"Received a bad product key and have been trying to get it correct for a month with no response from the Tek-Micro.
"
"I installed Microsoft Office per their instructions and tried to activate it online. It didn't work at first, claiming that the key had been used on other devices. My heart sank as I realized this merchant may have scammed me. I then tried to activate office by phone. Lo and behold, it worked!
Moral of the story, if you're getting a good deal on Office, be prepared to do a little leg work yourself."
"Sorry rude title. But, the people complaining dont seem to understand activation processes. even when purchasing a full retail version these hiccups happen. Our chop build dozens of systems , and most if not all pcs that are on budgets . are built with software from Tek micro...... all but one activated fine over the past years.... i wrote in and promptly got assistance and a replacement key..... "
"I bought an older version of Microsoft Office and when the license code didn't work, I attempted to work with a customer service representative to resolve the issue. Not only did that process last much longer than it should, the other code they gave me did not work either. I'm just glad I was only out $60 as opposed to hundreds which I have heard other people have lost. Do not buy from this site!"
"I contracted (ordered)for 2 Win 7 Pro OS downloads and payment was through DigitalRiver. I received my activation numbers, burned both 32bit and 64bit copies and installed the two copies. First attempt at activation came back from MS that the numbers were invalid. Ran the numbers again in a few minutes and they activated no problem.
If you are unhappy, take it up with whomever issued the numbers and accepted your money, not Tek-Micro. Tek-Micro issued a perfectly good ISO of the OS and (in my case) DigitalRiver guaranteed the transaction when they accepted my money which puts them on the spot to make the transaction good. Is it possible that the complainants are not competent to burn and install the OS?"
"I ordered a Windows 7 Iso file from tek micro. I received the file but was never able to open it. Whenever I clicked on the file it takes me to a web page that says "welcome to nginx" and then I can't get out of that page. I tried to contact customer support several times but they are always busy. When they did respond they said they don't give refunds. I am going to file a complaint with the BBB and state attorney general's office. I recommend that anyone ekse that has been ripped off by these scam artists to do the same. DO NOT BUY ANYTHING FROM TEK MICRO!!!"
"I purchased a Windows 7 download for $60 and was sent an activation key only to find that it doesn't work. Their email sent along with the activation key states,"We would like to remind you that per company policy, download products are non-refundable but we are committed to get you up and running at all costs." Well I have yet to see that, and now that they have my money, I don't think they could care less. This company seems to be a scam and they also seem to be using bots or employing people to leave false positive reviews on rating websites. If you look at the positive reviews, they are generic and give very little genuine detail about the reviewers experience, mostly it is something along the lines of "I ordered from them and my product came very fast and hassle free." If I learned anything from this waste of $60 it is that it is VERY important to be discerning when looking at online reviews for companies. "
"It is a scam. I purchased Windows 7 Home, I keyed in the activation key that they gave me. My computer keeps asking me over and over for the activation key says that the key that I have entered is invalid. I called Microsoft they told me that this is not the first time that they have heard of this company. I am demanding my money back from them. Don't purchase anything from them. If you want to buy an item and not have a problem with the item do what I will be doing from now on go to Best Buy, Walmart or some office supply place. I work to hard for my money to give it away Tek-Micro is a SCAM."
"This is a complete scam and I have asked for a refund. First off, once you pay, you dont automatically get the download. You get an email that says it can take up to a day to process and someone has to call you back to confirm (even though it was automatic to take the money.) Then I finally get the product code and download the software and go to put in the product code and it says: "Your copy of Microsoft Office Home and Student 2013 cannot be activated because the specified Product Key has already been activated the maximum number of times permitted for your software license as specified in the Microsoft License Terms."
Complete scam. Buy from a site that is reputable, not these scammers. I expect my refund today or I will dispute with my bank."
"I purchased 3 copies of windows 7 pro digital download and 3 keys. Upon receipt of the keys I tried to install windows. Not one of the three keys worked and windows said they were not valid keys. After this happened I contacted the vendor and they requested screen shots. I could have taken pictures with my phone; however, screen shots are not possible from the installation screen. Plus the idea that all 3 keys were not valid and they were asking me for screen shots to prove they did not work really made me angry. I cancelled my order and they said it would take up to 10 business days to get my money back."
"LONG TERM SUPPORT IS NON-EXISTENT
I purchase Adobe Acrobat X Professional in September 2012. For the first time since then, a recent computer issue required a reinstall of all my software.
The problem: The download link in the invoice email does not work, and my order does not appear in my account when logged into their site.
Upon contacting their customer support with the order number, date of purchase, and issue. I was told, in short, "oh well."
A new company purchased tek-micro.com a few years ago and failed to migrate the customer purchase orders over. Further, they no longer partner with Adobe.
To make the whole situation even worse is that now, even if I want to upgrade, they provided no serial number, and I have no running installation, and therefore Adobe has no way of verifying the existing valid copy, requiring me to buy at the full retail price.
In the intervening years, Tek-Micro did not alert customers to the change in ownership, or affiliation that may affect the customer's ability to retrieve their software. As such there was no opportunity provided to download and back up a working installation file.
This is the first and only digital distributor, in 2 decades of personal online presence, that has failed to provide ongoing access to previous purchases (particularly when you are referring to this level of expense)."
"Contrary to the last comment, Tek-Micro is indeed a Microsoft Partner/Reseller and my order for a product key to register MS Office 2010 was processed and delivered promptly. Download from Digital River and installation was smooth and quick. My experience was painless and the price was the lowest I could find."
"This is an online scam shop. I bought Windows 7 pro downloadable and after realizing the download did not containing windows 7 I contacted Microsoft tech support and they also confirmed that I got scammed. When trying to talk to the company they just lied, and kept telling me "We have been in business for 14 years" or some other bs that doesn't get to the point that they are screwing you. AVOID AT ALL COST! I do not know any legitimate business that does not give automatic refunds for not receiving the product advertised. Kind of sounds like fraud doesn't it?"
"Dealing with this company was a good experience throughout the process. Their customer service representatives are very helpful! no need to beg, they never hesitate to help you and assist you. More power for this company!"
"April 24, 2013: Ordered Adobe Acrobat X from Tek-Micro.com for $120.99. -- Had to access Acrobat X using "45-Day Trial" method while waiting on them to send us our license # password.
June 6, 2013: Called them at ***-***-**** for a license # password, but they said they didn't have any. I asked for a refund and he agreed.
June 12, 2013: Still no refund, so called them, left a message, and e-mailed them (see below). "Dan" agreed and said he'd get with Accounting Dept, but still never heard back from him.
June 24, 2013: Still no refund, so e-mailed them & Cc'd BBB at ****@****.
July 16, 2013: Still no refund, so called & left a message, then attempted to file complaint online. Tek-Micro e-mailed me to inform me they were acquired by a new investment group on June 25th, then asked me to buy it from them again. Told them I had to order it from a different company, so they needed to refund my money.
July 17, 2013: Tek-Micro e-mailed me to tell me they would not be able to give me a refund and that I need to contact my credit card company for a "charge-back".
** DO NOT BUY ANYTHING FROM TEK-MICRO.COM **"
