" I purchased a Garmin GPS today, December 20th but was not offered an extended warranty - today, December 20th - I called the store and only got useless menu options frustrating me and putting me off from every returning to a Best Buy - why should I?
It was insulting when trying to telephone the store, getting only an unresponsive menu selection and a complete inability to speak to a human being. I called the ‘888' number to complain and try to find a human to reply to my complaints which took multiple menu options, hold options and call-back from a representative. It is dehumanizing to have my time trivialized and spent like it matters little.
The call-back option person was in the Philippines; useless and uninformed. She told me to call the store if I had a problem - my problem was in calling the store, the menu options were useless. I asked to be transferred to the USA. She refused and said there is no option to transfer my call. I asked to be transferred to Minnesota; she refused saying there are no options to transfer to Minnesota and to call the store. It was a useless call, a waste of my time and failed of its essential purpose:
I. To talk with a human being about my dissatisfaction with a useless menu system;
II. To complain about how customers are treated including routing my complaint to the Philippines to someone uninformed and unintelligible;
III. To find out if I have an extended warranty option of what I just bought.
I wasted over an hour on this and your customer disservice and [Best Buy’s] astonishingly self-defeating system called customer service. I will shop elsewhere and only at Best Buy as a last resort. I was going to get a DVD player as a gift for someone which I will now buy [& everything I need] elsewhere.
What a monumentally stupid system Best Buy has adopted. It is a target-rich consumer environment out here, lots of online sellers and competitors who value customers. I have enclosed a reprint attributable to Sam Walton - your customer service personnel [including those in the Philippines] should read it and quite possibly adopt the philosophy.
I have sent this to your Best Buy, Minnesota as a courtesy as well.

"I don't understand all the hate I love best buy orders always ship on time and promptly"
"When I got to Best Buy's page at ResellerRatings.com and saw the 2.4 rating I was not surprised. Nor am I surprised to see that "Best Buy is not a merchant member!" because they obviously don't really care about customer service.
I need to buy two identical laptops. Found a model on their website that had the features we want, put two in the cart and started the check-out process to make sure they were available. Turns out that they can be purchased only from a store. A pop-up informed me that no store within 250 miles had any. This, despite the note on the page saying "May be available in stores."
Surprised by this, I called their main number. Told the automated system I was calling about purchasing laptops and it informed me that Best Buy is "unable to assist with purchasing or availability of computer products over the phone" and referred me to the stores.
Called a local store, gave them the SKU and they confirmed that none were available. In fact NONE were available ANYWHERE in their system. And she proceeded to defend they website and implied that I was being difficult because I questioned it.
In short, Best Buy's website lists products that are not available but doesn't try to sell you anything else. Meaning they do the first part of 'Bait-and-Switch' but are too lazy/stupid to do the second part.
Based on my experience, I suggest you spend your time and money elsewhere."
"Samsung UN55KU7000FXZA LED Smart 4K Ultra HD TV with HDR. I love this tv. The picture is so clear and beautiful. It looks so realistic! Our only complaint is that every time we want to watch something using our wireless internet connection we have to sign out and sign back in to get it to connect. So a little annoying but overall very happy with our purchase."
"For years I've occasionally bought from Best Buy at their stores. It's always been a good experience. When I purchased a wrong item for my computer, it was a quick no-hassle return. They also had the best sale price on a monitor I recently wanted, and plenty were in stock at the store. My online transaction was easy, shipping was fast, the item was of great quality and exactly as advertised, the price was a bargain, package was securely packed, and the invoice was clear. There's a handy Merchandise Return Form at the bottom of the invoice, or the option of a free return in their stores."
"I went into Best Buy to purchase a TV. I had done research previously and knew exactly which one I wanted. I've been burned before by experiences at Best Buy but not this time. I found someone to help me carry it out, they did not try to push me to a more expensive TV or in any question my purchase decision (in the past this has happened). He carried it out, put it in my car and away I went (after paying of course lol). I have been very satisfied with my purchase!"
"75" samsung, Bestbuy sold me 2015 model thanksgiving 2016. Would not connect to internet, samsung decided it would have to be repaired. Screen was cracked during packing or unpacking. Bestbuy wouldn't give store credit, exchange it or anything else! Do yourself a favor buy from costco much better warranty."
"Bought dishwasher and had it delivered and installed Dec 1. Sales person put down wrong model number on order. My fault, failed to notice on paperwork. After install, noticed difference in models from what we thought we bought. Talked to sales person, who said we could return it at my expense, but not exchange because no longer on sale. Agreed to keep this one. Now, on Dec 19, after 4 uses, dishwasher would not start. Reset with wall switch several times, finally got it started. Completed cycle, but left 2" of dirty water in tub. Returned to store, spoke to different sales person who said nothing, just handed me a phone number. When asked, he said it was for warranty work, that store could do nothing. After some discussion, he said I could return it, but must pay a fee to clean the dishwasher as it is now used. I will not recommend Best Buy. On the contrary, I will tell all my fiends of this experience. "
"Dec 1, 2016 I bought a new iPad, but after 2 days I have problems with iOS. I'm going to the store and they exchange my iPad for the new one, without questions. Now everything is working perfect. I love Best Buy for great customer service."
"Hi
I bought an item in best buy store Edmonton.
After 2 months it wasn't walking.
After 2 months of research my receipt I brought it in the store women told me no warranty you have to call the manufacturer.
Don't buy in this store.
Normally warranty is 1 year. I didn't buy from manufacturer to deal with him!"
"I like to buy things on the specials. Thank you, Best Buy, for good prices!"
"I went to the store because I needed an SD card for my Canon T5i Camera because I was about to cover an event. There were no employees around to help me out find them. An old lady asked me if I worked at the store and when I replied that I didn't she said: "They shine by their absence." The employees that I did find were conversing in the middle of the store and told me they were on break.
When I went to the cashier to pay for the card, there was just one of them. She had to solve some issue for the one client she was attending. This event took her 10 minutes on the clock. Then she took a whopping 18 minutes to scan every product, and charge him. I was the client next in line, but after me, five more people arrived and were noticeably upset.
There were three management employees in front of the cashier's area joking, laughing and just casually hanging out. They looked at me several times and did nothing. I've worked in the hospitality industry for close to 18 years, and this is not good customer service.
Needless to say, I got late for the event and won't be buying from Best Buy anymore and will surely tell people about my experience. "
"I had to return a pc monitor that I bought online at bestbuy.ca and the overall experience went well. I had not visited any Best Buy in a while and was surprised by how low they were in staff! The economy may be in relation as I think its becoming this way everywhere. They were hard to reach by phone but that was understandable due to the long line for Black Friday/Cyber Monday returns."
"We should be able to select a negative star because that is how horrible Best Buy service is. Bought a tv bundle and Best Buy gave a four hour delivery window. They never came. Called four hours past the scheduled time and were mad that I was no longer home. Have called twice to reschedule was soon hold for over thirty minutes. First time they disconnected, second time stated to leave a message and they would callback in 24 hours no call received. Called again got transferred multiple times on hold another 40 minutes. Pathetic service will cancel order and never shop there again."
"Went in to purchase 2 Sonos Speakers. I asked for help they where to busy. I waited a half hour and had to figure out for myself which speakers to purchase. Had I not been tired I would have not purchased anything at this store. Wanted to speak to the manager and one associate said I could go to customer service. I told him about the poor service I received and got a gratis "Sorry about this".
If I could give this store a negative rating I would. My next Audio purchase I will just go and shop at Costco. If I said they where horrible I would be giving them a compliment."
