"I would strongly recommend against this bookseller. I ordered a book listed as in "good" condition, and specifically noting "Book shows a small amount of wear to cover and binding. Some pages show signs of use." Fully HALF of the pages were completely missing! When I contacted Abebooks for a refund, I was told that I'd have to return the book at my own expense (and they recommend doing that with tracking, which of course boosts the shipping expense considerably) and it was left completely in the individual seller's hands whether to refund return shipping, but they would if they agreed that the book wasn't in the condition described -- so I shipped it back, confident that they'd agree once they saw. Nope, they only refunded my original purchase amount, which means that essentially my entire refund was eaten up by return shipping. I'm out nearly the entire cost of the book despite having received a completely unusable book, and unlike Amazon, Abebooks takes no responsibility for their individual sellers if you're dissatisfied."
"Horrible experience. Worst in my many years of online shopping experience!! Even contacted abebooks and the reseller for refund but nothing! Paid for "priority" shipping $46 on a $98 order and yet one month later the parcel did not arrive and when I ask for refund, the conditions attached make it worthless to ask for the refund. They never refund the whole amount anyway. So this means that once you paid them, some of the money is sure to remain theirs. Never had such a problem with amazon. First time i used abebooks, and I am extremely disappointed. They do not even try to keep a good image with customers, replying bluntly and not making an effort to solve your issue. They cannot refund your money, that's it. They do not care about anything else. Oh of course they will refund part of your money, IF you send the item back to them in shorter time than they sent it to u under "priority shipping" and even then after you take off the shipping cost, the refund is worthless... "Don't use them. I too paid 12.95 for expedited shipping and they paid 3.70 for media mail. The books came in two weeks before my class ended yesterday and I immediatelyI emailed them, sent in photos per their request of the package unopened and of their shipping mistake and asked how to return for refund and told them I wanted my shipping charges returned. The jerks sent me an email apologizing for their shipping mistake and a a partial refund of a whole 2 dollars. I'm so mad! I'm disputing the charges with my credit card company and sent in a complaint to ABe and doubt they will do anything. I'm also complaining to the better business bureau. They ripped me off!!! "Abebooks is a hit or miss reseller. Don't ever pay for expedited shipping because it is ALL sent the same way. I have paid both ways, and have never received a shipping number. Big River Books in Powder Springs, GA sent my book regular shipping, even though I paid for expedited. The site 2 - 6 days shipping, plus 2 days processing. I should have my book no later than the 26th. But I might have it on the 27th. If the seller thinks you will get your book by the promised time on the site, the seller will send it regular mail."

"I've been pleasantly surprised by my purchases through this site. I purchased 5 teacher's guides through 3 different sellers through this site. Based on reviews, I thought there was a good chance that they might be the wrong versions. Turned out they were perfect! Price was amazing! I could not find these same books anywhere else. The set all together is running around $100 on ebay and I think I paid about $30 total here (plus $10 at another site). One book was missing 79 pages, when I contacted ABE they just referred me to a seller several days later. Nothing is their responsibility, even though everything goes through them. If you have money to waste, then buy from them and count on a 50% rate of success."
"I went to AbeBooks on line and found the book I wanted listed with TrinityCityBooks in Garland, Texas. They said the book was in good condition with minor wear and tear to the dust jacket and the price listed was reasonable. I placed my order on July 30th and received it on Aug. 4. "I've ordered 2 books from US to Italy. Because I should go far from home at the end of August, I selected and payed for the Priority Mail so I should have had them at the end of July. The 2 bookstores sent them as Standars Shipping.
I wrote them and to AbeBooks. Just one answered, apologizing: it told me that the Standard Shipping was indicated by AbeBooks.

"i've ordered books numerous times from abebooks and I'm at a loss why someone would give them a bad review. If you put in the correct ISBN number and match the author then there is no way you will receive the wrong book. Maybe they sent a wrong book by mistake but the ISBN # is unique to the book and publishcation date. Anyway, I'm superbly happy with abebooks and have NEVER had a problem"
"I was about to buy a some textbook for my uni course. One of the book is really expensive elsewhere except AbeBooks, So obviously, I went there to check it out. I double checked the publisher, author, ISBN and book edition, then ordered it. The delivery speed is fast, however, it isn't the book I ordered at ALL! The book sent to me are different in title, different author's, different publisher and obviously, different ISBN. I couldn't/don't really want to send it back cause it gonna cause me twice as much to send it back. Besides, the information of the book seller are not correct either. It show that they have shop in NSW, Aus but instead, they are scammer from India."
