First Balsam Hill Tree

"This is my first tree with Balsam Hill and the experience has been great. I ordered the new European Fir. This is the most realistic tree out there and the quality is superb. I now cannot imagine owning another Christmas tree. A few weeks later I ordered the mountain meadow garland. Again, what a beautiful product. Let me note that both shipments were here within the week. Thank you Balsam Hill!"

Do NOT buy from this seller!

"Please read before you purchase! I spoke on chat with a customer service rep and followed up to confirm and order my tree via phone call. I ordered a tree that was in stock on Thursday November 30,2017. I paid $75 for 2 day shipping. I was alerted that their shipper did not deliver on weekends and that my 2nd day would be Monday. On Monday I didn't receive the tree and spoke on chat regarding the issue. It turns out the tree has not left the warehouse. I requested a refund of my $75 2-day shipping and was refused the refund. I asked when the tree was going to be sent, and was told that the matter would be looked into over the next 3-5 business days. After it was looked into (and the phone serve and chat confirmed that the order was placed on November 30) I could expect the tree to arrive in 5-7 business days AFTER the 3-5 day delay...because they are "very busy" this time of year. (Like the rest of us are not busy...both the person on "chat" and the phone customer service, were completed stymied that I'd want a refund on my shipping charges and some sort of restitution for being promised a tree in 2 business days when it is actually going to take 2 weeks - Now I'm desperately searching for a quality tree I can purchase locally. "

Difficult to Do Business With

"This is the first year we decided to buy an artificial tree. The Balsam Hill website was enticing and the pre Thanksgiving sale offered a reasonable sale--a $799 tree for $699. It all went downhill from there--beginning with placing the order. The customer rep was very difficult to understand and did not enter the order correctly nor accurately capture our information. Finally the tree arrived and the lights did not work. 2 1/2 weeks later the issue was resolved--after going through 2 representatives and, t--seriously--getting my credit card company involved and over 3 hours of correspondence. Adding to the misery was the inability to talk with a manager--until our credit card rep got involved. I am angry at myself for ignoring all the negative reviews--they were spot on.

Lights don't work and the company does not stand behind their product. SCAM BEWARE

"We were enticed by what appear to be false reviews about Balsam Hill trees. They do look good but as we have found out they are not functional for more than a year or two and they do not stand behind their product.
We spent about $400 on a tree 3 years ago. It was fine the first year. It looked great and all the lights worked. The second year I put up the tree and one complete section of the tree did not light up. We called and they sent out another tree. This year (the third year) I put up the replacement tree and again an entire section of the tree did not light up as well as multiple strands of lights throughout the the other 3 sections. We called customer service and they said that our 3 year warranty had expired 2 weeks ago and that they were unwilling to do anything to help us out. We spoke with a manager and he said he would looked into have the company replace the tree despite the warranty being expired by 2 weeks and he would get back to us in 24 hours. 4 days later we had to call them and they refused to back their product that was a year old and had been a replacement for the original tree with the same problem. Seems like they have a product that will only last a year and they know it and are unwilling to stand by it. I have looked through many other reviews and have seen this same complaint over and over again. Not sure how anyone could work for a business that is so unethical.

Love our Saratoga Fir

"Before buying our Saratoga I read more reviews than I care to recount. We were concerned with those that were unhappy with the fullness of the tree but the positives outweighed the negatives so we decided to buy. Now that we've received it, unpacked it, built and fluffed it, and finally decorated it we're unbelievably pleased with our decision.
Takeaways:
- Ordering was simple and tree arrived in two days
- All pieces as listed were complete including thorough instructions
- Once fluffed tree is full and gorgeous
(Note: I watched several videos on assembly and especially fluffing and highly recommend doing so.)
Fluffing is critical and know it's a lengthy project if done correctly.
It is not a speed contest and if you have limited patience rethink doing it yourself.
A fair amount of OCD is helpful to attain the best results.
Clearly, those negative reviews about lack of fullness were written by folks who didn't properly fluff their trees.
- The look and feel of the tree is scarily similar to the real thing with the only missing ingredient being the smell of pine.
I've ordered a pine oil to see if we can recreate that sensation.
Balsam Hill appears to have thought of everything from a multi-use tool for changing bulbs/fuses, thorough instructions, and even (very helpful) gloves.
A hotline number is provided but I had no reason to use it. Read the instructions, watch a few help videos, and take your time.
The time you spend doing it right the first time is about the same as what I used to spend driving to the tree lot, picking the "perfect tree", loading/unloading it on top of the car, installing it into the stand, dragging it into the house, putting down floor protection, getting it to stand straight, and stringing the lights. Oh yeah, vacuuming up the fallen needles. We had maybe ten needles fall off the Saratoga through the entire fluffing process.
If you couldn't tell, I'm one happy customer and a new fan of Balsam Hill.

