"Don't waste your time with these clowns.
I've used them twice, both times for over the counter medications (benedryl). Both times they held up the order waiting for a "prescription" from by Vet, even though after the first time, they said they'd fix their system. Which I only ordered from these clowns because they sell benedryl in unflavored liquid form, as opposed to the flavored versions sold over the counter at places like CVS.
A big FAIL."
"On Friday morning I ordered some Tramadol for my dog Chaka-Tu. I talked to a representative at 1800 PetMeds, and they said they would fax my vet and ask for a prescription. When I didn't hear anything more, I called 1800 PetMeds on Sat. morning and was told that a fax had been sent but no answer had been received. They said they would ask the Pharmacy section to send another fax.
Subsequently, I called my vet and they said no faxes had been received. After about an hour on the phone first with my vet, then with the 1800 representative, and finally with both at the same time, the issue was finally resolved; although I understand that my prescription will not be sent out until Monday. I complained to 1800 PetMeds and found there policy is to wait 24 hours before even sending a second fax unless the customer makes a follow up call. Apparently, they never try and initiate direct contact with the vet, or even with the customer making the order. In addition, the person taking the order at 1800 PetMeds is not the person contacting the vet. Perhaps some of the problem is poor communication between 1800 PetMeds order takers and their Pharmacy department. 1800 Pet Meds also said that since Tramadol is a controlled substance the required information such as driver liscense number was an issue. However, I had provided all of the necessary information to 1800 PetMeds initally when I placed the order, so I don't see how that was in issue. When 1800 PetMeds says they sent two faxes, and the vet says they received none, the customer is caught in the middle, and 1800 PetMeds simply didn't display the sense of urgency in solving the problem that I felt was necessary."
"I will never do business with 1800petmeds again. I ordered heartworm meds for my dog and sent them a scanned copy of the RX, which I picked up from my vet. Petmeds informed me they could not accept that and that they would need it faxed directly from the vet, which they would contact. Shortly after (the same day) they told me they had not heard from the vet and needed me to call and have them fax over the RX. They could not have tried very hard as it had only been a few hours since I placed the order.
I called and had the vet fax over the RX as requested by Petmeds and I followed up with another email to Petmeds to let them know. They responded telling me that was not sufficient and they needed a specific form to be completed by the vet. At this point I responded that I have provided the RX, and then per your request had the vet fax it directly to you. Now after time and aggravation, you tell me it is not acceptable and you need it send with a specific form? That should have been provided when YOU (petmeds) asked me to have the fax the RX, however it was never mentioned. The level of incompetence is completely ridiculous. I have better things to with my time then jump through all these hoops because they don’t have their act together and every time you communicate with them it is someone else who does not know what is going on and is not capable of reading the email thread.
I emailed Petmeds back explaining my dissatisfaction and told them if they could not use either the scanned RX I sent or the faxed RX from the vet then just refund my money. The response I received next was that they never received an RX in the mail... The mail? What are they talking about? I never said anything about mail. Pet meds is completely incompetent, and cannot fill orders and are completely disorganized. The customer service is pure incompetence.
I will never do business with them again and would deter anyone else from dealing with them either.

"I tried to order and was told they can't ship to my delivery address because it differs from my billing address and it's my first time ordering. Well why have the option? It's a prescription and I provided my dogs Dr info which goes back to me. I called customer service and had to cancel. They sent me a $5 coupon to return so I figured my parents could use that to send it to me. Nnnnoooooo now you can only use one coupon so Im inconvenienced because y'all are ridiculous and I have to pay shipping and my 70+ parents have to go to post office. If I was using someone else CC I wouldn't buy pet meds and definitely wouldn't provide my address. "
"PEOPLE PLEASE BEWARE!! MY DOG WAS PRESCRIBED KETOCONAZOLE FOR AN INFECTION. I WAS PAYING 1800PETMEDS $57 A MONTH FOR THIS SCRIPT, MY VET GAVE ME A WEB SITE TO DO COMPARISON SHOPPING. GOODRX.COM. THIS SCRIPT IS $17. AT WALMART!! PLUS THEY GIVE YOU A COUPON TO GIVE THE PHARMACY. THIS TOTAL PRESCRIPTION FOR THE SAME AMUNT OF PILLS WAS A WHOLE WHOPPING $11.01! THAT'S QUITE A SAVINGS!!"
"Yes learn to read! Idiots!!
In response to:
Me: This will be my last order. Goodriddens to poor customer support. No need to further reply nonsense back to me.
