"positive feedback.....very helpful on phone, including helping while I was installing the program......fast ship.....I would recommend to anyone....
"
"This company is doing a very good job!
My order was shipped promply and everything works fine.
I will continue to order from American Computech,Inc............Thanks, Tony"
"Great Deal, Fast Shipping, Exactly What Was Ordered, No Hassle At All, Will Buy From Again"
"This was my first time ordering computer related items from the internet. I am very pleased with the speed at which they processed and shipped my order. It arrived in good shape, packaged well. I received everything I ordered and I am very impressed with what I ordered. I had to call because I thought I ordered a different mouse than what I got, but it turns out that I did get what I ordered. They offered to exchange it for another of my liking but I probably will just keep the one I got. I was impressed that they offered to do that.
My recommendations would be high. I would not hesitate to order from American Computech again!! "
"Very nice product. Great communication, highly reliable company. It took a while (5 days or so) to be shipped from the company, but it was a full custom system. "
"I found American Comutech thru pricewatch....they seems to have lots of good feedback.....now i know why. They were extremely helpful over the phone, even tho I ordered on line. They shipped quicker than I expected..and I am extremely pleased with my new computer. I would recommend this company anytime!!"
"American Computech has some good prices on laptops with decent gaming performance. They don't offer the latest fastest components, but you can still get adequate performance and for about $2,000 less than an Alienware or other high-end gaming computer.
The only problem I had was that the order status did not indicate "Shipped" until after I had already received my computer. I was planning to cancel my order until the computer unexpectedly came."
"well built system with high quality components. wide selection of parts. used configurator system to select every component in the system, and they built it to spec. friendly, knowledgable staff.
had a store front/office where i could take delivery of the system and save on shipping. shipping costs were reasonable, but this option allowed me to put more money "into" the system, rather than spend it on a shipping company.
would buy parts from again."
"Dishonest and shady buisness practices in a word. This company seems more like a scam shop than a legitimate buisness. Beware of doing buisness with them. "
"Bait and switch- trying desperately to upsell me. Trying so hard, in fact, that it seems they have nothing better to do.
I'm ordering components for business workstation use.
Ordered Motherboard + CPU. Component specifications gathered from manufacturer website confirm compatibility of the components.
I received a call from Arthur with a heavy Russian accent that they recommend I upgrade to a higher priced motherboard. I said I would call back and double checked the component specifications.
Called back and attempted to cancel my order- I would prefer not to spend my money with dishonest resllers. I would be required to pay "something like 5%" restocking for components not yet shipped. A quote:
Me: "But if you upsold me you'd need to restock the parts anyway, right?"
Terry the tech: ".. well yeah"
I wanted an exact quote on the restocking fee, Terry would not give it to me. Terry would not give me a last name. "About 5% of $300". Another _exact_ quote:
"Between two people, this motherboard is crap and we get more returns on it than any other motherboard"
Called the sales line, asked about restocking fee. Decided not to cancel order. This is taking too much of my time. My email:

Received call 5 minutes later. Steve says:
"No problem, but you do know that this chip and motherboard are incompatible? They won't work together"
I say that it doesn't matter, I'm not planning on combining the parts (a lie- I know the two work together). He says fine, it will be out immediately.

Could it be a scam? You decide.

"My past experiences have been good but out of no where this firm acts now like a fungus in the pus."
"This company is apparently doing business under a variety of names and websites, all offering the same products, from the same street addresses for both main offices and warehouse. That's a MAJOR red flag when considering doing business with a supplier. Here are the websites I've found so far that appear to be one and the same company:
www.americancomputech.com
www.actonlinestore.com
www.newgenpc.com
www.acicomputerstore.com

This was my fourth built-to-order PC from American Computech, and my three previous orders were beautifully assembled, and arrived in perfect condition. This last order was well-built, BUT arrived with a vertical scratch down the front of the case. The case was scratched, but neither of the CD drives had any damage at all, so the damage was obviously caused by the tool that was used to open the packing case at the time the PC was assembled.
