Emailed Customer Svce asking for availability date and was told item is no longer available. Electronic merchants need to have their inventory and sites updated so that the status is current, or at least a warning that availability is limited. I am extremely dissatisfied with the transaction."

Though they cleared my proof of eligibility the same day, buried in the fine print of the order info was a statement that it would take 7-10 business days for them to provide an *electronic download*! "My experience with them was terrible. I bought a San Disk 512 MB mini SD card, but I just found out that it has been backordered for about three months. That part is because of SD.
Academic Superstore did nothing to notify me that it would take a little longer than expected (the shipment screen still says that it will ship late January, and it didn't ship until early March). I called them on a few different occasions and they always told me that it would be coming. Their support seems to just read off the same status screen that I can see, and that must be updated by hand once a month (I finally got the item, but my status page says that it is still backordered. Also, until about mid to late Feburary, the page said that the item had already shipped!). At first I tried contacting them by email, but I never got any responses. If you contact them, only do it by phone.
You might get lucky when they have the item in stock... but if not then you might end up waiting 2 months like I did."

"My experience with Academic Superstore was incredibly bad. I ordered a Creative Labs Zen Touch 20GB mp3 player on the 19th of December. I requested ground shipping (3-5 days). After seven days, I decided to call their (lack of) Customer Service Line. The (not so) helpful assistant informed me that I wouldn't be seeing the player until mid January. At first I was pretty irritated, I could have had the mp3 player by Christmas, not mid-January if I had gone through Amazon.com. The one thing that really annoyed me about them was that they didn't send any sort of email, telephone message etc. informing me of the delay! Apparently this is against company policy. I could have been waiting for weeks on end for this mp3 player! I promptly cancelled my order and ordered the exact same mp3 player on Amazon.com. Although their prices may tempt you to purchase a product from them, do not. They are absolutely the worst online electronics store out there. Be safe, go with Amazon.com."

"Ordered an item listed as "in stock." Then when I emailed a week later, was told item was backordered from the manufacturer and that I would receive it in another week. That week came and passed, and still no item. When I emailed customer service again, I received no replies at all.
Finally emailed their company President at ****@**** ... received a personal call from the supervisor of customer service. Item was backordered for another 2-3 weeks! I asked them to cancel it, and they gave me no hassles.
It's a shame that customers have to escalate to emailing the president to get help, but if you're in the situation, I recommend emailing the address above. They need to know!"

"Ordered a Compact Flash card on 9/30/2004. Paid extra for 2 day shipping. Recieved a email on 10/1/2004 that they have "verified your academic eligibility, and your order will be processed shortly". Called them on 10/4/2004 to check the status if the order and was told that the Compact Flash card was not expected to ship until December!!! What the heck? Not a single communication on the website or via email that I would not receive my order for months!!!
