"Recently, I moved into a new house and purchased an LG 47LS4600 47” HDTV for my family room. In the past, I purchased other brands of televisions, but prefer LG because I like the quality I can get for the price. I decided to buy my LG HDTV from Abe’s of Maine because every thing went well each time that I shopped on their website for electronics in the past. I like their prices, free shipping, and delivery times. In fact, a few months ago, I got a nice deal on a Nikon camera for my upcoming trip to Rome.
It makes me feel an extra level of comfort knowing that Abe’s has been in business for a long time. They have been around much longer than a lot of other companies that sell electronics, particularly online. They have really good customer service too. Whenever I call them, they have always been attentive and courteous. I feel confident that they definitely care about me as their customer. Good customer service when purchasing electronics online is an absolute ‘must’ for me.
Anyway, Abe’s did a great job of shipping the television and it arrived on time, as promised, in top condition. My family loves our new LG HDTV and it is a perfect size for our family room. The picture is sharp with great detail and the sound is crystal clear. I was able to depend on Abe’s to come through for me once again. I will definitely recommend Abe’s to other shoppers. I just told my brother and his wife about Abe’s when they came over to visit and saw our new LG HDTV. Now, they’re saying that they are going to buy one from Abe’s for their house!

"After much research, we chose Abe's of Maine to purchase our 65-inch Samsung LED TV based on the rock-bottom price. We went into the transaction knowing about the upsell call (previously mentioned by several reviewers) and hidden insurance charges.
In short, we received our new TV in exactly one week from the date of the order, in perfect condition, exactly as represented. We chose to upgrade to the "white glove" service but haggled for $200 in restaurant cards (which are completely useless, BTW). I simply felt more comfortable with the idea of our new TV being delivered by dedicated truck, and the additional cost was worth it to me. However, as previous reviews have mentioned, their "white glove" service is really just plugging the thing in to make sure it's not broken, so don't expect much more for your money. We did get the TV faster than if we had chosen standard freight, so that was a plus.
In any event, we still saved over $700 vs what we would have paid locally. The availability and selection from Abe's was better than what I could have found in my area. Overall, I am pleased with the purchase and would consider Abe's of Maine for similar future purchases."
"BUYER BEWARE!!! Purchased a TV from Abe's of Maine. Next day got an email to call them. They said there were extra Freight Charges in the fine print that was not in the final check out amount. For me it amounted to over $100! To get the TV I already paid for, I had to approve the payment of additional charges over the phone and subsequent to check out. In talking with Abe's representative, it was an obvious condescending, repeated dialogue of how I should have read the fine print by clicking on the hyperlink "View detailed shipping information" where it says in the fine print "For certain large screen LED/LCD, Plasma TVs, Large Appliances, Fitness equipment, SLR cameras, Camcorders and Lenses, a separate insurance charge is mandatory. It will be calculated based on the item value, weight and dimensions. Please call today to discuss your shipping options. We look forward to serving your needs." I guess my 46" TV was "certain large scree LED/LCD". I'll repeat, they do not give you the extra amount owed until after you have checked out and paid for the item so you can not know your final cost! That's apsurd! This method of doing business is extreemly unprofessional and hurts internet sales as you become weary of all small retail internet businesses.
After writing this review, I was contacted by Frank of Abe's of Maine. He apologized for my experience and told me the policy of charging people additional costs after their initial purchase had been eliminated and that the fellow that I dealt with was no longer with the company. As a token of their appreciation for the purchase they offered me a free 2 year waranty. Although I did not get the extra money I had to spend to get the TV, I did appreciate their token of apology."
"A Great store with an awesome selection.
Bought a 32 inch Samsung LED TV , it was everything we expected and more. I am very happy with this product, it works great and delivery was very quick. They have shipped on the same day and arrived 2 days later with the free shipping option.
I have a lot of stuff to buy from you guys. And surely I will come back to you.
Strongly recommended for any online purchase. Super fast delivery!"
"I ordered a Nikon d70 from Abes of Maine. The sales rep, was particularly very helpful. I called back for a tracking info and found out that there was a confusion with my order. It was resolved immediately, and I was called back in 10 minutes. The product arrived on time and was packed professionally. Love my new camera and I will definitely be shopping with them again."
"I recently ordered the Nikon d5200, the USA warranty and all promised accessories and a brand new factory sealed camera was delivered to me in perfect condition.

"I have to say that this store had the cheapest prices for my recent camcorder purchase. I placed my order and received the shipment by early the following week!
They were extremely quick and turning and shipping the product. The only downfall is that I had to pay for shipping. It seems like several on-line stores cover the shipping charges for high priced merchandise, however Abe's of Maine didn't.
Overall this is a great store. It had the item that I was looking for and at a great price. With the exception of the shipping charges, I am extremely pleased with their service. Nothing comes for free...

