Their warranty policy is a scam!

"Supposedly a 3 year warranty but it starts on the day of your purchase not the day you receive your tree. I called to try to reason with them and help me since the tree is for a hotel and we have many christmas parties this weekend, not to mention that we paid over 2200.00 for it. They did not offer any assistance at all! "

Update: (Still) Love My Mountain Meadow Wreath!

"I recently moved and was a little worried about how the wreath would hold up after being boxed up and probably thrown around by the movers. It still looks great! We hung it on our new door, fluffed it a bit, and it looks beautiful. Its a bit of a battery-**** so we've stopped using the lights (replacing those 2 D's got annoying), but it still looks nice unlit.

I love my Mountain Meadow wreath from Balsam Hill! It is decorated but doesn't look too overdone. It is also incredibly realistic - my neighbors all thought it was the real thing! Their website was easy to use and the wreath arrived on time with no problems. I can't wait to order more from them - I think next year I will try one of their fall wreaths!

Trouble with lights and customer service

"Ordered a 7.5 ft balsam fir with multi color and white lights with a remote on black friday received in no time at all tried putting the tree up and ran into a problem with the remote battery was dead. After purchasing a new battery the reciver on the tree did not function was told a new one would be shipped. I was on the phone twice to put figure all this out and the customer service is terrible had to ask to speak tpo a manager Rico came to the phone he is the one that told me that the battery on the remote had failed and I should replace it hopefully in a week I will have a new receiver and can light the tree. If you purchase a Balsam hill tree good luck with the lights."

DO NOT BUY A TREE FROM THIS COMPANY

"I bought a pre-lit tree 3 years ago and have had nothing but problems with the bulbs working. The very first time I set it up there were lights not working and I called and they sent extra bulbs. Last year (year 2 with the tree) I set it up and an entire section was out. They sent a new section that I received just before Christmas so I didn't bother tearing the tree down to insert the section, I just kept it for this year. I set it up this year and at least HALF of the lights on the entire tree were out. I called them and they informed me that my 3 year warranty had just run out a few days ago. I asked them to send me a new tree since this one had issues from day one and they refused. They offered to send me a couple of strings of lights. I paid over $700 for this tree because it was supposed to be easier to set up since the lights were built in. This has been the most aggravating experience I've ever had. You are better off just stringing lights every year because if the lights go out you can just add another $5 string. "

A simple order gone bad

"This all started with a simple request for 2 monogrammed stockings. Our first order arrived with no monogramming. We contacted Balsam Hill and they apologized and acknowledged the monogramming request on the order and will reship another pair. 2nd order came in a few days later, no monogramming. A third call came in, actually, the customer service people where very good with us but something is broken on the quality and order fulfillment. The third order was received, the shipping invoice showed the monogramming request, but no monogramming. We were promised a $100 certificate and credit on the stocking mistakes. Another set of stockings was promised and arrived, and once again, 4 strikes and received plain stockings with no monogramming. Another call again and asked about the $100 certificate. We were told there was no record of the credit and the customer service rep did not follow up on the credit request. They did see it on the call records, but no follow up.

On top of the stocking mess-up, we also bought a $1200 10 foot lighted tree. When we plugged in the top section, a set of lights where out. I had to take top down and check every plug, fuse, to try to find the issue of the one strand that was out. This delayed us in decorating the tree for our family to enjoy. The new top arrived a week later. Sorry state of QA to have a brand new tree arrive with sections out, especially for $1200.

We have since donated the 8 stockings to Toys for Tots.

I would give them a 0 rating if I could. Terrible product order fulfillment QA on stockings and tree lights. The stockings should not have gone out, 4 strikes, and the top tree section should of been verified before shipping.

DON'T BUY FROM BALSAM HILL

"DON’T BUY BALSAM HILL.
After doing quite a bit of research, even though it was by far, the most expensive tree, I decided to spend $800.00 on a 7 ½ foot, Balsam Hill, Vermont White Spruce. Big Mistake. This isn’t a tree, it’s a commitment. The first red flag was when the tree showed up in two boxes that looked like it they had been through a war and taped together by my 8 year old nephew.
After pulling the beat up packing tape off the box, I was pleased to find a nicely wrapped tree, with all kinds of ribbons and extras, like gloves. Unfortunately, the gloves turned out to be the most important thing in the box. With the amount of work that you need to do to get this tree, even close to presentable, you need the gloves to prevent massive chafing and blistering. The work requirement became immediately apparent after I assembled the tree. It looked terrible and required hours of branch “fluffing” to get it looking remotely like a real tree. Finally, after a couple of days and hours of fluffing and manipulating, I got the tree to look as good as it was going to.
Now, I purchased from their “most realistic” collection and it did look realistic. Unfortunately, it looked like our real tree used to look at the end of the holiday, right around new years, all droopy and dying. No matter how hard I tried, that’s the best I could get it to look. Also, the workman ship has a lot of room for improvement, the branches are very loose and wobbly and the tree just feels like it’s going to break easily.
After committing myself to this tree for the better part of a week, I had finally had enough and called customer service to return it, only to have insult added to injury. Their website indicates that there is a $25.00 charge to return the tree. What they neglect to tell you, is that they charge you $50.00, if they ship your tree I in two boxes. (SURPRISE). I even offered to return it in person at their outlet store but they refused and made me ship it. Great way to start off the holiday.
You have been warned.

