My personal experience with this company was they position themselves as a "Distributor" but then sell directly to my end-users cutting out channel partners.
Distributors are typically mandated to sell through resellers based on their contractual distribution agreements with mfg; this is to avoid channel conflict and canalization. I know I used to work for some of the biggest Distro's...
I asked the ASI rep to back off my account a few years back, but every time I go to my end-user location I still see their stuff on the loading dock.
No.... Channel VAR's really don't need a distributor to compete with and undercut my pricing using their mfg direct distribution pricing! I asked them to back off my account a few years ago and just yesterday saw their stuff on my client's Dock!
MFG think twice about partnering with ASI as they will just use the distribution pricing to resell direct, wreck your reseller channel and force us to sell your competitors product out of necessity.
ASI pick a lane and stay in it, if your a distributor then be one, mfg monitor your distributors to ensure they are not punk you and the reseller channel by going direct.

"my company have bought from ASI since 2004 and I have always paid in cash, now in 2016 I wanted to buy in cash and they tell me the Miami office (Noraida ***-***-****) to buy in cash I have to give my social security number, bank information and give access to my accounts, Credit card, my questions is, if I pay cash, is it legal what this employee is asking? "Absolutely the worst customer service experience of my entire life. This company is notorious for it. They could not even set my account up with a valid and confirmed reseller certificate. They insisted that I should reside in the state that I have my business, absolutely ridiculous. I tried talking to several supervisors that insisted that this was correct. For more than 2 week we went back and forth. ASI is difficult for the sake of being difficult. There was no point to it. It was not founded in any law or rule. They asked of me what was unnecessary, outside the law, outside of company policy, and not grounded in reality. This is a new kind of stupid, insisting that they are right when there is nothing to be right about. "
"This is one of the worst distributor we had to deal with. All e-mails received from our rep look like SMSs, no punctuation, messages makes no sense unless u read them twice. They give u hell if you want to do a return, and they rarely ship in time (we are still waiting on 2 cables to ship out - order was placed 4 days ago; talked to our rep 3 times and told her we need them shipped... she was still waiting for confirmation from us to ship them, and now they are out of stock -- how can I make my customers happy when the distributor doesn't ship my orders in time). Not to talk about the overcharges on shipping. The 3 cables I ordered are about 1lbs in weight and 10in each ... I will have to pay around 22USD for shipment since they have shipped 1 cable and now have to ship the other 2. USPS would've charged about 7USD at most.
Branch manager told us that she can't take care of everything since she doesn't make all that much money off an order...

"How refreshing to find a knowledgeable, proficient and diligent salesperson with ASI (Charles Mason in Atlanta Branch). His follow through is excellent. Although the branch does not always have the inventory in stock, he has been creative in finding the products and getting them to me in a reasonable amount of time. ASI has had its problems in years past, but I have a renewed sense of confidence in ASI thanks to his efforts. "
"Great communication with my rep (Mark in the Tampa branch) and fast and cheap shipping. A great reseller... if they have the product in stock. Unfortunately, they seem to be very low on inventory quite often.

"This company is horrible to deal with. No one returns your calls. They won't take any returns back with out it being a huge problem. If you will call it then plan on being there for hours. Stay away from this one."

I have been a user of ASI for about 2 years. My first year they have been great. Some how the sales reps there can really give a r@ts a$$ about making the resellers happy. This is the 2nd chance i have given them. To say the least i am very disappointed.
I will be taking my business elsewhere."
