"Ordered an "In stock" alternator and some lightbulbs on May 26. The lightbulbs took a week and a half to arrive. As for the alternator, twenty-one days later I still do not have the part. I contacted customer service and was advised it ships from the manufacturer and may take an extra 7 to 10 business days to arrive. That was not mentioned on their website or in my order. I had never tried this company, but the prices were a little less than the place I normally order from [RockAuto.com "
"I ordered on Sat and they charged my credit card immediately. Okay I get that. Then they generated an order status e-mail with "tracking information" so I decide to be cool and patient about things. A week later no wiper blades--(its okay who needs wiper blades in the winter anyway and besides ONLY one was ripped). So I go in to check order status and tracking information only to find out they canceled the order and didn't bother to tell me or generate an e-mail. How nice of them.

"This was my second order from Autobarn, the first being a battery in August of this year. Since that transaction worked well, and I needed an item that my normal supplier Rock Auto did not carry, I thought I would try this merchant again for part of the order since they offered free shipping due to the amount of money I was spending. My order consisted of maintenance items like belts, hoses, PCV, tune up items, etc. for a Dodge- nothing special order or exotic from Autobarn. The one special order item I bought came from Rock Auto, who promptly contacted me via email for additional information.
I split the order between Rock Auto and Autobarn and am sorry I did so. Both orders went in on the same date (9-21), and Rock Auto as usual emailed order confirmation and tracking information, which included what was in each box with the tracking number for each. I had all but the special order part delivered in a few days (by 9-25, four days) via ground shipping.
After about a week and a half of no info, on 10-2 I did a status inquiry with Autobarn via email and this netted an automated reply followed by a reply on 10-3 asking what "item" I had ordered (I had included my order number in the original email inquiry, so this was a truly stupid question). I replied by copying the invoice Autobarn had sent me. A few days later (10-6), I finally received notice my order had shipped, although it did not say what. There was a disclaimer that if I had ordered multiple items they may not arrive at the same time.
As another indicator of how slow the Autobarn shipment process is, I placed another order for a foreign car with Rock Auto on 10-2 and had these parts in hand by 10-5, again with ground shipping.
Also, the online catalog for Autobarn is far more difficult to navigate than the one for Rock Auto.
In summary, I guess if you only need to order one thing and don't need to know when it is going to arrive; this is a good place to shop. Otherwise, go someplace great like Rock Auto. I know this sounds more like a positive review of Rock Auto, but I was in a position to review both at the same time, so this is what I did. The few dollars saved at Autobarn were not worth the inferior service.

The Optima battery I bought in August 2008 crapped out in May 2010. I had to pay out almost $60 for shipping both ways to get it replaced. Find another place to buy your parts."

I ordered a few items from this site. They were meant as gifts. When after a week there was no sign of these items being shipped, I contacted them via their own customer support site to check whether my parcel would make my deadline (I was leaving the country). I received no response. So I decided I'd better cancel the order all together as I got the sense that what I wanted was out of stock (no thanks to their so-called non-communicative customer support department). Strangely, still no response or confirmation after my cancellation request...
Almost a week later (this was now one day before my flight and more than two weeks after I had placed my initial order), someone finally decided to reply to my mail, stating that my order had shipped on that day. No other explanation offered whatsoever. Huh? What about my cancellation request a week before? What the hell??
So this package did arrived eventually, almost three weeks after I placed my order and one week after I had canceled my order. At this point I had already left the country. So next I order my PO Box service to return this parcel to its original sender (Auto Barn). I have since sent them numerous emails (7) in which I have *politely* asked for this issue to be resolved and for my bank account to be credited, but nothing. Absolutely no reply or any type of acknowledgment whatsoever. We are now one year later, and still nothing. Not only have these people completely ignored me, they've also kept all of my money ($169.00!).
DEFINITELY DO NOT GIVE "AUTO BARN" ANY OF YOUR BUSINESS.
THEY WILL JACK YOU.
If you have placed an order with these people and run into any kind of issue, your best option is to ask your bank to initiate a charge back. Don't wait like I did until your only option is to sue them. Most banks will only give you 90 days to contest a charge.

I had to leave a message. No email from them. We had to wait a long time, but it finally came. Although it was not the case, it appeared that they were charging us for the return postage. Very confusing. We promptly returned the unit. No email from them. Did they receive the unit? Were they replacing the unit? Were they refunding? After a long wait, I called and cancelled the order. "Prices are really good but customer service has a lot to be desired. Communications was terrible. Placed my order on a Friday, recieved confirmation, then an email saying the item would ship in a week. I ordered it under the pretense that it would ship in 1-2 business days.
I called to cancel the following Monday and it took at least six attempts before I reached a person. The other times, the call was disconnected. I cancelled the order and was told, "Your credit card wasn't charged so we won't have to issue a credit.".
The next day, I recieved an email notifying me that my order had shipped. I called them again and eventually talked to a customer rep. They stated that they must have forgotten to cancel the order and either refuse delivery or call for a Return Authorization.
UPS delivers it to the door (would have refused delivery) and I call for the Return Authorization. I asked for a UPS account number to charge the return shipping back to them and they said that return shipping was the customer's responsibility.
Even though they failed to cancel the order, I got shafted with the return shipping costs. I've got to need something really bad before I do business with this merchant again."