Poor lights

"bought tree 3 years ago and the bottom set did not work, worked with them and decided to replace the bottom section but couldn't do it until Aug when the next production run was going to happen. We had a tree for the 1st Christmas without any bottom lights
Aug can and so did the lower section and for the 2nd Christmas we had lights
Just started this year and 1 string on the middle section won't work and a sting in the upper section will not work again worked with them and the net is TOUGH LUCK your 3 year warranty starts at puchase time not at the end of the season. You can go the the Balsam store and purchase lights and replace them.
Any idea of what that will take, viewed their video and they recommend one bulb at a time using their attachment stuff.
Asked how they are wired so maybe I can figure out what is broken (there is a wire from last socket bact to the fuse lite) they can't tell me . Bought one of those llikg fix contraptions and nothing works can't even track electrical flow the when it starts or end. sensor doesn't even pick up juice at the fuse lite (but the wire back to the fuse light indicates voltage.
So much for pre wired guess I'll go send $2.00 and put in the old fashion, but reliable string of lights

"ABSOLUTELY THE WORST CUTOMER SERVICE EVER!!! AFTER OVER 4/1/2 HOURS ON THE PHONE I HAD TO CANCEL EVERYTHING BECAUSE OF SO MANY MISTAKES THEY MADE ON MY INITUAL ORDER AND RE-ORDER THAT I MADE THROUGH A SUPERVISOR. I NOW HAVE A GARAGE FULL OF OVER $4000 WORTH OF STUFF THAT THEY SHIPPED BECAUSE OF POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE. THEY ONLY HAVE 30 MINUTES TO CANCEL ORDERS EVEN IF IT'S THEIR MISTAKE AND IF IT'S NOT CANCELED IN THAT TIMEFRAME THEY SHIP AND CHARGE YOUR ACCOUNT. THEY ARE SLOW IN UNDERSTANDING YOU AND IT'S DIFFICULT UNDERSTANDING THEM BECAUSE YOU ARE DEALING WITH INDIVIDUALS OUT OF THE COUNTRY. I HAD TO CALL MY CREDIT CARD AND DISPUTE CHARGES AS WELL AS BLOCK THEM FROM CHARGING ANYTHING ELSE. WARNING... BUT THEY SEND THE REST OF YOUR ORDER ANYWAY BUT YOU HAVE NO USE FOR IT BECAUSE YOU DON'T HAVE THE TREE. YOU ALSO LOSE ANY DISCOUNT BECAUSE IT IS BASED ON HOW MUCH YOU SPEND WHICH IS THE ONLY REASON I ORDERED SO MUCH...I WANTED TO TAKE ADVANTAGE OF THE $200 DISCOUNT FOR A PURCHASE OVER $2299. HER SUPERVISOR WAS NOT AVAILABLE BECAUSE SHE SAID HE WAS ON LUNCH BREAK FOR ONE HOUR AND SHE SAID THERE WAS NO ONE TO TAKE HIS PLACE. SHE SAID SHE COULD EMAIL HIM BUT SHE COULD NOT PROMISE THAT HE WOULD GET BACK WITH ME. I'M GIVING 1 STAR ONLY BECAUSE I CAN'T GIVE 0. BAD TREE SECOND YEAR IN A ROW

"We ordered a tree in 2016. It had bad lighting and only the clear lights worked. Their solution was for us to use the tree with only colored lights through the holiday season. Then they decided to send us a new tree to replace the bad one. GUESS WHAT...new tree....same problem. This has been a terrible experience. Customer service gives you the run around and doesn't meet expectations at all. Don't buy a tree here."