I immediately tried calling American Computech's support number -- and the phone rang and rang with no one picking up. I then used their online RMA form to report the damage. They insisted on seeing a picture of the case, which I provided to them, but they refused to concede any fault on their part, and made it clear that they thought I had caused the damage.
After a week of going back and forth via email, they offered to send me a new faceplate for $20, or I could ship the entire PC back to them at my own expense so they could inspect it themselves. I declined the offer, and will do business elsewhere in the future.
It doesn't say much for the common sense of a company that won't spend $20 to keep a repeat customer happy. Not only have they lost the sale of the three or four computers I would have ordered from them in the next few months, but they've also lost the referral business I would have given them. This is why companies like Dell do so well -- they knock themselves dead to keep their customers happy, even though they don't necessarily offer the best hardware choices for PC buyers.
American Computech does offer a good selection of brand name hardware, and you can easily configure a great high-end machine at a decent price using their online configurator. But all that's meaningless when their customer service is lacking, and the fact that they are using so many corporate identities make one wonder what they are trying to hide."
"If you don't mind waiting and waiting and waiting and . . . well you get the idea. Their product is really good, when it finally arrives. I did have numerous problems with this company's customer representatives. I have talked with Fidel, Steve, and Eric at the warehouse and a few people at the sales office numerous times. I ordered my laptop late on August 5th, officially August 6th ET. My order stated that shipment would occur withing 7 business days, or I would be contacted if there were any delays. I don't know how long it took them to figure out it was on backorder, but by the time I first called on business day 8, I was told it was on back order, and that it would ship early the next week. They could not explain why I had not been contacted regarding the delay and that I should contact the Sales office. Still during their business hours, I called the sales office and got no reply, not even an answering machine. The next week I called Sales and they simply stated that it was their policy to contact me and that I should have been contacted. Astounded that these morons could not check the "sent" folder common in most mail programs, I simply hung up and called the warehouse to see how things were coming. At this point I found out that the laptop was still on backorder. As I was selling my old computer and moving at the end of August, I decided to send an e-mail asking for prompt delivery, and barring that, a rebate to cover the cost of purchasing storage media, but got no reply. I recieved a call on the day I was moving out, asking if I would accept a laptop with a SXGA+ screen (with no mention of a discount). As I had paid for the UXGA screen, I said that I would wait and asked how long that would be. I was told that the laptops would be in by the end of the month, and more or less, that was true. I recieved my shipment a few weeks later, as I had to drive 100+ miles back home to pick it up. With the apparent intelligence I had seen so far, I didn't dare risk giving them a new shipping address. After installing an OS, I discovered they had in fact sent me the lower resolution SXGA+ screen. This was confirmed by looking at the side of the box and seeing the SXGA+ box checked. I checked the packing slip and it still said UXGA, which was what I had ordered. On Monday of the next week, I called the warehouse and asked why I had not recieved the UXGA screen I had ordered. They told me to call the sales office, and gave me the number, which I already had. When I asked the Sales office the same question, they said that I had requested the SXGA+ screen. I informed this misguided soul that I had never and would never request such a thing. I was then directed to call the warehouse again. At the warehouse, I was given the same run around as before, but after telling them that I had already called Sales, I was given two options: keep the laptop as is, or return the laptop(most likely with a restocking fee). At that point, I asked to talk to a manager, which I was informed would not be in until 3pm ET. I later found out that this was normal. Apparently Steve and Eric only work 2hrs a day. I finally got ahold of Steve and he gave me his e-mail address to fully explain the problem while he investigated it(i.e. he wanted to go home). I sent an e-mail that night demanding the correct laptop be sent, and a discount for the delay and costs incurred. After recieving no response, I called again 2 days later. Steve said that he had sent an email to my account and summarized it for me. They would not give me any money or merchandise for my costs, trouble and delay, but would replace the laptop with the correct laptop. At that point, he explained that their supplier had sent them the wrong model, and it was none of their fault. B.S. (Apparently they're illiterate, which might explain the lack of response to e-mails). Still very uneasy I obliged to send the laptop back. The next day, I recieved an email from "Associate#465 " According to the original time stamp (the earliest of the 3), the e-mail had been sent following my call, even though it had been forwarded twice. Also, the original e-mail was addressed to the sender, not me. (Probably trying to cover their tracks - very poorly at best). This was just the beginning of the hilarity of the message. I brought the computer back home the following weekend. For the first time, they did have prompt service. The package was picked up on Monday and the new laptop arived on Friday, September 26th, in time for me to drive back again to pick it up. Luckily this time it was the correct item, and thanks to the fast system, it took very little time to setup. When all was said and done, I had spent the original cost of the laptop, $70 for media, $60+ and 12 hrs driving, over an hour calling, and 51 days before my item was delivered as ordered."
