"eBay has done nothing to help me with customer disputes nor to advance my business. In fact, eBay and PayPal's customer service and the "new and improved" buyer protection is completely responsible for tens of thousands of dollars in lost revenue for us due to the system being implemented nearly immediately with no notification and no time to switch over to it. Buyers don't even contact us as sellers anymore. I can't even list items anymore since my account is limited!! Awesome! I make sure to tell everybody of my horrific experiences (11 year member) with eBay and tell them to AVOID it at all costs.

*NEWS FLASH* I could buy an item from any person on eBay right now, "Claim" it's broken when it's technically not, effectively stealing ANY item from ANY seller! The system is COMPLETELY flawed. A company worth millions doesn't care at all about their seller base, but I'm not concerned. Soon enough the decline of eBay will be obvious to their management and change will undoubtedly come."

As many reviewers already mentioned, if buying from, or selling to a reputable party, then problems are rare. Nevertheless, the eBay is full of all kinds of scams as well. Understandably, it is impossible for the company to keep everything under control considering their business model, but to me, they are obviously unable to offer the same level of service as some other merchants in their league. The company's customer support is poor. Their rules and regulations are often vague. "I purchased a 32 gb flash drive and found the item was fake. I filed a dispute with ebay. The site has been updated saying that I need to send the item back, but there was no instruction on how to send the item or how I should update the tracking #. I tired contacting the customer care, its a night mare. I called them 3 times and I was on hold for 1+ hour but I did not get to any customer care guy.

you cannot tell if an item is real and fake in ebay and there is no support for customers.
I am not going buy anything from ebay in future.

"I have really gotten into the habit of searching eBay first when looking for products. Living in a small town makes it hard to find everything you want in a brick-and-mortar. I have successfully completed over 45 transactions through eBay/paypal over the last 2 years and I have NEVER had an unpleasant experience.
The onus is on the BUYER to pay attention to what the seller is offering. LOOK AT SELLER RATINGS!!! A seller with 10K+ transactions and 99% positive feedback is usually a safe bet. Don't buy the crap from China (you can change options to only show items in North America.)

Common sense is all that is required to have a fun & pleasant experience on eBay. Every buyer I have dealt with has provided me with exactly the products & service they promised.
