"Placed an order for a modified case on Sept 27th. When I still had not received the case on 30 Oct, and was unable to track via their web page,I emailed Amamax's tracking department. Three days later I got this response:
"Your order was pulled and processed. If you do not receive it soon please contact me again and I will see what I can do about having the package traced. Have a nice day."
When nearly another week passed with no package, I tried to call customer service to cancel but was unable to get anyone on the phone. I wrote back to the email requesting that the order by cancelled. Got this email back:
"I apologize for the delay in my response as I have been out sick. I will have that sent to the people in charge of handling cancellations
and try to have that stopped. If you receive the package please refuse it. Have a nice day."
I am obviously not satisfied with the overall Amamax experiance, but I was impressed with Thomas Runchey's handling of my cancellation request.
Note: I have not yet received the refund, but it has only been 3 days. Will update when I receive it."
"I bought a case from them back on June 16, 2003. It is now November and the power supply burns out. I have emailed them twice about getting a replacement. No replies at all. They are fast when it comes to the inital sale, but terrible with followup service. I will likely buy from another vendor in the future due to their poor customer service."
"The generic speakers that came with a system I purchased 8 years ago finally died. I replaced them with Boston Acoustics BA745 since they are among the highest rated inexpensive speakers. Amamax had them new (not refurbished) for $39 delivered.
They arrived one week later. No complaints at all. Like an earlier rater, they did send an invoice e-mail stating that the order would be shipped UPS, then actually shipped it Fed-Ex. I did not really care.
The speakers are great. Not capable of real high volume but much better sound quality than my old ones. 39 dollars well spent.

"I placed an order with them on 10/24 and requested expedited shipping. I kept trying to track my order via their website for the past week but got an error from UPS saying they didn't have my tracking number. Come to find out they didn't ship the product becuase it is on backorder. Wouldn't it be nice if they could send a little email to the customer and let them know that their order was on backorder??? I thought so too. Unfortunately *I* had to contact *them* to find that out. I decided to cancel my order and buy from a reputable retailer. I sent two emails requesting my order be canceled but after reading all of the negative complaints here I decided to call and cancel with a live person. I called and got a hold of a customer (dis)service rep who immediately put me on hold after I gave him my order number. After holding for a few minutes I was then connected to the operators voice-mail...I tried to call back but only succeeded in contacting their answering machine again...do yourself a favor and buy from somewhere else. In the past week I've placed two seperate orders with ZipZoomFly.com and I've had them both in my hand withing two days. Also before you buy, check out the BBB regarding amamax.
****Update**** To their credit, I did recieve a reply regarding my order cancellation. Please also note that I have no qualms about the quality of their products (seeing as it was never shipped and I never intend to purchase from them again), however their customer service department needs a swift kick in the pants. If they spent half as much time responding to their customers as they did trying to defend all of the negative reviews on this site they might get a decent rep."
"Ordered an Xcase with 500W powersupply. Payed extra for certified PSU, Neon light, extra shipping box, expedited shipping. PSU, Light not yet tested, but appear satisfactory. Extra box protected well. Expedited shipping was a joke. One week after I placed my order, I emailed them asking for a status update, due to the fact that they have no status page with any relevant order info. No response. Emailed them again 4 days later. No response. Called them 2 days later, had to call twice and let it ring 100 times before this conversation takes place:
Me: "Hi I would like to check the status of order xxxxx?"
Amamax: "......It will ship tomorrow or next day."
About 15 seconds of silence, no explanation...
Me: "Oooookay, why didnt it ship last week, I payed for the expedited shipping. Was it out of stock or something?"
Amamax:"yes, was on backorder. Will ship tomorrow or next day."
So, apparently the dont know what emails are, because sending them one is about as useful as sending them a message with telepathy. And they dont seem to care about keeping you informed in the least. I just hope to god my PSU and Light work, because there's no way I'm gonna rely on their customer service to send me a new one...
I may have lucked out, my advice is to pay the extra 10-20 and buy from a trustworthy site. But amamax does have good prices on some really sweet cases! Just order it like 2 months before you actually need it, and you should be all set."
