"I ordered a motherboard/CPU combo from Sonicparts.com in August of 2004, It is now October 2004 and I still haven't recieved any word from above mentioned merchant. All contacts have led to automated responses and the website is aparently down. They were very quick to draw the funds for the part, almost the same day actually. I would advise anybody considering to purchase an item from them to strongly, STRONGLY reconsider! "
"SONIC PARTS HAS MY MONEY!
MAY 2004 I PLACED AN ORDER FOR A SOCKET BOARD (192.00) MY CHARGE CARD WAS DEBITED HOWEVER THE ORDER WAS NOT SHIPPED FOR 3 WEEKS. AFTER RECEIVING THE ITEM, I NO LONGER NEEDED IT - RETURNED THE ITEM - TODAY IS SEPTEMBER 8, 2004 AND I STILL DON'T HAVE THE PROPER CREDIT BACK TO MY CHARGE CARD - I WISH I WOULD HAVE KNOWN ABOUT THIS SITE BEFORE I PLACED TRUST IN SONIC PARTS.

"Paid for expedited shipping/prefered packaging. Recieved package 2 weeks from order date, was packaged with a free fedex box just a little bigger than the motherboard, and about 5 peanuts. The fan I recieved was obviously used previously. The mboard was DOA. Attempted to call this company about 4 or 5 times, each time taking off of work to go home and call them long distance. Each time I was unable to get through to a rep. I was on hold for 1 hour and 20 minutes and gave up. I sent back my RMA on 7/4. Recieved a phone call late last month asking us to call them in an hour. Called back and the office was closed. Office has been shut down for about 2 weeks now, and I have been ripped off. DO yourself a favor and save your self the trouble, and keep the money in your pocket. Scammers like this should be shut down, maybe thats what happened but I atleast deserve my money."
"First of all my experience with them was not perfect...
I bought processor combo, it was an AMD 2600 with an asus mainboard, a $7 tower and a 300watt p.s. I ordered these products and received a call 2 days later verifing my address. I regave them my credit card information and they processed it. The money was out of my account the next day, but the product never came. 3 weeks later I tried calling and got put on hold for about an hour before I hung up. Then came to this site, I was EXTREMELY worried the products would be bad. I finally tried all 3 different phone numbers and got ahold of them. I came to find out they never sent my computer supplies. So they did send it in a 3 day priority.
I received the product and they work PERFECTLY... The only thing I wouldn't recommend is the $7 tower (It is small and hard to get around, the p.s is good) I would recommend this company for any computer parts..."
"Bottom line, when I talked to someone they were rude and surley. The company wouldn't call me with their intentions as I requested and wrote on the RMA. They violated thier own RMA return policies by not granting a refund (Prior to 15 days). They are unreachable for anyone who works a normal day job. On hold wait is too long for most cell plans.
The company shipped me back my RMA with no explanation. It is impossible to call them due to long wait and inconvient hours (9-3 east coast time, closed Friday). The board was unrunable, (after all 156.00 for a board, disk, cables, and a XP3000 chip, and shipping to California was my first clue). I returned a board and processor, and was willing to take a 20% hit due to a restocking fee. With no explanation or anything it was shipped back to me.
The company ships as promised. Just don't try to ship anything back.
I will never give them another nickel of my money!"
"This company is the worst in the world. No interactions with the consumer no return on emails or phone calls. DO NOT attempt to call and get a pleasant or for that matter ANY representative on the phone to discuss a issue. We purchased a mother board finally got it approximately 3 weeks after we ordered it. "AMAZINGLY" the MB did not work at all. Shipped back at our expense. Email was sent stating that "MB MUST HAVE TOUCHED METAL SHORTING OUT MB".It was determined to be physical damage due to improper installation. Once again at our expense shipped back to us STILL not working. Over one month later still no phone calls still no emails. STILL no resolution to the approximate 200.00 dollar expense we have accrued."
"Ordered XP 1700 on 5/27/2004 8:51:06 PM via Pricewatch.com special
Was expecting that since the location is not too far from my home (not like CA), I can get it faster.
No reply until 6/2/2004 (6 days later). Thought I was getting the CPU in mail, but received an email saying that there is something wrong with my cc. I guess that's their alternative way for saying "not in stock"
Did not verify the order since I knew it's gonna take me another 2 weeks to get the order.
Didn't know this forum until now. And I guess I'm the lucky ones for getting my full money back.
:)"
"There is something very wrong with this company. I have given them all the benefit of the doubt but they have completely wasted all good faith. First, I have ample evidence to conclude that Sonic Parts is closely affiliated with Compubuzz, if not the same company, despite a CSR from Compubuzz emphatically denying any relationship during a phone call.
Not only are both 'companies' located on the same street, in the same city, in the same state, but their business hours are identical albeit highly unusual (open only six hours from 10am to 4pm M-F), use identical online shopping cart systems and product lines. When you call by phone, they have the same recorded messages and the waiting music is dialed to the same local radio station.
I ordered the same item from each company (AMD XP2600+ Pricewatch special), received the orders in identical packaging, with the same return address (the one used by Compubuzz) from a company called "Computer Distributors". Each package contained identical printed invoices (only differed in shading color). Even the hand notations and QA stickers on the printed invoices are identical, which should be different from company to company. The order confirmation emails use identical titles, formats, and layout.
