"Viator is a horrible company to book tours through. The descriptions are not accurate. I booked a food and city tour for $65 but it was not what was advertised. The food consisted of only a $0.50 egg dish the guide bought at a subway station and then on top I had to pay for my own transportation, which I was not expecting. I have booked other tours through getyourguide and there were no surprises. Viator sells unreputable tours, so buy at your own risk. In addition, I would also beware of the reviews, If you compare reviews to other cites (tripadvisor) viator's reviews for the same activity are way higher.
They do not list the names of the tours, so you cannot shop around. The ones that I have been able to determine the vendor, Viator is on the higher priced side, even higher than similar competitors.
I emailed Viator to inform them of my displeasure, but I only received an automated email. Customer service ****!! "
"The site and drive to the county of France was delightful! The gardens breath taking- gave a real peaceful sense after the hustle and bustle in Paris! The home and history of Monet fascinating!
Our guide was the best I had on all my tours she had an incredible wealthy of knowledge and incredible details to share as we went along the rode and at the sight!
Was She was wonderful about spelling out words in that she pronounced but with a lovely French accent would be indiscernible!! I appreciated this soooo greatly!!!
The only thing I felt was it was rushed- I would recommend a tour that you had time to see the village at least if not the museum... Tjo this is pricey and at the time thought not necessary! I suggest spend the day there!!!!"
"I just booked a trip through Viator.com and got a message saying that my booking had been cancelled because my credit card was "fraudulent." I just spoke to two Chase customer representatives who said the transaction was going through without any problems. I've tried calling Viator several times but get put on hold for well over 15 minutes. I would not deal with this fraudulent company ever again."
"I booked a flight with helicopter tour of the Grand Canyon from Las Vegas. I booked through their website, paid in full, and received a valid confirmation. 6 hours later, I get an email that Viator has to cancel my booking because the flight was already full. 6 HOURS AFTER! In the meantime, we structured other commitments around this confirmed trip.
For Viator to notify me of this news via email 6 hours after the trip is confirmed is just horrible customer service!! We spent $1,000 on these tickets for an experience of a lifetime and were so excited to go. Viator didn't seem to care about canceling or making it right.
You may want to book elsewhere. Viator does not seem to care about honoring their reservations or providing good customer service. There are much better companies to spend your hard-earned money with. "
"We booked an adventure in Kauai during a recent trip. When we arrived at the vendor on the day of travel, they did not have a booking for us and told us they had no room on the tour as it was already full. Thankfully and credits to the vendor, they were able to add a couple of mud buggies so that we could go as we had no other day to do it. We did not, however, have lunch the same as the remainder of the people on the tour. IN FACT, the actual tour that we were sold, was NOT EVEN AVAILABLE THAT DAY AND WE HAD TO BE ADDED TO A DIFFERENT TOUR. What were they selling???? and where did they get their information. When I called Viator, they said well the vendor took care of it so we don't need to do anything. I will NEVER use Viator again. Completely unreliable. I will book through the vendors directly in the future. "
" Just got back from LA where we booked a private limo tour through Viator. Viator sent an email, didn't bother calling, to cancel the night before our tour! Then wouldn't respond to emails or calls to them. They would not help at all!!! Do not use them! We went through our hotel and rearranged our schedule and finally got a tour. "
"I booked a shore excursion that I was unable to make because of the unexpected high cost of taxi to the meeting spot. Sure, that was a disappointment, but I don't put the fault on Viator. I spoke to Viator customer rep over the phone who was very nice and guided me on how to submit a request for refund online. I requested a refund via email and Viator was able to work with the supplier of the travel service to accommodate this request. The website is easy to use and provided more options than there are available from the ship. The one thing I would change is the description for this particular excursion. Although, one review for the excursion did elude to high cost of taxi, but it was ambiguous. "
