"Friends told me to get my glasses made at Costco, so I went and found out it would cost me about $200. I was prepared to bite the bullet and order them, but when I told the guy I did NOT want the anti-glare coating (which I absolutely HATE because I can never clean them well enough!), he said they all come with that and there is no way not to get it. No thanks. That is a deal breaker. So I walked out, came home, and did a search for buying glasses on the internet. Up popped a bunch of websites, and I entered all the info for my progressive lenses on two sites before stumbling across 39DollarGlasses. The first two were slightly less expensive than Costco, but 39DollarGlasses was only $99 and change. And I can get them WITHOUT the crappy anti-glare coating! Then I found a $15-off coupon on HONEY, so I paid only $84! It is a gamble ordering something so critical online, but I took a chance and did it. Boy! Glad I did! The glasses came in 5 days, and they were nearly perfect. I say nearly because I had to adjust the ear pieces a bit. But so what!?!?! Big deal! Now I have new glasses that cost less than dinner for two at a decent restaurant in our neighborhood. I am one happy camper, and you can bet I will use 30DollarGlasses if I need new glasses in the future. (The only negative? I did not get an email that acknowledged my order. That is weird, and I have never bought anything online - and I buy a lot online - when I did not get an email acknowledging an order. Never.)"
"I spent over $700 dollars for 2 new pair of glasses store in our community vs $128 at 39Dollar. The 39Dollar was even better in quality fit, looks. and prescriptions were as requested."
"Even though I purchased nearly all of the upgrades (polycarbonate, transition and progressive) making my glasses cost $218, the distortion across the field of vision is substantial. It is as though the area of correction in the lenses is pretty small. Further, even though I chose the most common height for wearing glasses, the reading correction is nearly at the bottom edge of the lenses making it necessary to tip my head far back for reading. "
"Several years ago I bought an expensive new pair of glasses with rimless frames. I made the mistake of ordering the lenses as single vision instead of progressive vision. As a result I found the glasses just about useless and never wore them except to movies. Early on I checked to see what it would cost to replace the lenses with progressive lenses. The vendors I checked with either wanted a fortune to replace the lenses or they just wouldn't touch them because of the rimless frames.
A few weeks ago I decided to check again as the lenses in my other glasses are scratched and now need replaced but I couldn't go without glasses. I found 39DollarGlasses.com on a Google search along with a few other vendors. After comparing prices, terms, and customer reviews I decided to go with 39DollarGlasses.com.
My rimless frames with the new lenses came back earlier than expected and the results are even better than I'd hoped. I love the glasses and haven't stopped wearing them except to sleep. I can see clearly now and plan to send my other pair (full wire rims) to 39DollarGlasses.com for new lenses soon."
"I scoured the web far and wide and I found 39Dollar Glasses to offer the best options for me (also accounting for the discounts available at the time I made my purchase). They had a frame model I could go for although not what I would've liked and the final price was very reasonable when compared with buying at a brick and mortar store and more convenient than many other online stores.
I ordered my glasses and they arrived in a timely manner although that was somewhat expected as my own address is relatively close to their mailing address (Hauppauge, NY).
I liked the quality of the received frame and although the lenses seemed fine too I can't speak for those in terms of durability and accuracy of prescription since I had to return the frame right after I got them because the prescription strength was way stronger than what I needed and couldn't bear to look through the lenses for more than a handful of seconds... did they make a mistake or was my prescription wrong? No matter what I could only return that pair of glasses... I was rather upset not only for the minor setback, but probably more for having wasted a perfectly good pair of lenses.
So I contacted 39Dollar Glasses via email to get an RMA. I received it by email rather quickly and I sent it back the glasses using the same box in which they arrived pasting the pre-paid return label on that box. IMPORTANT: If you ever need to return be forewarned, DO NOT USE THE SAME BOX WITH THE PREPAID SHIPPING LABEL YOU'LL RECEIVE, USE A DIFFERENT STANDARD, UNMARKED BOX!!! The box 39Dollar Glasses uses to ship to you is a priority mail box, but the prepaid label is not, so when arriving to destination it will be refused and returned. The USPS does not consider the shipping label when a priority box is used (which is crazy), they will ship as priority whenever such box is used even if the label is not. This will mean that the receiving end would have to pay the difference in cost between the regular non-priority cost and the priority one, or decline delivery and have the box returned to the sender. That happened to me for assuming the return would be processed with in the same way the original shipment did. Of course the package got returned back to me so I had to use another box to send it over using once again the same shipping label... it's absurd you could use a label to have a package delivered to destination, get refused, returned and then delivered again all for the same price... clearly that shipment costed more in fuel since it was carried 3x instead of just 1x, but I guess that's just one of the many idiosyncrasies of the USPS.