I placed my online order for five AMD XP2600+ processors (Pricewatch special) with Sonic Parts on May 07, 2004. I received an email within minutes confirming the order. A couple days later, I receive a request to call Sonic Parts about my order, which I tried to do for two days but could not get through due to busy signals and waiting on hold for longer than 10 minutes. Finally I got through, and the CSR whose name was "Ron", informed me that promotional offers were limited to one unit per person/order. Ok, even though this was not disclosed when I ordered, I accepted the adjustment of my order from five units to one. BTW, Ron was the only positive experience I've had with this company. He seemed to be a real courteous fellow over the phone.
I finally received the order on May 22, 2004 (15 days after ordering), which was accepted by my mother because I was in the hospital during that time. I get home on Monday the 24th to check my order and find a processor that bears unmistakable signs of being USED. There is a white residue on the processor, around the die core, resistors, and heatsink support pads, that is consistent with a previous application of thermal transfer paste. In addition, there is a small crack or chip in one corner of the die, which is consistent with an improper or careless application of a heatsink.
BTW, the processor I received from Compubuzz is even worse. It has THREE chips or cracks along the die edge, though there is no trace of any thermal transfer paste. My experience with Compubuzz has been even worse, they still have not shipped an order I placed with them on May 02, 2004 and called TWICE to confirm at their request. My rating of Compubuzz will be up soon.
UPDATE#1: Filed an RMA Request and received an RMA number. I notice in Sonic's policies that Sonic's warranty begins on the "date of invoice". The "date of invoice" is May 13th, but the order did not ship until May 17th (per USPS Track and Confirm), and the package was not delivered until May 22nd, leaving only 7 days left on the balance of my "15 day" warranty before I've even received the product. Very sneaky!
Edit#2: Interesting development. I took the plunge and tested both processors because I already promised one CPU to a client and he couldn't wait for an RMA. The processor from Sonic Parts works fine at full load. The processor from Compubuzz was defective, throwing protection errors and faults immediately.
Thank goodness I don't have to deal with this company ever again. Now I have to see if Compubuzz will give me any trouble with replacing the defective (and damaged) processor they shipped."
"AVOID THIS COMPANY! I bought this computer thinking with the impression that it was pre-assembled. What I got was a bunch of parts. NOWHERE did they state that it was not assembled- I can't even check to see if the parts are defective because I have to pay someone else to assemble it for me. THIS PLACE IS SHADY- AVOID AVOID AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE!!! "
"Initially ordered part via Pricewatch.com. Company called, said that part was out of stock, but they could sell me another part for $12 more.
Okay this and the replacement parts were shipped 3/11/04. Parts received and were installed, but the computer would not boot up. After two weeks of working with the motherboard vendor, replacing memory, etc, it was determeined the the cpu was bad. The company will not give a RMA for the defective part due to it being over 20 days since ship date even tho I was troubleshooting the culprit of the problem during this period."
"I had bought a combo mb/proc from them. They delivered within a week but couldnt get the mb operating..After trying clearing cmos and many other things shipped the mb back and went out and bought one local. Customer service was slow getting back with me about the original mb but when they did they said they found a jumper setting wrong..I prepared for the 35 dollar reaming but the guy on the phone said he was going to waive the fee and send it back. They again didnt ship when they claimed they were was a week late but it did arrive back fine and now I can build a 2nd system. Looks like they may be trying to get their act together but their communication is still very slow with their customers and I cant say I would recommend them from that standpoint but they do have very competetive prices if you do take a chance with them. "
"DO NOT LET THEM RIP YOU OFF! Save yourself the headache and go with another company. Sonicparts.com are one of the worst resellers you will ever find. Ordered a processor and they sent me a defective one. After two weeks I finally got an RMA # and crossed my fingers that a new one would arrive. (They have very shady terms on their returns. Read the fine print on their invoice because by signing it you agree to a possible $30 charge on your credit card! Also they brag about how they win 95% of all charge backs from credit card payments when a customer gets slighted). Luckily they didn't charge me extra but it was still a total waste of time dealing with these scumbags. Since they don't have any email addresses and only one phone number that is busy or conveniently down due to server problems (yeah right!), Here are a few numbers and email addresses you can try if you need to harass them about ripping you off:

"AVOID THIS COMPANY!
Not only did they send me bad equipment; they refused to give me an RMA until my CitiBank card got involved. Then they swore they had never talked to me about returns.
THESE PEOPLE ARE THIEFS! AVOID THEM!"
"I was promised a free gift that never came. I was upsold and overcharged for a fan/heatsink. The CPU arrived with bent pins. They substituted a different motherboard because they were out of stock (but they were still listing it on pricewatch). Their shipping was slow. Their customer service is non-existant. Let's see how they like disputed Visa charges... "
"They took my money quickly enough, but after nearly a month, and countless frustrating attempts to get ahold of the company, I found out they don't have what I ordered, but they could get me a refubished item with a $5 credit. Their website was misleading, they were very difficult to get ahold of, and when I did get to talk to someone there, it was a 45 minute phone call with a combined total of about 3 minutes talking to humans."
