Dubious Product and Inept Customer Service

"If I could do this review with no stars, that's what they would get. I don't believe for one second the legitimacy of all these 5 star reviews. My wife and I purchased a king-sized AS3 and their support frame about this time last year. Amerisleep uses a subcontractor to deliver and set up these products but they don't train them. I was told by the subcontractor that they didn't know anymore about the products than the fact the mattress needs a few hours to decompress from its packaging before its ready for use. When I got home from work that evening, I went upstairs to inspect the mattress and noticed it was not level. On inspection, I discovered the support frame had been delivered with twin-sized slats that were too short to straddle the frame to support the mattress. The subcontractor left it that way and said nothing. Had I not noticed, then my wife and I would have collapsed through the bed frame once we got on it. Fortunately, there was enough time for me to get to a hardware store for materials to support the mattress. I sent the receipt to Amerisleep, asked for a reimbursement, and that they come pick up the twin-sized slats and replace them with king-sized slats. Amerisleep has a cookie cutter approach to customer service complaints and wants you to photograph "the damage" before they will address your concern. I explained to the customer service representative that there was no damage -- we'd simply been sent the wrong sized slats. After getting nowhere with him in this discussion, I asked to speak with his supervisor. He told me he was the "customer service manager" and that he didn't report to anyone. This wasn't the only complaint I had with Amerisleep and had a number of contacts with them. I was told by another customer service representative that Amerisleep insists on photographs because "people lie." So, consumers should be prepared for a bit of hostility from Amerisleep when they call with complaints. Amerisleep doesn't have good inventory control, and apparently has no means to verifying what was sent to you. Eventually, Amerisleep agreed to reimburse me for the hardware purchase, but never actually sent the reimbursement. When we bought the mattress, we were told that if it didn't work out, we could exchange it and try out every other mattress they sell until we found one that worked out or we could get our money back. We were also told we would be able to speak with one of their sleep "experts." That was not our actual experience. It is hard to believe the Amerisleep mattresses are a supposed remedy for back pain. My wife and I like a firm mattress, but this thing was unforgiving and caused us pain. When I called to complain, we weren't offered a different mattress or to talk with any sleep expert. Instead, we were told they would send us a "comfort layer." So, we got the king-sized comfort layer, but it was sent with a queen-sized cover. When I called and reported that, I was told they were "expediting" to me the correct-sized cover. I never got it. The comfort layer didn't work and we sent everything back. When Amerisleep comes to pick up their stuff, they send a company that specializes in hauling junk -- which is an apt description of what they sell. They would not reimburse me for the several hundred dollars spent on their support frame on the ground I "could still use it," even though they'd sent us the wrong sized slats and had never corrected that problem. The support frame also went to the trash. About 4 months ago, I received an email from a customer service representative that I still had an "open issue" to address. I spoke with the fellow and went through this whole story. He told me he would speak with whoever the decision-makers are at Amerisleep. I've never heard back from Amerisleep. "

Pleasant Service, nice people- first class.

"Ordered on line mattress, process easy and seamless, sent confirmation emails and delivery within days- just like they promised. I wasn' t able to open for a few days and when I did I realized I ordered the wrong size mattress. I figured I would "try" it anyway and then realized I was not happy with mattress. Amerisleep coached me on how to return- it was easy, the staff was helpful and pleasant, I was credited full amount.

First class service-they should be proud!

Still waiting on delivery

"We are on our second bed, the first one was a bit too hard we ordered another one almost a month ago and still haven't gotten it so not really sure what's going on but can't really say we are unsatisfied yet"

Great company, all around.

"I ordered my mattress online and it was a big order for me to do sight u seen, I got a reassuring call from their customer support the next day to answer all my questions and make sure I was happy. I ended up feeling my mattress was too firm, and I called and talked to customer support again and with the 100 day guarantee they made it right and I love my bed. My lower back pain is finally easing up after months of pain and discomfort. "

Very Professional

"I thought that the individuals involved with both my initial questions I had when I ordered were very capable and knowledgeable about the product.
I may have a unique situation, in that I ordered the AS5,, and was very hopeful that this would do the trick. I had gone through lower back surgery about a week and a half before I ordered this one,, as my older one was NOT working.
I did try this mattress out for a full 30 days +/-, and it didn't do the trick either,, so I contacted them about a return and refund.
This is where this company showed me their true colors. It was awesome,, period. They were professional and courteous,, and let me know exactly what I needed to do,, and they took care of the rest.
Except for my back surgery,, I'm certain this would have been just right for me,, as I am almost exclusively a side-sleeper.
Thanks to everyone who had a hand with my (could have been awful) experience.

Inaccurate review

"The mattress itself is ok but working with Amerisleep customer service was less than enjoyable. I emailed several times about when to expect my order and had a difficult time getting a decent reply. Their correspondence is lacking. I finally received notice my mattress was shipping a week after I received my mattress. Then when I looked at the review I left on their website I found out they cut it off and only left the parts that were good. The review was not accurate because they left off my bad experience with them. "

mattress is great

"I bought the AS3 mattress and although they warn there will be a breaking in time, from the first night I slept well. It is a comfortable and supportive mattress and has definitely helped with my back issues.
However, I also purchased the adjustable bed frame and have not been happy with it. The remote is not designed with the senior population in mind. And I would guess that is the majority of the customers of adjustable beds. It is a flat screen remote and extremely bright when in use. I wish that there was another option with buttons you can find by touching the remote. Plus mine isn't operating properly. They kindly sent a new one, but the process to sync the new remote with the bed requires pushing a button on the motor that is located right in the middle of the bottom of the bed frame. Since I have back issues this is an impossibility for me to manage. So although I love the mattress and would recommend it to anyone, I would advise against the adjustable frame. And it is the part of the purchase that is not returnable.
