"If it weren't for the educational discounts I would not purchase from this retailer again. On two sepearate occasions I have placed my order and waited weeks to receive them. Finally I called in only to find out the produts I ordered were on backorder. Isn't this the type of thing you should communicate to your customer? This site has one of the worse lines of communication I have ever seen. There's no way to track your order status and when the product does ship (if it ever does, for that matter) they do not provide a tracking number. The blame for the delays on both occasions was placed squarely on the manufacturer. I think the reason is because they keep nothing in stock and place and order with the manufacturer only after the customer has made a purchase. Even if this is the case, the least academicsuperstore.com could have done was send me an email notifying me of the delay. Overall I am very disatissfied with this retailer.

"It's been 19 days and I have yet to recieve my item. I've recieved no updates since the 'Automatic Order Update'. They haven't responded to my e-mail that I sent on the 6th of August. I suspect that the item is backordered, but they didn't bother informing me. They've already charged my credit card for the full amount."

Week later I checked as order had not arrived. It was on backorder. I was never notified. There is no order tracking available on the web page. Did get e-mail responses. Order arrived two weeks after ordering and billing. Not worth the couple bucks saved over other vendors."
"Ordered on 5/11, did academic confirmation 5/12. Emailed 5/22 as I had not received item or heard anything from them--no response. Called and was finally told that it was back-ordered for another 12 days and they don't know why I wasn't notified. My experience is that sellers virtually ALWAYS notify when back-ordered, especially for almost a month. Now I have to order from elsewhere with rush delivery!"
"I placed an order with them for a memory card reader. Not something I'd expect to have to "prove" my eligibility for. There wasn't any mention on the web pages I ordered from about eligibility (or if there was it wasn't easy to find -I certainly missed it). Then immediately after ordering I get a message that I'll have to prove I'm eligible to recieve this item. Why couldn't they put this on the page BEFORE completing the order?
I contacted the manufacturer. They said they had no such requirements of eligibility (which didn't surprise me). So, I asked Academic Superstore to cancel my order. They did so but acted really snotty about the whole thing.
Like it's somehow my fault that you don't state things plainly before ordering? Give me a break! I'll order elswhere next time. "
"As there are not many commments on the 'reseller' thought I'd pass along my first time/recent experience....
Ordered both software and hardware, items shown in stock. Prices were very good (academic pricing obviously). Did my window shopping via internet and made order over phone. Establishing my academic 'credentials' was pretty easy and they accepted them via email (scanned letter and picture ID). Went without a hitch.
Items shipped very promptly and arrived within two days.
They didn't provide much (actually nothing) in way of tracking/order status, but as it showed up so fast was kinda not a problem.
Was a little nervous as I use Reseller Ratings to help vet my shopping sources and there was little to go on with this store, but it was a very good experience all the way around."

"Great source for academic software, from OS' to graphics apps to office suites. Excellent selection and some of the best pricing I've found. Orders processed fairly quickly (will need to fax in or e-mail copy of valid photo student ID). Only thing lacking is the ability to track order progress and shipping online. Otherwise a very good experience."
