"Abe's seemed to have the best price on a 65" TV I wanted and their website clearly stated "free shipping, no tax". When I ordered the TV, I received a call from Abe's the next day. I was then told my city of 800,000 was "out of area" so shipping and insurance would add another $300 to the total. My city is on major interstate crossroads! I was able to cancel my order before my card was charged - that is the only reason I gave 2 stars instead of 1. I have noticed a number of web merchants in the NY, NJ area seem to have similar deceptive practices so I will not order from any merchant in that area in the future unless they are associated with eBay. (eBay will step in to make things right if one of their merchants do not live up to their promise). I did notice some customers had a good experience with Abe's but they ordered a camera or something else small that could be shipped inexpensively."
"Guess things have changed. Never had problems with Abe's until this recent attempt to place order at adversitsed price with free shipping. Shipping is NOT FREE when as a condition precedent to getting it you are required to pay an additional $203.00 for "shipping insurance".
A shameful bait & switch scheme that does not reflect well upon Abe's of Maine."
"ordering was very easy and quick ."
"Ordered a projector from their website and two days later called in to check on the status because I haven't received any update via email on the order. How fortunately I was by calling them! I found out that the one listed on their website was a grey market item, with no US warranty, but this info was not listed on their website. The item is listed as "New" with exactly same model number as listed on manufacturer website. The customer service rep was pushing me really hard to ask me to pay extra to buy US warranty from them. I then said the original manufacturer warranty should be good enough. That's when the customer service rep disclosed to me that the item is a grey market item carrying no warranty at all. Then the customer service rep was trying to let me pay $300 extra to get their so called "US Model". What a bait n switch... That customer service rep was so rude that at one point I was even thinking this rep was paid by Abe's of Maine's competitor to **** off customers and get Abe's of Maine out business on purpose..."
"Great Prices on A/V equipment! Thank you!"
"So Far so good, extremely simple and painless"
"I was sent items that were being sold as new U.S. models and the boxes were opened and stuffed with 3rd party/international items. They don't follow their business hours on google or their website and frequently ask for you to call back the next day. I was directly lied to by the manager and staff (verified by Canon, the manufacturer of the item I purchased) and if I wanted my money back, I'd have to pay 20% restocking fee and ship the items back. The evidence I have about concerning the manipulation of the goods I received is enough to charge them with 2 counts of felony fraud. STAY AWAY."
"The best price on the internet. Hopefully, the product arrives in great condition. I reserve comment until delivery. Great deal so far."
"Great price, easy purchase.
"
"Bait and switch operation, listed prices are grey market. They call the next day after your order is placed online to inform you and then jack up the prices."
"Great price. I upgraded the shipping to get it this coming week."
"I went to your own site of promo codes and none work. No explanation just come up as invalid. Why do this?"
"Abe's has been around and is a trusted name and can have some awesome prices."
"The best price for this super camera!"
"The process was straight forward. I hope the shipping timeframe is reasonable. I am excited to get it."
