"I advertised a boat that I ended up selling locally a year ago. My ad with boat trader was set up as an auto Renewal, according to their small print and legal disclosure.when I opened their e mail, they had already charged the card, and because I was two days after their email;verses one day, they said sorry, no reversal. They could not have be more condescending. They are a huge part of the boating world, and they took my money, with auto renewal. Beware. They are no different than the internet scams."
"Do not utilize Boattrader.com Not only will you find them unethical in attempting to renew and auto charge you despite all your efforts to cancel the service, you will also find robo calls from false "prospects" about buying your boat to coerce you into renewing payment. Very unethical operation. Merits a States Attorney General investigation!"
"Been fighting with my credit card over this company's tactics. they renewed a listing that resulted in 1 inquiry in two months with no permission. The boat sold by craiglist within a month . They lied to my credit card company and told them I "auto renewed" and they sent e mails notifying me. After speaking to the lady in charge, I realize this company is unethical and completely a scam. I have been in the marine industry for over 30 years and never encountered people like this.

"I put in the parameters for the boat I was looking for which should have generated several different models but either got a message saying that my search returned 0 results or when I changed the price to between 0-10000 all I got when searching from low to high were a bunch of new boats that say call for price. Terrible site for the buyer, I can only imagine what the seller is going through and they have to pay for an ad. I'll stick to Craigslist."
"Placed an ad online for 12 wks ($109) for my 202 American Tug. However, multiple problems with the website make it useless.
1) The ad opened the but the pictures did not show (even though the website had uploaded them and thumbnails appeared in the upload screen, and preview).
2) Went to edit the ad to upload smaller pictures, but on my boat listing page, my ad did not show up so I could not edit it! Even though I did activate the account through the email sent.
3) Searched and found the ad on Boattrader (without pictures) and clicked on the respond button (several times). I eventually received the emails days later. I checked my account email was correct, no spam filters set and I got a response (as sender) saying your mail has been sent to the seller.
5) when you search for a boat a donate banner appears multiple times obscuring the screen (adds a new one every time you click). A very poor design.
4) Sent a tech support message and they got back to me within 24hrs, confirming my information was correct on the system. The tech sent me a message from the ad, but again, it arrived over a day later. In the end I asked for a refund and they supplied it in full as it was less than 24hrs.
Sort of works, but very poor value for money and too many bugs and slow servers to make it useful to buyers or sellers.
I was using Chrome and Safari with ad blockers off, and also from my iPhone so it was a fair test of the website. Basically, the site seems to be dysfunctional with multiple technical flaws. Maybe it works better on windows? If they want to resolve the problems and give me a months free advertising, I'll be happy to test again, and if the problems are fixed update this review.

"Every time I try and click on the advanced search the page changes to "Congratulations, you are today's lucky visitor" where it tries to get me to apply for various credit cards. You cannot get out of it except to hit the back button where you are ultimately taken there again....because I am soooo "lucky." Horrible site. Horrible company. I will NEVER post my boat on here and I will NEVER look here again. Go to Yacht World."
"I'm a person who rarely provides reviews on a buisiness. However, I'm making an exception here. The experience has been bad from the start. I used boat trader last year and had a different experience so I'm not sure what changed. It took a couple of weeks for me to get my boat posted correctly because their system would allow me to upload photos. Then I later discovered that they had put it under the wrong category. The worst part is that I wasn't getting any calls so I looked again to see if my post was correct. This time I searched as a potential buyer by not logging into my account. The boat was so buried that the only way I could find it was to type in the exact year, make, and model. During the entire three moths of advertising, I NEVER received one email, message or call from a potential buyer. I used onlyinboards.com during the past month and had over a dozen inquires and my boat is sold. Do NOT waste your money on this site."
""Contact seller" feature never worked the entire time i had the service. They asked me to renew and told them no because they couldn't get their site to work. They said "ok... contact us if u change your mind". Wow... no thought to discount my charges or anything. Not a company that cares about customer service! "
"I've used many different websites and Boat Trader is one of the best! I was looking for a new Pontoon boat and found a page that listed a few different makes and some information on this boat type. I found a wide selection of pontoon boats and made some enquiries with the sellers who were fast to respond! Great site with a wide selection on offer. You don't buy direct with Boat Trader, but the sellers you get in contact with all seem good."
"This has to be the worst run site I have ever worked with. When I received my confirmation for the listing it did not say there would be a delay in seeing the post online. I went to look for it and was not there so I called customer service. I was told there is a delay to review the ad prior to posting. The customer service rep reviewed my ad and I asked her to change the price. When the ad did appear the price was not changed so I called back again. I was finally able to see the ad online but had no access to edit the listing so I called back again. I was told that it would take 20 minutes and I would be able to edit the ad and see my dashboard to track the listing activity. This morning I did have access to edit the site but could not find the dashboard so I called customer service again and was told that only they have access to the dashboard and I would have to call every couple of days and they email the report to me.
This company must really enjoy paying extra customer service people for the extra call volume that a properly designed site generates. The customer service reps need to be retrained on the product they are supporting and someone that understands the user experience needs to redesign the process of listing your ad. I hope the boat sells because I do not want to every have to deal with this company again!

"I spent 20 minutes talking to 2 employees who couldn't wrap their heads around the fact that the Yamaha SX240 and Yamaha SX240 HO are the SAME boat and by having two listings they reduce the number of people who find my ad. I even pointed out that under SX240 all the boats say High Output in the pictures. They don't care about facts, they just repeat the same talking points. Look at the pictures, the boats ARE THE SAME. Put them under the same listing so people can find them. That is the purpose of your website. "
"Horrendous service! You enter an ad and of course they charge your credit card. Then they don't place the ad and call you to verify the ad. If they do not get you quick enough they cancel the ad and you have to apply for a refund. "
"So I placed my boat for sale only to have ALL the photos disappear a couple of days lator and lost all images for possible potiental buyers for 4 days. Called customer service on monday and was told they have a SMALL glitch and photos will be up by days end. Sorry not good enough for me, With a limited window of sale in a seasonal state they offered no compromise for a service which they where paid to provide. Cancelled my add and asked for a full refund and they had the nerve to charge me for the only three days that the add appeared. Boat trader what happens when you have another SMALL glitch at the customers expense. SORRY boattrader is not for me there are PLENTY of other sites in the top search engines who would love my business and don't have GLITCHES!!!!!!!!!!"