The Worst Customer Service - DO NOT BUY FROM BALSAM HILL!!!!

"OMG! I am having the same experience as Marrianne! These trees are over-priced, sparse branches make the tree look fake and after only 2 years half the trees lights do not work. BH lied MANY times to me: On Saturday, Nov 18, when we discovered the issue, we were told that a new top portion of the tree was being shipped. LIE! Then on Monday, I get an email confirming that they are shipping a complete replacement tree. LIE! Then I get an email confirmation that the items (yes 2 items) have shipped. When I called, it turns out they are shipping a new clear and a new multi-colored light strands....hmm doesn't sound like a replacement tree to me! Believe me, after spending the kind of money on this tree, I AM NOT re-stringing the lights! Then, yesterday, after being told the replacement tree was in the "back office" being reviewed, I demanded to speak to a Supervisor who told me she personally would contact the back office and someone would let me know within 24 hours what the status is. LIE! So here I am on the phone again, trying to find out what is happening with this case only to discover that they issued a new case number without my knowledge. TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE! Do NOT BUY from this company."

Love my tree!

"We've had a Norway Spruce tree from Balsam Hill since last Christmas - and everyone who comes to visit loves it! We leave it up all year round, and even have the lights on most evenings throughout the rest of the year. I would highly recommend this tree, it's a lovely dark green color and was super easy to put together. I can't wait to decorate it more for Christmas again this year!"

Beautiful products, great service

"We ordered several items for our home -some birch trees and decor. Everything is beautiful! We did have an issue with dim lights on one of our birch trees. After we emailed customer service, they responded within a couple of hours and sent me a replacement product. This was an excellent experience. The products are really gorgeous, and they add elegant holiday cheer to our home."

Cannot support their products

"Beautiful trees, but HORRIBLE customer service. And, the bulbs go out way too soon. I have been waiting for YEARS replacement bulbs. I have been checking and I am on a list to be notified when the bulbs are in stock. Have not been in stock for all of these years. Since I've had the tree I've needed hundreds of new lights each year. I was only able to get bulbs twice. The second time they sent the bulbs they sent the Green base bulbs when I have the Denali tree--all white with clear bulbs. I ordered the white based bulbs. Now, three weeks ago I was told that the bulbs were in stock. I said I wanted to order as many as possible. I was told that I would have enough bulbs to redo the entire tree. Three weeks ago. I call today to check...NOT IN STOCK. DO NOT BUY THE DENALI TREES. The company should not continue to see the tree if it cannot provide replacement bulbs.

Floral Arrangements

"I purchased Balsam Hill's english garden rose floral arrangements for my wedding. They were around the same price as real flower arrangements but they will last forever! They are so realistic and beautiful, bonus point for my guests to take and grace their homes! Loved the quality of the arrangements. I had a small issue that the tracking numbers didn't get sent to me, but customer service was helpful in getting that to me when I requested it. I will recommend this company and will buy again! "

Worst customer service ever experienced

"I ordered a Balsam Hill tree on 10/26/17. It arrived 10/31 but was the completely wrong tree. Wrong size, wrong type, wrong lights. I called and was told I would receive a shipping label to send the tree back and that the correct tree would be sent to me two-day overnight, arriving 11/3/17. What happened next involves too many phone calls and emails to go into the details here. Suffice it to say that I did not receive the shipping label for the return, did not receive the correct tree on 11/3/17 and was told many different things by the different customer service reps I spoke to during 6 or 7 calls and many emails. I was finally told on 11/3 that I had to send the tree back and give them a tracking number before they would send out the new tree. First time anyone had told me that. It took a few days for Fedex to get here for the pick up. In the meantime, I received an email telling me the correct tree had been shipped and would arrive 11/6 or 11/7. It did not. I called AGAIN today, 11/8, and was once again told it would be straightened out: that my correct tree had been shipped and they would call me back with the information on delivery date. When I did receive a call back (from yet another different customer service agent), I was told the tree I ordered was out of stock and I had been issued a refund! I was told I could check back mid-November as a shipment was coming in but they didn't know what was in the shipment. This entire experience demonstrated the complete ineptitude of the company from the start. Until the final call today I never received a completely researched, honest answer to my questions or the situation, and I had done nothing wrong. I ordered an expensive tree, got the wrong tree, and it went downhill from there. After being pleased I got a head start with my holiday planning, I now have wasted two weeks, have no Christmas tree, and have to start my search all over agin."
