"UPDATE: I received my refund yesterday, 6/2/08. My order was back in January. I also received a letter apologizing which included a couple of gift cards for me to use. I'm happy to have my money back -- I recommend not purchasing something that is on back order, but otherwise I think they will be fine.

No one did, so I called again the next day and canceled the order. The representative I spoke with had a foreign accent and told me it would take up to a week more to reimburse the charge to my credit card account. The reason I had chosen Academic Superstore was because they offered free shipping on the software, and their competition didn't. Now I think I know why they can afford to offer free shipping...

They telephoned me on the next business day and promised the software would be shipped within 3 days, and it arrived, faster than I expected and, yes, with free shipping, 4 days later. "I ordered a Timbuk2 Wallet - Model Monroe. I paid 20.90 and got free shipping. Most other places either had this wallet for 25.00 with free shipping or it was 20.00 and I had to pay for shipping so I was impressed by that. I placed my order on 8/18 in the wee hours of the night and the order was entered and shipped on the 20th. I received the order on Thursday, 8/23 in the afternoon. Overall I was impressed by Academic Superstore's service and prices and the free shipping made it even better. I would definitely order from them again!"

"Ordered Vista AE Sunday night, 2.5 weeks ago, but had to wait until Monday to scan & email the student Id (of a friend's son) to validate the order for him. (a) They sent the order notice/details to the child's email, not mine (the purchaser); (b) they lost/never-processed the boy's Id, so the order hung; (c) a week later I phoned and re-sent the Id per their instructions; (d) a week later the order was still hung; (e) I phoned again two days ago and they said "it should go out today"; (f) two days later, it still hasn't (if their online order status information is correct). These are -nice- people, but this isn't sane order handling! Two and a half weeks and still waiting for Vista to leave their hands."

I had researched on the site a couple days earlier and when i went back to place my order it seemed as if the stock had changed. "As a teacher, I sometimes make purchases for school use so I shop for things on sites that offer discounts to teachers. I had previously ordered software from AcademicSuperstore one time. They verified my employment and sent me my software. When I needed something again I placed an order with them. The site said that if you had ordered from them before all you had to do was say so in a reply email and they would look it up and send you your stuff. I did so. After 3 days and no email confirming my order, I checked my order history. No sign of my order. Not only did they not send the order, they did not even bother to email me telling me they needed to re-verify my employment. They just did nothing…except leave me believing my software was on the way. When I saw that it wasn’t on the way I did some checking on Resellerratings and found that Provantage had better reviews, so I placed the order with them. I sent in the required credentials and within 2 hours received notice that my order had shipped. They provided a tracking number. Because I was pleased with Provantage, I placed another order 2 days later. Same thing. Two hours later I had a tracking number. Because Provantage ships from different locations both of my packages actually arrived on the 3rd day after my original order. So, in the time that I waited for nothing from Academic Superstore, I received two separate shipments from Provantage. One came after 3 days and one came the very next day. I only paid for ground shipping on both of them. I can’t say enough about how pleased I am with the service I received at Provantage. I just wish I had checked Resellerratings before I placed the order with Academic Superstore. I would have seen that their 6 month rating is zero. My personal thanks to Kim at Provantage for her help."

Academic Superstore claimed that they did not have stock on hand to fulfill my order and canceled my order without offering any replacement. However, on the same day that they canceled my order, they reposted the same item on their site for $99. Academic Superstore probably just did not want to honor the $50 pricing."

"Ordered Guitar Hero SG controller listed on website. Called Customer service the next day to find that the item would not be in stock for another 2 weeks on 12/20 (ordered it as a Christmas gift). Website has no way of informing customers that their orders will not be fulfilled until a much later date.
