Should be charged with theift by taking

"Booking.com allows anyone to list a room for rent on their site.
It doesn't matter what the website or app promised they immediately forward tour credit card information to the property.
In my case, I booked a room in early December for the month of May to attend Rockfest. Over half the total had already been deducted from my account by April 2022.
On the 8th, I received an email from the property, Daytona Beach Rental location is Pennsylvania, that my unit had been sold.
I was instructed to request a cancelation of the room and was verbally promised another booking. A text confirmed this as well from the peoperty.
Well that never happened. However, due to the fact the property approved my cancelation they are responsible for a full refund.
I will never use booking.com again, unbelievable and again this is definitely theift by taking.
Totally not hold my breath for them but am prepared to turn this over to the credit card company as fraud, let them deal with it, Im getting my money back.

Complaint against Booking.com scam

"Scammer hotel accommodations site, Booking.com has lost a long time customer – myself Furkat Kasimov. I’m writing this complaint to let other knows of the scam I recently dealt with due to their incompetence, lack of information made available to their service representatives, and scammer ways.

After careful planning, I booked a hotel with Booking.com for a nearly 30 night stay beginning March 1. A day later, I get an email from them with information about my reservation. Great, right? Not exactly. When I clicked on the link in the booking confirmation email, I learned that my reservation was canceled. Confused, I called Booking.com to find out what happened and why I was not given some kind of warning either by SMS or email, initially thinking perhaps the hotel was overbooked or this was a computer error. Their phone response? “Booking.com’s internal team made a decision based on my data to cancel this reservation” and then they did not give any further details. When I asked to speak to a manager I was REFUSED.

For months I had been subscribed to Booking.com’s email newsletters, which often clogged up my inbox box with spam. But, those spammers knew that all those emails would leave their company top of mind. Now don’t get me wrong – I understand that flights get canceled and things don’t always go as planned but in my 10+ years of traveling, I have not ever once heard of a hotel getting canceled. I feel like their whole business model is just a big scam to get you to give them your personal information and take your money because they would not refund what I paid when THEY CANCELED THE HOTEL! I tried to dispute the charge but because it was “not refundable” even if canceled, I did not have any luck. But, they canceled it. As far as I always knew, that refund policy applies if the customer cancels.

If Booking.com’s reps would have just explained what happened, refunded me my money or issued me a credit so I could rebook in advance, I would not be writing this complaint. In addition, their communication was awful and I feel like they should have sent me a warning via email, SMS, or text informing me about the cancelation. The reason I feel like this is a big scam is because they charged my credit card then a day later canceled my reservation without any reason or explanation. Good thing I clicked on the link in the booking confirmation email in time – I learned about this there days before I was supposed to leave and would have ended up in an unfamiliar city possibly without any place to stay as most other local hotels were already sold out. What if I was traveling with children? Busy parents don’t always have time to investigate emails especially when they look like normal confirmation emails. It would have been a nightmare to get off a long flight only to find out I had no place to stay.

I hope my complaint helps make others aware that this can happen to them too and that Booking.com needs to better train their staff. “I don’t have that information” is not acceptable, especially when someone is spending thousands of dollars for something and essentially, re-arranged their life to make a trip happen. Booking.com gone to dogs

"I write this review to share my recent experience with booking.com. I have been a booking.com customer for over 7 years now but it appears that loyalty doesn’t mean anything to the Mandarins at the booking.com. As will be seen below, matter was escalated to booking.com CEO and then to her boss Mr. Glenn Fogel of Booking Holdings, with nary a difference. Here’s the detailed story.

I stayed at a property in Trinidad-Tobago and had bad experience there including duplicitous pricing by property on booking.com [and booking.com allowing it], property not picking me up from the ferry terminal, and when I left a truthful review, property left counter-accusation and included my full name on the response. Booking.com allowed that too. Thus, booking.com failed on truth in advertising (letting same property list the same place with same facilities at different prices), a malicious review, and violated my privacy for over a week by letting my name be in full view out there.