Bad Tree

"We ordered a tree in November 2016 and immediately had issues. The power unit was bad and we requested a new one. It was received a week later and we then powered on the tree. This was the top of the line 6.5ft tree and had both white and colored lights with the ability to turn on or the other or both on. We were able to get the white only to work but the top section of the tree would not light up the colored strand. I called customer service and after about an hour of troubleshooting the determination was made that the top section would have to be replaced. they said that they could not create another top since they were done their production run for the year, but it would be sent in the spring. We called several times and it eventually arrived the week of thanksgiving 2017. the following weekend we put the tree together and the new top section was even worse. It would not light at all. I called customer service and went through the troubleshooting shortly"

very bad experience!!!!

"Recently purchased a tree, upon arrival, I deceided that tree was not appropriate, called balsam tree, ordered a new tree and informed them that I would be returning original purchase. Company sent, via, e-mail, return label. Fed ex picked and returned said tree, after 3 weeks of phone conversations with 3 different employees, all stating that said tree has been received, now find out that company states they never received the tree, and cannot issue a credit. I do not trust, nor would I tell anyone to trust or do business with a company like this. How is it that three different employees all say one thing, yet a fourth employee says the exact opposite? Balsam hill has my tree in their position, yet continues to deny my credit. I would not recommend this company to anyone.

Worst Nightmare - Buyer Beware!!!

" I ordered my 9 ft flip tree on 10/27/17. On 10/30/17 I received an email informing me the tree shipped and provided shipping numbers. After checking on the tracking numbers daily and noticing no tracking info 4 days later I called, and that is when it began. Dialing option two (for existing order issues) automatically dispatches you to someplace in the Philippines, which would be fine if they knew what they were doing. They offered no help and kept giving me bad information. They could not explain why there was no tracking info if the tree had been shipped, they said they would ship another tree under the same tracking no. A tree arrived on Nov 9th damaged. I reached out to the Philippines asking if they can send the top tip of the tree since the plug that plugs into the main body of the tree was cracked. They told me they would have to replace the whole tree and to donate mine to a non-profit, get a receipt & they would send me an email with further instructions. Called our church to inquire if they were interested in a tree and once they accepted I asked them if they could please wait until I get further instructions. When I didn't receive an email 3 days later I called again. The U.S. person that answered told me they had given me wrong information, they were going to send me a prepaid Fedex label to return the tree and they could not replace the tip or the tree since both were out of stock (tree was in stock online) and instead would issue a refund. I have yet to call my church out of pure embarrassment to give them the news they will not be getting a tree. When I didn't get the shipping label for the tree I called again. They told me wait another 24 hrs and call back if I didn't get anything (which was the on going theme wait another 24 hrs and call back) and that my replacement tree had shipped. (wait what ??!!), but I had tracking so I didn't get my hopes up. Today the company that delivered the damaged tree reached out to me to make arrangements for the pick up the damaged tree (so no prepaid Fedex labels once again bad info) . I called inquiring about the replacement tree again and given wrong info again. They sent me on a wild goose chase calling My Seko Shipping company with phony UPC numbers. When I called they told me they haven't worked with Balsam in 2 years. I called back and was told "lady your tree is set to ship and arrive by Thanksgiving, no we don't have tracking info yet. If you don't get it by Thanksgiving we will give you a refund, that's all we can tell you it's not like I can go to UPS and get the tree for you.". Where was the accountability?! or the attempt to rectify the horrible mistake they have made in the hopes of reinstating the customer's faith that they put behind their brand?. For a tree with a price tag of $2,000 it's completely unacceptable that this is the kind of customer service they give their customers. I don't understand how they are still in business. The caliber of service and the treatment I was given and made to feel is not one that equates with a reputable company that sells a quality product, it's more like a company that cons and swindles people out their holiday cheer and money. This truly has been a complete nightmare that has ruined my holiday and left me without a tree. A one star rating is too good for them. I shared my story in the hopes to save someone the heartache and headache.

