It took them 15 days to process my order and when I complained that I needed the book they simply said, "We know the books were sent outside the 2 day processing period, but they are on their way." Due to your abominable customer service, I will never use you again and I will spread the word."
"Bad experience here. I've purchased 10 books and have received 6 in a time lapse of 3 years.
It seems that there are very bad vendors or those vendors have thieves as employees... and those thieves never send the books!
I am very disappointed with their service because I'm never sure if I will get them or not.
From those 4 times I lost books, only in two occasions I got a refund.
Very risky..."

"After reading the reviews, I was fairly scared since I ordered the book before I saw the reviews.
I ordered a book for college. I found it for cheap on AbeBooks and selected the 2-6 days shipping. It shipped right away. The expected date it said for arrival was on or before February 9th. It got here February 2nd. The order was sent on January 31st so I'm very satisfied with how soon it came, as well as the condition it arrived in. Overall, no complaints and excellent service.

"I ordered my textbooks before finding and reading these reviews. After reading them, I was very nervous about losing my money to some scammer or such. However, I ordered on a late Monday night and my textbooks were delivered to my home early Thursday morning(with expedited shipping). I also went through 3 different sellers and received them all the same day. I suppose there may be some fraudulent sellers out there, but mine were great! SUPER FAST ship and delivery and nice packaging. They were all brand new, exactly as described. Not to mention the prices for the sonography books run between $150-$360 each. I bought all four of my textbooks for about $320. AWESOME! Saved me tons. THANKS ABEBOOKS AND SELLERS! Will do future business with them."
"The book never came, and they require you to wait until a week after the book was supposed to arrive before you say that it is missing. And I'm not talking about after the estimated delivery date. I mean the last possible date that the order should possibly be getting there. 3 weeks later (after choosing a standard shipping option), I have not seen the book or heard anything about it. I have already missed two assignments in my class. I'm now paying $25 more to get the book from amazon with faster shipping, and it is worth it!"
"Terrible experience!!!! I never had dealt with such ignorant customer service ever. First of all, they charged me 10$ for shipping and handling. Well that was fine, until they sent me a wrong book with a wrong ISBN. Once I contacted them they wanted to accept the book and try to deal with the fact that it is "similar but not the same" book. Finally after almost 5 days of e-mailing back and forth, they finally accepted to refund the book, but they won't refund the shipping & handling, they want me to pay for the return shipping, and as they told me some extra charges "may" apply. Seriously??? It is just a rip-off..... Terrible Business! With no business ethics at all !"
"I encountered a fraudulent seller who never shipped the book. To their credit, AbeBooks refunded my money promptly. One drawback is that you have to wait a whole month before you can pursue a non-delivery claim. Another drawback is that they don't have user reviews of sellers which may encourage fraudulent sellers to set up shop. Since they refunded my money, I'll probably give them another chance but I will definitely research other sellers."
"I ordered a book from Abe's and paid $6.99 extra for expedited shipping. However, when I received the shipping notice it indicated it would take 10 days/8 business days to deliver. Only after several e-mail complaints did Abe's agree to ship in 8 days/6 business days. I received the book today. It came via regular mail 7 days after my order. It is pretty apparent that Abe's is pocketing most of the shipping charge and using an inexpensive delivery service regardless of delivery time. "
"I placed in error (warning! Things stay in your cart on the website for months - causing inadvertent orders) then immediately canceled an order through Abe Books. Though the bookseller wrote and said it was canceled, they then shipped the book in error. I returned it (at my own expense) and apparently they are refunding my money. HOWEVER Abe Books was the one that had to ok and do the refund and they were difficult, slow, and I had to explain the situation in numerous (over a dozen) emails, over a long period (a month). I do not recommend this website for used books because I found the customer service to be wanting. It's you against them (Abe and bookseller) and you have to fight both, with them passing responsibility back and forth. Amazon used books is better - at least Amazon offers fair customer service."

I was worried after the bad reviews but $75 dollars versus $535 dollars at a college bookstore was worth the risk.
