"I ordered a part for my boat. It came in broken. I’m gonna pay for my own shipping and I’ll decide if I even get a refund it could be my fault. I couldn’t believe what I was hearing terrible customer service and I’m very upset because I know I have a broken product and I probably won’t get my money back."

My experience with this company has been nothing short of disappointing and distressing. I had purchased a rebuilt Twin Disc 506, 1.97 to one ratio, and while it seemed impeccable on the surface, it failed to perform as expected once installed on the boat. Despite involving five different mechanics to troubleshoot the issue, we could not find any problems with the engine.

The shocking revelation came when our last mechanic noticed a discrepancy with the labeling of the ratio. Upon testing, it was found that the ratio was incorrectly labeled as 1.97 to one, whereas the actual ratio was 1.5 to 1. The company, seemingly in an attempt to make the product more marketable, had falsified the label - a deed they later admitted to.

When confronted with their error, the company offered little to no assistance. Their proposal that I send the transmission back and trust them to refund my money was an appalling display of customer service, given the intentional misrepresentation they had already committed.

This business practice is unethical and demonstrates a flagrant disregard for their customers. I strongly advise against engaging in business with this company. Their dishonesty has left me no choice but to seek legal recourse. This has been a regrettable experience and a cautionary tale for those considering doing business with them in the future.

Service is very rude

"Purchase a Flywheel Ring Gear and as received the weld on the inside edge was not ground flush. This would not have allowed the ring to fit the flywheel and had to be ground down prior to assembly. Their service technician told me I didn't know what I was doing and to send it back for credit. I was to pay shipping. He was very rude, said they didn't need customers like me. I will no longer purchase anything from Ebasicpower."

Horrible service, damaged products

"Horrible customer service. Damaged parts they said they would reimburse me to ship back to them only to say no the parts are fine but we sent them back to the manufacturer instead. Rude. Tried to charge me 20 percent restocking fee for parts they didn't restock and refused to reimburse shipping the original parts to me. All I wanted was new good parts. Then they blocked me from purchasing from them. Sounds like a shady service. Stay away. BBB, my credit card company are involved"

"Had a Velvet Drive go bad in my 32’ Chris Craft, called Jim at ebasic power. He walked me through what I needed, got my order together and I received it in a timely manner. Wire Fraud

"DO NOT PAY THESE PEOPLE VIA WIRE TRANSFER! They require that so you can’t file a dispute on your CC when they try to screw you. Ordered a Velvet drive 2.10:1 transmission. He sent me instructions for doing a wire transfer of funds for payment. I thought it was odd but ok. I received a 1.91:1 which is what I already had and didn’t need. Called them and he assured me it was a 2.10:1 as I ordered. I explained it still had the velvet drive stamped name plate on it stating that it was a 10-18-006 which is a 1.91:1 gear ratio. And that I wasn’t buying into him “telling me” it was a 2.10. When I told him billing via wire transfer and intentionally delivering incorrect goods is wire fraud, he hung up on me. So I called back, same result. His poor choices will catch up to him when the FBI knocks on his door. "

Very rude salesperson/tech

"This guy was extremely impatient, acted like I was bothering him, and even hung up on me right in the middle of a question! If hadn't needed the part so badly(transmission seal kit), as we were traveling and had a repair appointment, I would have immediately cancelled my order. I have honestly never dealt with such a rude person in retail. He should not have any contact with customers.

Wrong Part and No Refund

"Ordered water hose for Mercruiser 4.3L - gave them OEM part number and they sent the wrong hose. Called them to advise and send back with a full refund. No such luck - they got the hose back and my $35. Bad business model. Suggest you look elsewhere for parts - better and more reputable sellers out there. Sorry for the not so good review; can’t dispute the facts."

never use this place its really bad

"tried to order some parts by phone and was told to order by picture. after telling the parts clown that I was unsure of the part number he proceeded to yell in the background asking someone what they thought it might be. he became very rude and offensive for no appearant reason. I assume with a 2 star rating this poor run operation wont be around much longer. if you need parts call www.halemarine.com thes guys are pro's not just some fly by night shotty company like ebasic power."

Jim and the gang are great! Amazing service!

"Called on the day after Thanksgiving, expected to get voice mail, was connected to Jim. I explained my Borg Warner 71C issue. Before I could finish he said; "Let me answer your question before you ask it". Then he answered the exact two questions I had.
Then he had a custom shopping cart ready for me before I could ask what parts to get. I checked out, and the parts were shipped 15 minutes after I hit the checkout button! (Some of this is great timing on the USPS picking up just then, but it was great!).
I had a couple of small detail questions when I was rebuilding the transmission, and called Jim. He immediately answered them completely competently, and well.
Thanks!

Nasty, Rude, Ignorant Seller

"eBasicPower prides itself on its service & communication or so it has stated in 1 of the
emails sent to me. However after being treated so rudely I would rate eBasicPower, its
service, & its communication a big fat ZERO!

I emailed this seller with exact OEM item numbers to compare 2 kits in its eBay store
before I spent twice as much on 1 kit when the other had more of what I needed. They
responded, "Do not understand message". So I restated question. They then responded
"The items you reference are not ebay item numbers. We regret we cannot help you".

I then gave them their own eBay item numbers so they had all the info needed to check
on what I needed to buy. They then responded, "These kits are different ... We are unable
to open 2 kits and then spend an hour trying to match them up ... We pride ourselves on
good service and communication .. Furthermore the numbers are not OUR numbers, they
are EBAY'S numbers and if you would have stated them in your original email we would not
have had to expend the time in trying to cross reference them. This is our last effort on this
matter".

It would take 5 minutes to check what I asked them to check w/o opening packages. Someone who knows what they're selling can tell pretty much by looking at both packages. But giving the excuse they can't do it or make a buyer feel belittled is not helpful at all. Telling a buyer that their request wasted ebasicpower's time is rude, nasty, & ignorant which is what I stated
in my last email, their reply:

"I am happy for you, this way you don;t have to waste any more of both our times,Your initial
email was so far out of line we blocked you immediately before even replying. Your regression
to what is your obvious rung on the evolutionary ladder by calling names and being a j erk,
reinforces our action. You might want to resume your meds".

Is this how ebasicpower treats its customers? BEWARE, there are other reviews out there that
are not favorable to this company, either. Apparently, this is not someone decent to buy from.

never do business with them again

"Charged me $81 handling for a small package. Looked at their reviews and found they are famous for being bad. They like to ship the wrong or defective parts and then want to charge you again for the correct ones. One site had over 4000 complaints. Even the BBB gives them an F."
