"My experience with Adorama was excellent. I had checked the price on Nikonusa.com. The price on Adorama was a few cents less, and Adorama added a bonus kit of Pro Optic 77 mm filters and other items. I'm curious about the glass quality of the Pro Optic filters; I had not heard of them before. But we will see. The delivery time was just a couple of days. "

"When I decided to consolidate my equipment, as a customer of Adorama for many years, I decided to give the trade-in experience with them a try. Some of my items were very well-worn, so selling on ebay or FB groups wasn't the best option for me. I also work full-time and have a large family, so taking time to take pictures of each item, running shutter counts, lens tests, posting and then shipping, would definitely delay the selling process for me.

Pricing: Adorama takes a 30 percent commission of the resale price but considering the amount of work they are saving me by photographing, testing, rating and reselling, it was worthwhile for me.

Time & Trading: The trade-in estimate did take a bit longer than expected to receive but with the Nikon & Sony trade-ins bonuses, that made sense. My initial estimate was low, but my adjuster listened, was open to fair negotiation and gave me a great deal for my trade-up after reworking the quote.

When to trade In: I definitely advise taking advantage of trade-in promo times if you want to get maximum value for your used items or trade in for demo items or used equipment. (Alternately, if you just have gear collecting dust or want to apply credit to your dream item, you have nothing to lose by trading in at any time.)

Purchasing Used Equipment: I've been purchasing refurbished Nikon bodies and lenses from Adorama in addition to their Flashpoint equipment, I can vouch for the quality of used/refurbished gear purchased for much better pricing than brand new.

I hope this review is helpful for consumers out there looking to trade in. I'm looking forward to trading up again next year and keeping up with the latest products as they evolve!