Them responding when I asked them not to: We are very sorry that you had to follow up with us. How can we better serve your needs as we do not want to have you feel that way if there is something more that we can do?
Please feel free to contact us if you require further assistance with your account."
"this is really bad. i will not use their product again"
"My advice is to steer clear of this company. Their prices are not good, all the trouble that Ive been put through to save $2.10c is laughable.
I ordered Heartgard Blue Plus and received Heartgard Blue without the Plus. Many phone calls later, a trip to the post office to return the wrong prescription, and I am still waiting to receive the correct prescription 2 weeks later. Personally, I will never use this company again. For the $2.10c more I could have picked up the correct prescription directly from my Vet at the clinic she works at, come right home with it and avoided all of this back and forth irritation, time wasting and trouble."
"Worst service ever. Ordered dog food that can only be purchased at vet or online on 4/7. Called 4 times and was told that the order had shipped and that they would provide me with a tracking number. After almost 2 weeks and 4 calls, I got a generic e-mail that the order was cancelled and an offer for $5.00 off of my next order. I immediately called and was told that the food was discontinued. Had someone bothered to tell me that a week ago, I could have purchased food elsewhere. I wouldn't purchase so much as a chew toy from this disreputable company with incompetent staff."
"Their customer service was rude to me and their prices are just way to high compared to the competition. I had to contact them multiple times to get my Heartgard sent to me, it took two weeks.
I've used other internet pet stores and they were much better. 1-800petmeds just lost me as a customer."
"Expensive and pushy! I ordered some K9 Advantix once and now I get tons of emails and letters wanting me to buy again. They suck!"
"as a rescue I thought the prices for canned food by the case for dog and cat were reasonable. I spend an average of over $400.00 per order. My complaint is that in the last 2 years I have noticed that the cases contained more and more damaged cans, many cans per case at times! Since the case is professionally shrinkwrapped, and the can damage is always faced towards the center of the case, I can only assume it is done on purpose! I worked in a Military warehouse so I know that the damage cannot be from shipping or slight bumps, these cans are "drops" and have been placed strategically in the case to conceal the damage. I've noticed this with both dog and cat, especially Blue Buffalo Homestyle and Wellness Cat. My last order was a disaster with a THIRD of the cans having some kind of damage to them. This often makes opening the can impossible! This on top of the fact that they sent a duplicate order for which they nicely said I could keep but thanks to the UPS THIS shipment arrived looking like ACE VENTURA delivered it and 80% of the cans were damaged-some actually squashed flat on one side! Tired of the waste, will be looking for another company!"
"absolutely insane. the first $44 order they charged me more than other places, but said they would not honor the other prices because they were from amazon - and other places - not legit. next, i ordered 8 mos later, an $88 order. the order never went out - although a) i was charged on my cc; and b) i received a confirmation email about the order saying "tracking on the way." went to look at tracking and found out it was usps snail mail - last time it was automatic fed ex - so i paid More Money for Product and got downgraded for shipping. worst of all - they said my order was "under review" because they wanted the 3-digit code for my credit card - but my card was ALREADY charged."
"I ordered a (6) count supply of flea preventative for my dog called Revolution. After 2 applications, my dog was infested with fleas and knowing that Revolution had always worked in the past, I knew something was wrong. I consulted my vet (Los Feliz Small Animal Hospital) who concurred that the product was faulty and passed on that 1800-PetMeds has been reprimanded in the past for supplying consumers with faulty product mislabeled to be the real thing. I was appalled. My dog has flea bites all over her from a month of faulty product and I purchased something which I'm not even sure what it is.
I purchased Trifexis in the vet's office and immediately the fleas died. I haven't seen a flea on her since. The only reason I switched to Trifexis is because it was easier to give her a pill rather than application on her as she is a French Bulldog and has fine hair. Stay AWAY from this company. It's not worth saving a little money for the possibility of going through what I've been through."
"I ordered incontinence meds for my 8.5 year old pooch. We normally get the prescription filled by the local vet. 30 pills for $85 at the vet. The same 30 pills were $35 at 1800petmeds.
I check online that they were legit and decided to try the order. They called my vet and confirmed the prescription then sent the order.
Their emails and account online information never gave a tracking number despite saying the order shipped. The total elapsed time from order to arrival of shipment was reasonable.
Other than the limbo of the shipping information my order went well. I never had to deal with a live person so I can't comment on that aspect of their business.
I would order again but I wouldn't gamble the life of my pet on the outcome of an online purchase from anyone. If your pet is ill use a local vet and pay the price. Don't blame a website for the death of your pet."
