"Looks like boat trader was created for scammers to help them find people to scam. Listed my boat for 6 weeks got 100 scammers emails and not a single real buyer. Waist of time and money."
"Listed my boat 1 day ago and all I’m receiving is 40 spam phone calls a day and constant scam emails. Boat Trader is a total ripoff "
"You list your boat in good faith with this company and they quickly take your money and offer ZERO protection from FRAUD. Spoke to them on a few occasions whereas EVERY lead 'generated from them' is FRAUD. They have zero security in place to stop this. They do not check IP Addresses. They do not VERIFY buyers AT ALL... You give up your information (email, name and phone number) and the same 'routine' happens and their response is: "yeah, we cannot control the amount of fraudulent buyers who are just scamming our site" (QUOTED) Shut this site down, it's a waste of money and time! "
"THESE GUYS ARE HORRIBLE TO WORK WITH! OUR AD WASNT SHOWING UP HALF THE TIME, AND THEN NOT AT ALL! WHEN I CALLED IN TO CUSTOMER SERVICE THE KID THAT ANSWERED TGE CALL LITERALLY YELLED AT ME ON THE PHONE! I WAS SHOCKED. I SAID DID YOU JUST YELL AT ME ON THE PHONE? I SAID JUST GO AHEAD AND DEKETE MY AD AND ISSUE ME A REFUND. I ASKED FOR HOS NAME AND HE SAID ILL JUST DELETE YOUR AD AND ISSUE REFUND AND HUNG UP. I WAS NICE TO HIM AND NEVER RAISED MY VOICE! I WAS SHOCKED AT HOW HORRIBLE THE LISTING WORKED, AND HOW HE ACTED ON TGE PHONE!"
"One of his boats cost me twice as much as what it should have and when I mentioned this to him he did nothing to resolve the situation in fact smiled about it was very upsetting felt he was extremely rude definitely not the person I would recommend doing business with"
"Tried a few times to sell personal boat. Only receiver scam responses, no legitimate inquiries. And boats I have inquired about are not at locations listed. When asked to exchange funds through banks, the seller suddenly disappears from communication. Puzzled I am."
"Looking for a boat since November. Called about 50 plus listing and everyone say boat sold months prior and they can’t get it off BT. Sad when the customer using the service complain it’s scamming. It’s not like the old day when it was a magazine. If a boat is sold it should come off or get marked sold immediately. Boat Trader is a scam. "
"Boattrader.com does not remove scam listings even after they are told of a scam
also many boats have been sold months ago and still listed
They should always show the list date on every vessel pictured!!!!
And really care about stopping scams.... Do something about it."
"I’m on this site because I’m looking for a boat!
I do Not want to spend energy asking for a price that should be posted!! Come on...,"
"Everything worked fine during the sign-up, posting and paying process. I got a basic listing since it just a waverunner I'm selling and there are not many options to display. Nice looking website and app but also seems to be full of dealer ads which is fine.
I didn't get any calls from real buyers. I'm trying to sell a very good machine at a low price. I know there is demand, but my ad in Boat Trader did not get any action. That is just my one time experience selling a jetski."
"Warning : Do not trust BT adds , boat trader does not screen for fraudulent sellers . They are more interested in their sales of unvaried adds . "
"Just be careful, most listing are made up by scammers and are not real. "
"I paid for a 6 week ad in an attempt to sell my boat. The ad was supposed to run until October 2nd, 2019. On September 2nd I got an email saying my ad had expired. literally a month early. I sent them an email and never got a response. 3 days later I called them to just get a refund and they said " We cant issue refund because you didnt cancel within 24hrs." So, I opened a claim with PayPal. About 6 days later I was informed that PayPal denied my claim because "the item purchased was similar to the sellers description". This is 100% a scam and once you have paid, there will be no getting a refund in any way, shape or fashion. Regardless of circumstance. DO NOT USE."
"I purchased an ad and posted an advertisement. After doing so I tried to log on and received a password error. I reset my password ~ four times. I called the help number and no one got back with me. I also email the customer service department. later I received an email notification saying my ad had been posted. What got posted is a combination of previous posts and today's and not the final. For some reason it lists two prices and I cannot correct because the password reset is not working."
"I listed my boat for sale there. The only e-mails I got where from scammers. STAY away! You will end with less money in your pocket and new scammers."
