"UPDATE 2: After speaking to a manager, all extra fees were waived and I purchased the television for the price I had originally agreed to. I was also upgraded to white glove delivery for no additional charge. He was very courteous and took pride in making the situation right. I will update the review once again after the television is delivered, but thus far I am very happy with the purchase and their customer service.
UPDATE: After speaking to a sales rep I ended up purchasing the TV for a little over two hundred dollars more than I had originally planned. The rep was friendly, and the final price is still hundreds less than other retailers online. Still, fair warning to others who see an advertised price on this sight with "Free Shipping", you essentially pay for the shipping through an insurance cost. Pretty frustrating to have to jump through extra hoops. I'll update this review after the television is delivered. Again, the rep was helpful and friendly, just a frustrating situation.
Purchased a Samsung UN60F8000 television from Abe's two days ago, received an email from them today saying that I need to call a service number to discuss a mandatory insurance charge. Makes no sense to me, never experienced this with any other major retailer. I have no issue canceling my order and purchasing the TV from another retailer just for the principle, but I'm curious what everyone here thinks I should do. Any advice is welcome, thank you! "

With all the bad reviews i was very nervous, but i had 0 issues tv came in 2 days with reduced fedex shipping to cover the insurance people say you will have to pay for anyway. got a long warranty even from samsung at a reduced price and tv arrived brand new with no issues in 2 days at my door. it is a brilliant tv, and abe's was great. saved me 100's of dollars and it came to me directly, even came with a wall mount which i planned on buying anyway. cant say enough how easy and smooth the process was and of course the bottom line is i saved a ton of money goign through abes. best decision!"

A month later I was told that the business has been sold and that the new owners (West Park Electronics) will not honor sales made by the last owner. They also refused to refund the money. Was advised to dispute the charge with my credit card company. Their website is still open and offers merchandise. Please don not buy anything from them or west park electronics. "I ordered an embroidery machine last week. The item showed as in stock, and I had a discount code for $10 off plus free shipping. The item shows as "Available" on the website. However, after waiting several days, I had not received word of any shipping of the item. Let's be real...in this day and age if you cannot ship immediately, you are in the wrong business. Finally, this Monday I received an email stating that the *manufacturer* made an error and was not delivering the item to Abe's of Maine as planned, and would I mind waiting another TWO weeks before the merchandise was received by them. Now mind you, this was not to imply *I* would receive it in two weeks...just that this is what the manufacturer told them. So I canceled the order. I sincerely try to avoid buying from big on-line retailers, because I like to give the little guys a shot.
Ultimately I canceled my order and placed a new order with one of the big guys. I ordered it yesterday, and will receive it today by *COB today* (!!!) with no additional charge....and cheaper than the Abe's of Maine site. I will literally HAVE IT IN HAND faster from another retailer than it was for this Abe's of Maine to even realize they were OUT OF STOCK.
And the Abes of Maine site *STILL* shows this item as available. Suspect.
EDIT **** The item was delivered from the other on-line vendor to my door via FedEx WHILE I was writing the Abe's of Maine review. The shipping origin: New Jersey. Destination: Virginia. I highly suggest Abe find a new business. They cannot complete!****"
"I paid them $2,130.00 via PayPal (Man, am I glad I used PayPal, because I would otherwise never see my money again)for a Panasonic TCP55VT60 Plasma. First the "Free Shipping" was a lie because they demanded $80.00 for 'Delivery Insurance'. OK, next is that they claimed during the ordering process that the units were in stock for immediate delivery, and then after weeks of waiting, I am told that the units ship directly from Panasonic, and that Panasonic doesn't have any more. Then after a bit longer, I am told that the business has been sold and that the new owners (West Park Electronics)will not honor sales made by the last owner. The truth is that Abe's of Maine filed for Chapter 11 Bankruptcy, and that all the people who paid their money for merchandise are never going to see their money again. Money stolen. Whenever I call and ask for a name of anyone in charge, I am given aliases, a/k/a nonsensical names like 'Jacko'. Sounds like a 'boiler room' type operation. Not once did they ever offer any proof of what they were claiming. Lucky for me I paid them via PayPal; it looks like PayPal may be able to refund my money. Got my fingers crossed. By the way, this explains why from the beginning, they actively discouraged me from using PayPal. "Let the buyer beware"!"

He did apologize and did tell you that Abe`s of Maine had been taken over by another company.
Your reply was you have disputed the charge on Paypal ,But you wanted Abe`s to send you a free TV for the inconvenience, or a review will be posted.
He explained to you that it is not possible and then you had replied OK then if all is well after you receive the TV you will then allow a charge to go through .( yes of course we send free TVs out to customers)
He had asked you to send a letter to the President Jack O ,which is his true name Jack his first and last name first letter is O.
Not a boiler room name as you insinuated ,but you refused to write a letter.”
