"The owner hung up on me several times, Charged me for express delivery that came late is and ignored multiple emails of mine. Also the cheese was very mediocre."
"Check the shipping charges before you order! These people are ridiculous, not to mention they only have about half of what they show, with no sign of restocking. I've been trying to order for three months. Stuff that was out of stock in January remains out of stock today. My $50.00 gift certificate is worthless."
"Our 3rd shipment arrived RANCID and artisanal cheese refused to send another shipment. DO NOT USE tis company!!!"
"On February 11, I ordered a cheese platter. Per the site's instructions, it would be expected to be delivered on the 13th. When I received the shipment noticed, it said that it would not be arriving until the 14th. That's a little annoying, but no big deal. The east coast was hit by a nasty storm on the 14th, and the carrier could not deliver my package. They refused to let me pick it up at the distribution center, and did not deliver my now rotten cheese until the 18th.
I filled out their online form to file a complaint. No dice. I tried calling customer service. Nothing. When I finally reached someone, they took my information and promised me that a supervisor would call me back. Apparently, a claim would need to be filed with the carrier, and they needed to get that process started before they could talk to me about a refund or replacement. Fine. I was annoyed at how long it took to reach them, but I am not an unreasonable person. I know that the storm was not their fault, and neither was the carrier's inability/refusal to deliver it on time.
They never got back to me. It's been almost a month now, and I haven't heard a single word from them. HORRID customer service. I can't speak to the store itself, but if you're considering an online order, go elsewhere. If circumstances beyond your control prevent the prompt arrival of your product, you're stuck with rotten food and a company who never gets back to you. Buyer beware."
"I placed an order for 4 pounds of premium artisanal cheese on Saturday 10/22/11 at a cost of $75 including $15 shipping.
On Tuesday 10/25/11, I received delivery of my order.
On Wednesday 10/26/11 I received an email from Zulay Perez stating that my credit card was declined. I called immediately to resolve, thinking that artisanal cheese shipped a perishable product to an existing customer.
I was pleased by the customer service. I gave artisanal cheese a secondary credit card number. Sometimes, one-time use numbers obtained online from the larger credit card vendors are declined for bogus reasons.
Then, the next day, I received a duplicate shipment. So, I ended up with 8# of cheese.
I emailed Zulay, and ****@****, ****@****, ****@**** etc asking what I can do to prevent future duplicate orders.
I asked three times. No one has responded. Given the product prices artisanal charges, and the high shipping costs, I would patronize Whole Foods for premium chesses and avoid artisanalcheese.com.
11/09/14 UPDATE
Seems a lot of folks on the cheese-of-the-month plan were burned by non-delivery over the last several months. I received an email from the company today proclaiming they have relocated to New York's Hudson Valley and are taking orders again. Really? My questions are will Artisanal fill these orders? Has Artisanal established a decent customer service department? Prices on the new website remain on the (very) high side, many quoted prices are for a 1/2 pound. I would still recommend purchasing from local stores rather than taking a chance on Artisanal not shipping, and absorbing high shipping costs for a perishable product."
