"Order was placed on Sunday, 5/27, in the hope I would have my bag for a ride the following weekend. Monday, 5/28 was Memorial Day, so I did not expect my order to ship until the following day. On Wed., 5/30, I received a ship notice. USPS estimated delivery on Fri., 6/1.
On Fri., 6/1, I received a notice from the Post Office that I would need to pick up my package at the counter, as there was postage due! My Post Office does not offer Saturday counter service. I was unable to attempt pickup at the Will Call window, as I was on my bike ride during Will Call hours (the ride I wanted the bag for). So, the earliest I can attempt pickup is now Monday, due to the slow shipping and insufficient postage.
I have NEVER had to pay postage due for a package ordered online, or via mail or phone. Would not order again from this vendor."

Good customer service and high quality equipment . As previous reviewers have mentioned they probably could improve their administration and website ordering regarding the out of stock confusion but they are also happy to cancel parts of your order should you require the item quickly. Also are quick to rectify mistakes that are their responsibility. Just telephone them or email. Both of which I received prompt replies from. They also are happy to give you advice on the phone regarding the type of setup or problem you are trying to solve.

"I have recently purchased the Ortlieb Vario Commuter Backpack Pannier from the BikeBagShop as a gift for my friend. The price was the best I could find - $30 less then most other places and we got a free kick stand in addition. Both the shopping experience and the quality of the product were exceptional. The description of the product on the web site could be a little better: I could not understand if the mounting brackets came with the pannier or had to be purchased separately. I contacted the customer service with this question over the email and received an immediate and comprehensive response, that the bracket was included. Then I was not sure if it would fit the bike rack and again received very good support.
My friend loves his new pannier, that fits his big laptop, his rain gear and a book. He also loves the strap for the helmet.

recieved an email confirming my order. a few days later recieved an email telling me the order was shipped-minus the bar bag which was out of stock for a few weeks. Now why didnt they let me know that either BEFORE i ordered it or IN THE CONFIRMATION email?
that map case and extension kit will do me no good w/o the bag and I need it for a bike trip in 1 1/2 weeks! not happy!!"
"This e-seller has multiple shadow websites which list low sale prices - when you click for more info, you end up on their main website listing different prices. I tried to purchase an item listed for one price but when I went to purchase the actual sales price was 15% higher. I directly contacted them about the business practice but found them non-responsive. I would not do business with them - I've just purchased over $400 worth of products which they sell - I was able to find the same products elsewhere on-line for less money and without the bait & switch mentality."

""Order ships in 1-2 weeks," read the order status. At BSH, this actually means "Out of stock; not sure when we'll be back in stock. But we won't stop you from ordering!" If you don't know this is code and unwittingly proceed with your order, you might miss the unique "asterisk" technique that BSH uses to alert you to this. Maybe you are still thinking it ships within a week, have other things (work, children) clamoring for your attention, and don't take the time to follow the asterisks to the bottom of the page, since every online merchant you've used in the last ten years uses the actual words "out of stock" on the first page when that is the case. And then, once you've ordered and are finally seeing the words "out of stock" appear on your order form, unable to get anyone on the phone and now unsure of what to do (is it 1 week? Or is it out of stock? which to believe?), still wanting to give them your business since they don't appear to be a mega-conglomerant, you might just email your question to them. Unfortunately, you might then get the rudest reply you've ever gotten from an online merchant. Wrote Robin, "It plainly states that it's out of stock...I fail to see how this is confusing."
When you inevitably call to cancel your order, Robin might agree to do it...later that day.
That was my experience with BSH - my first and my last, I'm pretty sure - too bad since I'm a daily bike commuter who likes to shop for my daily bike-commuting family. "