"This was my second order from Abe's of Maine, and although I had a very good experience with the first order, I was a little concerned ordering an 70inch TV from any on-line merchant. There was no need for concern. The TV arrived in only 4 days with no problems at all."
"I did a derriere backwards ordering from Abe's of Maine. First placed order and then belatedly read all the negative customer reviews of Abe's posted on various sites.
Purchased a Samsung UN65F8000 TV from Abe's in February 2014 based on a significantly lower price than I could find elsewhere with other online vendors. Plus free shipping for the item was shown on Abe's website.
After seeing my order sit for 3 days without any action after I had paid with PayPal, I phoned Abe's about status. Started calling at 10AM when customer service is supposed to open. Kept getting phone bot message stating to call back during regular business hours. Finally about 10:35AM, after numerous call attempts, I was able to speak with a customer service rep.
He immediately told me there is a mandatory extra charge for shipping insurance that is required with the free shipping. Armed with all the negative reviews I had recently read about Abe's, and which I mentioned to the customer service person (CSP), I said I wanted to cancel my order. I was not bluffing and was ready to walk away from the purchase.
The Abe's rep I was speaking with apparently did not want to lose the sale. After about 15 minutes of back and forth banter and the CSP putting me on hold a couple of times to talk with his supervisor, he came back and said he would wave the mandatory insurance and also throw in "white gloves delivery" for free if I stuck with the order. That I agreed to. He also promised the TV would be delivered by no later than 1 March 2014, which would have been about 2 weeks after I placed the online order.
The TV actually arrived about 5 days earlier than the drop dead date, which I appreciated. The "white gloves delivery", which the CSP said he was throwing in gratis as part of the deal, consisted of one delivery driver and no helper. The driver was on time and arrived within the 4 hour delivery window. In fact, he arrived at 6:30AM, which was the earliest time of the window. He had called me around 6AM and said he would arrive in about half an hour.
I helped him carry the boxed TV into my place. He opened the box, left the TV sitting in the bottom box portion, plugged the TV in to see that it turned on, which it did, and then said I would have to do the rest of the setup myself, including assembling the stand and putting the TV on its table, which was within 2 feet of the still partially boxed TV. I really had no quarrel with that either, although I was under the mis-impression that "white gloves delivery" included assembly and placing the TV where it is supposed to go. Had I paid extra for the white gloves delivery, I would have been a bit peeved. But I did not, and at least the driver did not leave the TV sitting curbside.
Before the driver left and prior to me signing the delivery paperwork, I tried as best I could, with the TV still partially boxed, to check it for physical damage. I did not note anything from my cursory inspection and proceeded to accept the delivery.
As of about one week later, the TV appears to be in good working order. No gripes there. I was expecting the worst based on some of the negative Abe's reviews about poor delivery experiences and occasional damaged merchandise.
To date, I am pleasantly surprised with the A+ cosmetic and working conditions of the TV. On the other hand, I do not have a real warm fuzzy about my Abe's customer service experience with this purchase. I am happy that I ended up paying exactly what the TV was advertised for and about the free shipping without additional charges. Because I had to jump through hoops to get that and to avoid paying an extra (mandatory) shipping insurance charge, does not endear me with Abe's for future big ticket or smaller purchases.
All I can say is proceed at your own risk and definitely do your homework beforehand. It could prove to your benefit, or maybe not as in this particular case, to dish out a few hundred dollars more than Abe's advertised prices and go with a vendor with a much better overall track record."
"Extremely bad experience with Abes of Maine.
I ordered a 65" Samsung HDTV on Abes website for low price and standard free shipping. Next day, a sale rep called me and required me to buy shipping INSURANCE for $140 bucks. I said website clearly stated FREE standard shipping, but the rep claimed this insurance is required and I have to pay it in order for them to ship TV to me.
Don't trust Abes of Maine. They won't sell you TV at the price stated on their website. They will try to force you to pay more to get TV you ordered. I decided to cancel the order and NEVER buy stuff from Abes of Maine. "
"Exactly the same thing as many of the other reviewers. I purchased a TV for $999.99 with advertised "free shipping" and then was contacted a day later by Abe's claiming that I had to pay another $150 for "insurance and handling". Needless to say I canceled my order, and will be taking my business elsewhere."
"POOR SERVICE!! I ordered a Nikon lens on Feb 8 and on Feb 11 the sales rep called me and left a msg to call back. I called and waited on hold, after almost 5 min could no longer wait and hung up. I then replied to the email from the sales rep, requesting he contact me via email. He called and emailed again on Feb 12, never acknowledging that I had called and emailed previously. I checked my order status today Feb 14 and it shows as cancelled. WHY?
I've NEVER received such poor service from an online merchant, and won't waste my time shopping here again. Ridiculous. If you want to deal with this kind of BS, call them. If not, shop somewhere else."
"Just wanted to let you know that one of your retail partners is not dealing with customers in an honest and upfront manor.
I placed an order on 2/9/2014 for a Canon EF 24-105mm f/4L IS USM Standard Zoom Autofocus Lens. the very next day I received a call from a customer service agent at Abes of Maine letting me know that I had purchased a lens with the “plastic mount” and not the Metal mount. He offered me the opportunity to upgrade to the “ Metal Mount model for $99 dollars more and it could ship today”
This is the oldest trick in the book in the Camera resell industry. It is written up on multiply websites as a bait and switch tactic. The lens they advertised and I purchased from their website is a Canon L series Lens… Canon does not make or offer to sell ANYWHERE in the WORLD a Plastic Mount L series Lens.
I am a Member of CPS (Canon Professional Services). I reached out to them and they Verified the information on the “Plastic Mount for an L Series Lens”
I was also lied to and told they did not have the “plastic Mount in stock and he personally would have to order it and it could take Months to arrive in stock” I have check every single day since I placed my order … .. the exact same item and it has always been listed as “Available” on their website. I have screen shots to back up everything I am discussing."
"I bought a little Samsung camera from Abe's and it was shipped quickly with all the warranty information and when I was on vacation the camera somehow got squeezed or bumped in my purse and the screen got ruined. I called Samsung and they sent me a prepaid return label and emailed me the camera's status during its trip to the repair shop in California. I had it back in 3 days, good as new. I am just saying Abe's sells great products that back their products. Now I look for Samsung whenever I make a purchase"
"
I recently ordered the Eos 5d from them, there was a phone call to confirm my order and to up sell accessories. They offered some pretty good prices on lenses but I declined being that I have so many different lenses from being in the photography industry for so long. My order arrived on time with no problems. The price I paid was about 30% cheaper than anywhere else I could find. I will be returning soon."