That said through the whole process I contacted 39Dollar Glasses to also know why the package had been refused and they explained what happened. They've been useful and professional throughout the whole unfortunate process and in the end (although well over a month later for the aforementioned shipping delays), I got a full refund, no questions asked. This is also why I will look no further in future and will buy from them again.
So what caused having to return the glasses I ordered? Well it ends up it was the optician's store I used! I went to Eyedrop Optique in Dumbo Brooklyn NY stating I only wanted a prescription, not a pair of glasses. And to make it short, due to their incompetence (or malice due to not buying my glasses there?) I got a prescription with incorrect OD and OS values for sphere and cylinder which were more than double the correct value! And was also missing the farsightedness/presbyopia values which should've been included since I paid for a full exam, instead I had to email to get the prescription amended and even though I received those values about 1 month after the exam, they too were wrong! If that happened due to a transcription error made by a staff member or during the eye exam is yet unknown to me. Either way that incompetence (or malice?) caused me to order a pair of glasses from 39Dollar Glasses corresponding to said wrong prescription.
At the time I got the glasses I couldn't be sure, but I eventually came to know that it was a wrong prescription (which excluded the possibility of 39Dollar Glasses sending frames with wrong lenses), because I went to a different optometrist who later gave me the correct prescription. Sadly I ended up spending almost x2 the cost of what the glasses at 39Dollar Glasses had costed me >:( just to re-lens my existing (and costly) brand-name and very well made frame... but since at 5+ years that frame is still perfectly fine and at the time I got the correct prescription there were no comparable offers at 39Dollar Glasses, I opted to re-lens my comfortable and long lasting frame over getting a new, cheap one with new lenses which (removed the discounts) would cost me nearly the same.
In the interest of full disclosure, I found a pair of glasses that were about 20 dollars cheaper than what I got at 39Dollar Glasses. The online retailer was Marvel Optics. I had placed an order and got contacted a few days later only to be told the frame I wanted wasn't in stock. Since I had picked Marvel Optics over others mostly because of the frame (lightweight titanium and frameless), that became a deal breaker and canceled my order with them... being 39Dollar Glasses my next chosen option I ordered my pair of glasses there and I have to say I couldn't be happier.
In conclusion, if you're looking for a serious, professional store with great customer service (call for quickest results), with integrity and very convenient prices (especially during discount campaigns), you won't need to look any further since 39Dollar Glasses is it and it won't get much better than that. In future I will shop there for any of my eyeglasses needs. Thank you 39Dollar Glasses!"
"The glasses look great! The only thing is that they were a bit crooked so I had to go somewhere to get them adjusted."
"I was a little skeptical at first, but I have been proven wrong. My new glasses work and look great and arrived faster than anticipated, even with a slight problem with the mailing address. I definitely will be doing business with them again in the future. "
"The glasses are exactly as show and the dimensions are spot on. Ordered glasses similar mom's current ones. We are happy with the process of choosing glasses, checking on size/fit, filling in prescription, and ordering.
Quick, Easy, and Accurate. Great process. Will order from 39Dollar again, especially because it is a USA company and my glasses are not being shipped from China (literally) so any problems can be fixed much faster. "
"It took sixteen days to process and ship my other. They were very good in customer service and put my order in next day shipping for free to make up for the time. I have been a good customer and this had never happen before."
"Is was a great experience I had no problems picking my glasses. I will recommend other people as well."
"Looks great, very fast shipment, love the extras: hard case, glasses cleaning cloth and key chain set of micro screwdrivers (one for phillips head and one for regular screws). I will order again. I don't know how important PD accuracy is for regular prescription. My eye doctor did not give me this and when I measured there was a difference from what a friend told me it was. Ask your eye doctor to do this when you have an exam."
"First order was delivered in 3 days. Another order 2 weeks later has been pending for over a week without any update."
"My lenses seem to have an ever so slight halo effect that causes blurriness in sunlight or a bright room. Kind of annoying and definately shouldnt have gotten past qc."
"I have worn glasses for 78 years, so I speak from experience. I was completely satisfied in every way with the two pairs of glasses I got recently. Amazing prices, amazing quality, accurate execution of the prescription and speedy delivery. Thank you so much!"
"My re-lens order on a Oakley Blender 6B frame was done very well. I got the the completed glasses back within 6 business days. 39dollarglasses did a great job with the order. It should be noted that discounts codes cannot be used with re-lens orders. Overall very good experience."