"I hope you are reading these reviews BEFORE your purchase and not after. If you are I've got 3 words for you. "GO SOMEWHERE ELSE". If you've already purchased and are waiting on it, I've got 2 words for you. "You're @!%$#@"
This place is pitiful, They actually take your pay the instant you purchase in their site, and leave you wondering if you will ever get your product.
They have no good Customer Service hours, and Dont Even Try To Email Them! You'll never get a response.
Even after months of dealing with them they were claiming my delay was because of "my funds". It took tons of calls and emails for this brilliant company to discover they were paid on the first day I ordered! By then of course the items was backordered.
Then when I attempted to cancel the order, figureing a 20% cancellation fee might be worth it, it was "already built and in the mail". But would you ever believe it really wasnt! In fact according to the records they sent me, the same order was shipped three times in the same month.
I've never dealt with a worse company on the net, or in the real world.
After months of daily harrassing calls(from me to them),I did finally receive the product, A laptop I am scared to use because the case is so flimsy you can feel it warp when you pick it up.
Basically if you are waiting on your purchase and you aren't religious, you'd better move fast cause you're gonna need a lot of prayers in your future!!!
If this was a company down the street from me, I would have beat the manager to a bloody pulp by the end of the first month. I hope their company fails miserably so they'll no longer be sucking the blood off their customers.
Maybe I'll send another review later where I express how I really feel!!!"
"I ordered a ACI Disruptor 16", 1GB PC2700 ram, 60GB 5400 RPM drive, and a 3GHz intel cpu on Sept 2nd.
I got an email stating that the order was being processed and would be expected to ship in a couple days on Sept 8th. By Sept 11 it hadn't shipped yet and so I called for a status. I was told that it was scheduled to ship the next day. Sure enough it shipped the next day (Sept 12).
I received the laptop today as ordered on Sept 16th. Every thing was there as ordered. There is limited docs with it and other than a quick start guide there is nothing, but as a Unix admin I better know how a computer works. =)
I started to install Windows XP (I know Unix admin using windows - shut up!) but I didn't have the key available so I got up to that point.
Up to that point everything has worked.
This thing is a beast and fast! I am used to my M700 850Mhz from work and this is just sweet.
I was leary of my order when read the posts here but I got what I orded and on timeish. Yeah it was a couple days "late" but that is no big deal. Hell Dell wasn't even able to ship a comperable laptop until the 24th!
At the prices for what I got you can't beat it. I would recommend this company to people even though there are a few bad comments. Ask around about any computer reseller and you will get bad experinces. I have plenty from work.
Also coming from doing phone support a few years ago I know how some people come across on the phone, so take the "rudeness" of this company with a grain of salt.
Sept 19th:
FYI I have put WinXP, Debian, and Red Hat on triple boot and not a problem. Debian needs XFree86 4.3.0 to work but other than that it is sweet!"
