a doubt this is the best computer I've owned. I read the post about it being cheaper to buy components like the speakers and monitor locally and would have to agree. I saved about 60 bucks buying my Logitech Z-680's from the local BX ( not to mention the $250 for 2nd day air to Hawaii).
Great product, easy to set up, performs better than expectations. Well done Velocity Micro!"
"The whole buying experience went pretty smoothly. I ordered online without talking to a rep. I already knew what I wanted so I really didn't need to ask any questions. The whole process took a little over 2 weeks. After completing my order I promptly recieved an invoice and a customer rep sent me email.
One thing you'll notice from VM. They have most of the hard to get items in stock. You want a X800 XT platinum card? They have it in stock. You want a 6800 ultra extreem? They have it in stock. No waiting 1-2 months until they get items in stock.
The only bad things I can say are .... It would be nice if they wrote the serial numbers of all the internal components down and put it in the included notebook. Right now you have to open up the computer to get the numbers. Probably would have added 5 min time for the tech building the system to put the numbers on a piece of paper. The other bad thing is that they charge full retail for peripherals (monitor, speakers ...). If you buy a computer just purchase the computer itself and purchase everything else from newegg or zipzoomfly.
Overall I would highly recommend Velocity Micro. "
"I researched "custom-built" notebooks for weeks before deciding on buying from Velocity Micro on the basis of a solid reputation and value. I have not been disappointed in my decision. The computer has worked well out of the well-packed box. The only thing missing was the registration card, but registration over the internet was simple.
The only concern I had was that I could not order the top-end notebook without a floppy drive (built into the generic Clevo case), which neither I, nor anyone I know, uses anymore. Not very "cutting-edge" is it?"
"I very recently bought a Velocity Raptor 64 Special Edition. It worked fine till today. I called up ZNet services-told that tech support would call me back as thay were all busy. I asked her to give me an idea as to when they would call me back. She refused. I now have to put my life on hold and wait goodness knows how long till they call back. This attitude from ZNet services as Velocity Micro's after hours tech support is unhelpful and frustrating to put it mildly. I'm glad that I didn't pay for another 2 years for this poor service."
“Dear Bape,
We understand our service contractor partner is not answering calls promptly or communicating expected call back times. We are working closely with them to improve their standards while we investigate other ways to improve our support systems.
We apologize for this lapse is the quality of service you rightly expect.
Velocity Micro
Update 12/22/04 All Telephone tech support is now taken directly by our in-house call center staff, right here in our Richmond, Virginia facility. Problem solved!”
"The pricing looked good, and so did the lead time they quoted.
Unfortunately they were not able to ship within the quoted lead time. I was dissatisfied with the customer service when inquiring about my order."
“Dear Mr. Johnson,
We deeply regret your frustration with the support rep who informed you your system was running 2 days beyond the estimated ship date of June 22. The order was already in the production process and would have shipped on June 24 when you decided to cancel the order on June 22.
The notes from your telephone exchange with the VM support rep indicate you cursed at him (called him a name) and he hung up on you. You then called back and cancelled your nearly completed order.
We will call you to further discuss your problem with Velocity Micro and work to find better ways to communicate without frustrating our customers.
Sincerely,
Velocity Micro”
"Had a very rough start with Velocity Micro. Took approximately a month (seems to be the ballpark norm for the industry) for my machine to arrive. Arriving with several problems which made the system inoperable - neither I, ZNet nor the VM folks in Virginia could correct them - the computer was shipped back to the factory for repair. When it was returned to me, the music system still did not work so the Creative speakers and sub-woofer had to be RMAed and replacements sent. I became very frustrated and was close to giving up on VM, but spoke to Dan at the factory who convinced me to hang on just a bit longer and not return my new system. I didn't send everything back, but, rather, gave the entire rig to my son who patiently waited for the speakers. When they arrived, he set them up and, to my amazement, they and the entire computer system worked just fine.
So, my son is now the proud new owner of what has turned out to be a great system. Through it all, VM was calm (I was NOT!) and professional. Though the computer was faulty when it arrived, VM DID make good and correct all issues. As a result, I have to admit that sometimes these kinds of problems do occur, and I just happened to be the unlucky guy in this particular instance. My advice if you're interested in a machine from VM is to go ahead and order. My boy's system has been fine since the speaker issue was resolved, and he's extremely happy to have it instead of the Dell I had intended to buy for his graduation gift. "
“Dear BMWRob,
We sincerely thank you for your understanding about the occasional unfortunate problems that can arise when shipping such complex products through UPS. While we have invested heavily in the design of the perfect shipping package, the rigors of freight handling will always be working against us.
Your patience is most appreciated.
Best Wishes,
Velocity Micro”
"I am extremely pleased with my Gamers Edge 64 AMD computer. I researched many companies for several weeks, reading all the reviews and visiting all the websites and calling the vendors. I am satisfied that I made the right choice with this company. My out of the box experience is perfect so far. I feel I got the best value for the money considering two recent articles in major PC magazines featured building dream game machines with the best available components came in price wise just what I paid for the finished product, labor included! Salespersons Dan and Ryan were very helpful and patient in answering my numerous questions. The computer performs magnificently with Far Cry and Painkiller at maximum settings. I would strongly recommend this company for quality and efficiency and would definitely buy another computer from them when my machine is outdated, hopefully not too soon in the future."
A rep from Velocity Micro, Velocity Micro, has responded:
“Dear ss04boot,
We sincerely apologize for not better informing you of the industry shortages on the ATi X800 XP Platinum card. ATi had made several promises to us regarding the delivery of the Platinum, but never shipped enough parts to us. This shortage has since been corrected.
We sent out several e-mail notices to customers regarding the delay in availability of this card, but we now understand you did not receive any notice for some reason. We suspect perhaps your e-mail spam filter intercepted the message since it was sent to quite a few customers suffering this problem along with you. Several return calls during our business hours were not able to reach you, but we did leave messages requesting a return call during business hours.
In the e-mail, we offered to ship your system instead with the X800 Pro and replace the card with the correct model when available. Also we offered to substitute the nVidia 6800 Ultra, which we are happy to be one of the select PC vendors in the world who has in stock at this time.
Instead, you chose to cancel your order, and we have promptly refunded your payment in full. We again apologize for the difficulty in supplying some highly constrained items, and for the difficult time we sometimes have communicating these unusual circumstances.
Best Wishes,
Velocity Micro”
