"I had a issue about the model / import version of a LG TV. The Manager Frank called and apologized for the confusion. He was able to correct the problem and offer me a free extended warranty plan. I will update review once I have receive the paperwork to increase my rating. Thank You Abe's Of Maine for the reply"
"Low pricing, many selections to choose from on the site. Representative was extremely knowledgeable in helping me select the best product for my needs. Products ship fast! Will order again and again."
"Good Service and better prices.."
"Update 5/13/15 - Much to my non-surprise, I never received my TV even after a rep from Abe's contacted me regarding this initial post. They were shocked that I had given them a bad review on reseller ratings and wanted to ensure that I was happy with my experience with them... My order has now been lost in the void and I'm positive I will never receive what I ordered from them. Be wary of any extremely positive reviews of this place. I'm convinced that they're almost all bogus.
I ordered a Samsung UN75HU8550 TV from Abe's on 4/26. The next morning, I received an email and simultaneous phone call in order to "confirm" my order. It turns out that the model that is showing up on google shopping and other various websites isn't for the "US model" and are, instead, Canadian versions that "will not work" in the US. I was asked to upgrade my order to the US model that costs ~$1600 more than the order that I placed.
This seems like a classic bait and switch scheme and I am not happy. When I pointed out to the sales rep that I used to live in Canada and that there was no difference between the TVs in the great white north and the states, he told me that they just wouldn't be compatible and that I was incorrect (former Toronto expat here).
Regardless, this is extremely deceptive advertising and I doubt that anyone gets anything that they order from Abe's at the price that they place the order for on the website.
The constant upselling makes me cringe. I would definitely not recommend Abe's to anyone that's shopping for... anything."
"Great customer service over the phone. Went out of their way to make sure I was pleased with my order, with no pressure to "buy up". Received product quickly, exact as ordered, and it works great!"
"DO NOT TRUST THESE FOOLS. Thank goodness for the online reviews! Sure enough, 48hrs after my purchase i received a call from NJ with a representative trying to up-sell me about some international version.... I immediately asked him to cancel my order.
Abe's of Maine - at least have the ____ to just put the CORRECT description of the product on the site.
Also, consumers should be aware that, at least this TV, was not being sold with all the items that come with the TV if you buy it from a reputable company, nor is it under Sony's warranty!!!! BEWARE and AVOID THIS SHADEY BUSINESS."
"The website was very easy to maneuver and find what I needed. Checking out was a breeze. I spoke with a customer service person and he was very polite and helpful. I have had Great services thus far and will continue to be a customer. Thanks!"
"Kevin in customer service was very helpful, polite and knowledgeable. "
"EDIT: I'm leaving my original review below, but I've just realized I've been had.
I finally have gotten to filling out the warranty card and realize that it is not authentic. This was grey market all along.
Honestly, I would have been fine with it, but having been told that I was getting the real deal and STILL getting the overseas, unwarranted lens makes me irate.
I WILL NEVER BUY FROM THEM AGAIN.
First, the TL;DR version: Great lens, exactly what I wanted, great price, despite some eventually unfounded trepidation.
I wanted to by my wife a 50mm lens for her Nikon and did a search. Abe’s had it for about 20% less than everybody else and, without thinking it through, bought it quickly.
My heart sank a little when I got an e-mail and a phone call wanted to discuss the purchase since I have had shady upsells in these situations with other companies. I searched for Abe’s of Maine reviews and it SEEMED to confirm what I expected. Still, I called back and spoke to a nice guy who wanted to know if I had realized I had bought a “new factory fresh import model.” In essence, I clicked on the “grey market” version (they do sell the US version at a market rate price, by the way). I told him I hadn’t realized it and told him that I would like to cancel the order (the price differential is such that I’d rather pay for the peace of mind of a covered warranty).
Instead, he said he would go ahead and send me the US version for the price I paid. I waited for the other shoe to drop, but there was no other shoe. It was shipped free (I didn’t opt for the faster shipping) and today I received a perfectly new, US version of the lens.
I would definitely buy from them again: just don’t fear their follow-up phone call."
"Don't waste your time. I ordered (online) an import version of the Canon 17-40mm lens. It sold for about $200 less than the US warrantied version but I didn't care because this is an L lens and these things are built like tanks; not likely to need warrantied repair anytime in the first year. I first became suspicious about a half hour after the purchase when there was nothing in email from the credit card company that a transaction had been charged. Still nothing about an hour or so later so I googled Abe's of Maine. There's a lot of chatter out there but not much of it is good. Next thing I know I got a phone call from Kevin at Abe's of Maine pointing out the woes of a non USA warrantied product and that they could sell me the USA warrantied one for a great price; $799. I said that's what everyone else is selling it for. I knew where this was going and asked if the one I ordered was in stock and was told no, despite the fact that at 9:00 this evening it was still listed as "available" so I asked that it be cancelled. Lesson learned? Your best source of reviews is google."
"Made the order after doing some price comparisons, followed by some vendor research. After placing the order I took a call from Roy who was very courteous and helpful in explaining some options then expediting my purchase (at not additional costs). Great customer services. well done."
"This is an update to the below review.
I received 2 calls and an email from Frank; he was very nice and respectful. He offered to make things right for me to keep me as a customer; he offered to sell me the TV I wanted (USA model) for the low price I saw, and when he found out I already made a purchase elsewhere, he offered me a 3 year extended warranty on the TV. Very nice person, and excellent customer service. Too bad he wasn't the one I spoke to to begin with!
I will be back to make purchases here.
Thank you Frank.

Be careful when you order online from these guys, I also fell in the "ITEM YOU BOUGHT IS AN IMPORT THAT WORKS IN AUSTRALIA..."
I bought a 65" Samsung TV that came with a free TV mount, that they had in stock with a great price. Minutes later, I receive email from from them asking me to call. When I called, I was informed of the "import" version, and that they have the USA model for $300 more.
I do a lot of shopping online, and I would say I pay a lot of attention to any items I am looking for at the time, so a huge detail like an "IMPORT" is very hard to miss for me. And to tell me I bought an import model is pure B.S. Besides, we live and buy stuff in the USA, why would I want to by an AUSTRALIAN model????"
"Abe's had the best price for my product, an easy ordering method and even called to confirm that I was me when I asked for a different shipping address. Jeff was very nice."
"Was extremely impressed with their customer service and personalized attention. Would definitely recommend them to friends & family."
"Very GREAT! costumer service couldn't be happier!"
