"DO NOT BUY FROM THIS "COMPANY" Just like everyone else has reported on here, they sent me a confirmation e-mail about the4 camera I purchased and wanted me to call and confirm. When I confirmed they proceeded to tell me that I must purchase a battery because the battery that Panasonic includes with the camera will only last 30-40 pictures. Well, I called Panasonic to confirm that information and he said that was absolutely incorrect it last up to 300 pictures. When I tried calling back to cancel my order they were very rude and before I could complain they hung up on me!!"

According to complaints filed with the BBB, WiseTronics employs bait and switch sales tactics in order to sell more merchandise. After placing an order on-line, consumers receive an e-mail instructing them to call the company to "confirm" their order. Once on the phone, sales representatives try to sell consumers extra batteries, accessories, and warranties, some of which are included with the camera. When consumers decline, their order is cancelled or they are told that their item is not in stock.

"Lo and Behold! As with EVERYONE else, I received an e-mail to verify the order. Spoke with "Jason". He proceded to tell me that I needed and SD card for the Nuvi 660. I told him I had already purchased one in the past and he told me "well, you DO know that an SD card you use for taking pictures will not work in this unit." I told him I would find that out myself when I received the Nuvi and tried the one I have. 5 or 10 minutes later I got the e-mail telling me they regret to inform me that my item is no longer in stock and will be on backorder for 2-4 weeks. I think EVERONE who has posted on this site should send a letter to the BBB and the New York State Attorney General/Department of Consumer Affairs. This scam has obviously gone on for quite a long time....guess htey are making enough money to survive by pushing the ignorant to purchase "accessories" at super inflated prices. Stay Away!! Stay FAAAAAR Away!"

"I ordered a Nikon coolpix P80 priced at $265 (much lower than the $369 price at local camera shop)on May 24, 2008. I received an e-mail the same day confirming and was told that order was processing. Then I received a missed call on my cell phone ( later learned that they had tried to contact me by e-mail and home phone as well, however never left a voice message on either phone!). When I returned the call, I realized that I Jason was trying to sell accessories. After I refused, he then asked if I wanted the Chinese version or the US version. I asked what the difference was and I was told that the one I ordered had all of the menus in Chinese only!! I could upgrade to the US version for a small amount of $60 more!! What a scam. How do they continue to stay in business. When I checked my computer, I saw 2 more e-mails, one telling me my product was on back order and one cancelling my order. I might add that Jason was extremely rude and kept insisting that I should just cancel, wierd!!!"

"Ordered the Canon PowerShot SD1100 for a good price. Received an email asking me to call in to confirm the order with the Verification department at 1-***-***-**** Ext. 202 Kevin. I called this "Kevin", who asked why I hadn't ordered batteries with the camera. Now, I knew this camera came with a battery so my scam hackles went up immediately. I said no thanks to the batteries. "Kevin" confirmed that the item was in stock and that it would be shipped in 1-3 business days.

About 3 minutes after the phone call, I received an email saying "We regret to inform you that by the time your order reached the shipping process, our inventory on the product(s) you ordered was negative, therefore your order will be placed on a temporary backorder until we receive the product(s) back again in stock which will be in about 3-4 weeks." Now, since "Kevin" had just told me the item was in stock and ready for shipping I was upset. So I called back, same extension, received the same guy "Kevin". I asked him about why I received the preceding email, since he had just told me the item was in stock. He then proceeded to tell me "I don't know who would have told you that." I said "you told me, this is Kevin right." At which point he stammered and said, "no this is Bobby". So I told Bobby to cancel the order. I'm hoping "Bobby" actually does it, so I can wash my hands of this lousy company.

"I ordered a Nuvi 770 from these people. I got an email back 2 days later saying it was on backorder for 4 weeks. I canceled the order and called again today (May 26th). The sales rep tried to sell me a crazy priced SD card (over $100 give me a break!) I asked if I could skip the card, he said, "sure" and then hung up. Stay away from this place. I wish there were a way to punish companies like these. Don't be lured to them by price"

"Ordered a canon camera and received email requesting to call Brad to confirm order information. After I decline to purchase any accessories, Brad informed me that the product will be send out in a week. 5 minutes later received email informing me that the product is out of stock and back ordered 4-5 weeks. I am like others who purchased on lower price and canceled the order based on the this company's bad business practice. This is one of its indirect methods to encourage a buyer to add on to the price or otherwise encourage a buyer to cancel the order. The price is not as advertised. Stay away."

"Same up-selling that most everyone has experienced. I received an email from 86th St. Photo & Video requesting that I call them to "verify" the order.

When I called, "Brad" tried to pressure sell me a rediculously priced memory card. I told him, "No". At the end of the telecon he advised me that my order delivery would be received in two weeks.

Not more than 3 minutes passed after the telecon when I received an email stating tht my order was on back order and should beback in stock in 3 - 4 weeks.

They bait you with low prices and want you to buy accessories at rediculous prices. If you don't buy accessories, you do not get your order.

Their days are numbered.

Got a call two days later "confirming" the order which was just an antree to selling accessories - I giggled and said no thanks. Two weeks later when I called to find why order had not arrived, I was told back ordered - 5-6 weeks! On the site, it is still not marked back order"

"THIS MERCHANT IS A TOTAL SCAM ARTIST!!!!
Advertised Panasonic DMC-TZ4 camera on website (multiple ones). I ordered, paid for and paid extra shipping to receive it in time for my niece's wedding in Canada. When I called to check on why it had not arrived I was told that it was on "back order" and it would be shipped free of charge. I then called the store as a "regular" customer and was told that the camera is in stock! When I then confronted the rep. about why I was told that they were on back order, he asked me what my order # was and he then told me, "I just cancelled your order." When I protested, he said, "I'll send you the camera with no battery or charger." When I informed the rep that this practice is outrageously deceptive,and that I was an attorney and will file a complaint with the Consumer Affairs Dept, he called me a "CHEAP JEW!" I will indeed be filing both a complaint with the Consumer Affairs Department as well as filing suit in Small Claims Court. DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THESE HORRIBLY DECEIPTFUL AND DISRESPECTFUL "BUSINESS OPERATORS".

"I placed an online order for a Canon PowerShot SD1100 IS camera and received an email acknowledging my order. Within 48 hours I received an email from 86th Street Photo asking me to call to "verify" my order. I called and once I finally connected with a live person it turns out the only purpose for their needing to"verify" my order was their effort to sell me more accessories by a very pushy salesperson. I refused and after Five minutes of sales pitch canceled my order and terminated the call. Filed a Rip-off report too so maybe I can prevent someone else from potentially being ripped-off by this scamming company. "

"A Real scam! I ordered a Nuvi 660 at a low price; a few days later I was called to report that I left out the date of expiration of my credit card -NOT! Anyway, I declined to add the expensive SD card and the AC charger that was supposed to come with the unit. I was told every was fine, but I no more that hung up and received a message that the unit was on backorder. Still today the web page says it is in stock. A real scam.

"don't buy from them unless you want to overpay for accessories or warranty! i wish i had researched the company before i made a purchase. i placed my order, but had to call in to "confirm" it. they tried to sell me an extended life battery and a warranty. after declining to make any other purchases, i was notified by email that my camera was on backorder. funny that. how is it possible that they are still in business?"

"Hi,

I placed an order for Powershot S5. My order was backordered as well. And on calling them the CS was rude and only answer they would give was "5 Weeks from now". The customer support was not even listening to the question and was constantly repeating the same line. It is the worst experienc with any customer support i had. After reading other comments here, i just cancelled my order.
