"Purchased cowling to repair motorcycle. Unwrapped when ready to do repair. Cowling damaged. Wouldn't accept return since past 30 days. In November 2018 while cleaning our garage, my motorcycle was knocked over, breaking a mirror and snapping off a big piece of the front cowling. I ordered replacement parts from Babbitts Online. They came promptly. I was not ready to do repair but put the cowling, which they shipped wrapped in plastic and paper, obscuring my ability to actually examine the cowling, up on a high shelf in my garage. I left it wrapped in the paper and plastic they shipped it in. This past weekend, I was ready to do the repair (finally warmed up in Vermont on a free weekend), but when I unwrapped the cowling, there was crack in it through a screw hole. I contacted Babbitt's requesting an exchange, but they said they would not take an exchange after 30 days. I don't know why I would be expected to fully unwrap a product that had been (presumably) carefully wrapped for shipping prior to my being ready to do the repair. The item still was in its wrapping when I opened it (the photo I sent them showed the item, the paper and plastic wrappers and part of the protective covering still attached to the cowling). They simply stated that they could only take returns for 30 days afterwards, and asked if I wanted to buy something else! They apologized for the inconvenience. Pretty funny really. The cowling was a yellow cowling for a Kawasaki 2008 Ninja. The price was $615.97. So receiving a cracked cowling is not merely an "inconvenience," it is an expensive waste of money. I didn't need to open it up and certainly didn't imagine they would ship a broken cowling. The 30 days limit on a return in this case seems unreasonable. I wrote them 3 notes about this, and I received 2 responses that I was out of luck due to the 30 day return policy. "