Update : 11/22/17 After 6 days of receiving an apologetic reply from the company along with a promised of expedited shipping I decided to call in and check on the status. The first person told me the tree has shipped but they have no tracking number to provide me with, but to wait for a call from a delivery company that should happen "very soon". I decided to call 6 hours later today to ensure the information was the same and I was told that the replacement tree was denied they are so sorry I was misinformed. I just can't with this service. It definitely ruined my Thanksgiving and Christmas as I sit here and write and realizing I don't have a tree.
Update: I felt like I finally got someone on the phone the 22nd when I tried calling once more and got a hold of Wanda from leadership who promised she was going to personally handle my case "locate this tree and where it is on route" and call me back. That I was done talking to anyone else because she is going to take care of it personally and call me back on Friday the 24th. You guessed no call. On Saturday the 25th I tried to reach out 3x was told they can't transfer but they can certainly leave a message for her to call back. Today the 26th I called and I was told by Elaine today was the day they were going to resolve my case. I was on hold for 1 hour. Somewhere in between the talking and holding talking and holding somewhere it was mentioned to me that they have to confirm receipt of the damage tree (I am not sure if I am more appalled or offended) and they are looking through my case to find a resolution. It's beginning to sound more and more like I have been waiting for a tree that was never shipped, perhaps I was in a bit of denial or insanely optimistic that this company would redeem itself. After being placed on hold for an hour , I was finally told that my case would have to be handled by their "leadership" dept and they would have to call me back I finally reached my breaking point. I am putting myself out of my own misery and get my refund and try to salvage what's left of this ruined holiday. Balsam Hill you should either be sued or be out of business for the unacceptable way your run your company and treat your customers.

Shipping scam!

"Searched for a wreath which I purchased on a Monday. Balsam acknowledged the order, and sent me an additional email that it had shipped at 12 am Tuesday. I paid for 2 day shipping, as we had an event we wanted the wreath for.

The items was to be delivered Thursday. On Thursday, end of day, I received a note that the shipper just picked it up, and I would get it the following Monday. I would NEVER have bought the wreath if I had known this.

I emailed......got an apology. I called and got no where, with the call center people laughing and partying in the background. I asked that they ship another wreath next day, so I could get it in time for the event. The call center person never called me back. I called again......no accommodation.

So I paid extra to get the item timely, and Balsam Hill dropped the ball, with no interest in accommodating my need.

I have bought from them in the past, but never again. Very poor execution, even worse service, and not willing to admit mistakes and accommodate their customers.

Very disappointing!

Warning!!! DO NOT BUY A PRELIT TREE FROM BALSAM!!!

"Buying this Balsam tree has been the worst Christmas experience of my life! The tree lights do not work. Balsam requires you to troubleshoot the lights which we have spent 5 hours of our time replacing bulbs and fuses and master bulbs to no avail. The tree was under warranty and we did receive a replacement in 2015 however, the replacement tree has strands of lights not working AGAIN. Big surprise! And now Balsam will not cover anything further. When you contact customer service all they do is send you video tutorials on troubleshooting lights. And like I said we have spent hours upon hours trying to fix the problem but not one of their tutorials did anything to make the lights work. We spent $600 on this Christmas tree and it has been nothing but frustrating. Prior to that we owned an artificial tree from Sears that lasted us 10 years without one problem. Again, DO NOT BUY ANYTHING FROM THIS COMPANY!"

Not Worth the Money

"Seems I have a similar experience to many others. In September I contacted customer service to confirm the light function on an LED multi-light tree, that it would change colors. I was told it would, and despited my hesitation since there were other companies selling what appeared to be similar products for much less, spent the extra money. Big mistake. I took the tree out of storage last weekend and assembled it. Instead of multi-function lights they only turn on and off. Shame on me for believing the person on the phone and not the web description. Shame on them for providing a tree with no better appearance than some in big box stores with the same type foliage for hundreds less. Even with spreading and adjusting branches, it still looks like most artificial trees....artificial with gaps and same colored lights bunched together as if no one was careful in how they set up the tree in the factory. Bottom line I blew a lot of money on a tree I could have purchased elsewhere for half what I paid. I contacted customer service to submit a complaint, and while courteous, they really made no effort to remedy or ameliorate the problem. Won't be doing business with them again."