I complained to booking.com and after several back and forth, getting different answers at different times, booking.com finally agreed to refund the price difference + cost of the taxi from ferry terminal to property (total $14.46). I asked that booking.com should refund the entire booking and chalk it down to customer service as learning experience – a very small price to pay for violating the privacy. At that point, after much internal discussions, booking.com priced violation of privacy for a week at $ 13.54 and offered a total of $28!

I haven't taken any refund and instead chose to leave this review so as to forewarn other people that if you end up in an issue, don’t expect much help from booking.com – you will just be treated like a few dollars and cents. Individual customers come and go but properties are forever.

Perhaps Ms. Tan doesn’t fly, otherwise she would have heard airlines announcing “We know you have a choice and we thank you for selecting us”. Booking.com doesn’t need any more business – they are content with what they have and ready to lose some too.

I will NOT be using booking.com for a month as punishment and instead use hotels.com or hostelworld.com or priceline.com and, most importantly, I will also be filing complaints with EU and US privacy regulators.

"I am a regular customer of booking.com and I've used it for many years now. I like that it is easy to use the website and the app, my bookings are neatly listed and I can check them anytime. There always is a detailed information written on the confirmation document and I have never had any problems with my reservations. Their service is great. "

Rip Off Site

"Site is confusing and filled with come-on ads about 3 people currently searching for the same hotel as you, and you must book now. It is a rip off and not worth using. Beware of non-refundable purchases - make sure you have exactly what you order. Use this site only as a last resort."

Disappointed

"I am a business traveller and often book last minute. I selected the Swan at Forton BnB because of its good ratings and low price. There was an option to provide time of arrival which I did, provided credit card details and received a booking confirmation email. Although my time of arrival was clearly stated on my booking as "between 00:00 and 01:00 hours the next day", the BnB was shut when I arrived at 00:15.
There was no emergency contact number. The mainline provided was constantly directing me to a voicemail. I left a voice message and nobody bothered to get in touch with me to apologise for the problem. I was knocking on all doors but no response. I found myself in the middle of nowhere looking for another place to stay at 1am in the morning which I eventually found at 2am at 2x the price I could have booked normally. It was a horrifying experience. I reported the issue to booking.com who simply said that the hotel was closed at that time as per their terms and conditions. The fact I had selected an arrival time on my booking page, outside the normal working ours does not oblige the hotel to offer me the room neither the booking.com website to compensate me. Although I have been a loyal customer to booking.com, I decided never to trust them again. Unacceptable and unprofessional behaviour.

BE AWARE INSECURE SITE

"My account has been hacked and in NO WAY from a saved password or from any of my devices. Their database is not safe. I have notified Booking .com about the issue, was no reply for my emails and when contacted on phone I was advised to call the Police as they do not take responsibility. Unauthorized bookings were made from my account and I do receive notifications from booking.com intended for third accounts. It's a mess. DO NOT SAVE YOUR CARD DETAILS ON THE SITE."

Booking.com Fake Bookings! Fake Reviews!

"I made two booking reservations at the same hotel called 'Hotel Terminal' in Milan near the central station for a weekend and the following weekend.
The first weekend I stayed there was not the best experience, as it was pretty bad! It did not compare anything at all to what was on booking.com, therefore I gave them a bad review.
Unfortunately, we could not change our reservation for the following weekend as it would have cost me quite a lot to do so, so I had to come back to the same hotel.
Once I arrived at 3PM hotel, they requested full pay of my stay and they made me aware, in a hostile manner, that they had received my feedback for my previous stay. At 5PM that same day I receive an email from booking.com that my reservation was canceled, although I was already staying at the hotel and I had already paid in full.
I called booking.com to understand why that had happened and they said that they received a cancellation update from the hotel. I told them that was not true and that I could provide them with a copy of my receipt to prove otherwise. They said that it will be fine and as soon as they get my receipt they will reinstate my booking on the website, which in turn will allow me to leave feedback on my second stay.
A week later nothing happened, so I call booking.com back and ask them why my reservation is yet not showing on the system and they then informed me that there was nothing they can do about it.
I was really upset that they had cheated me on the right to give my own feedback, as booking.com is always promoting "real hotel, real guest". That is a lie! I was a real guest and yet I was not allowed to share my experience because it was not what they wanted.

never again

"I was going to participate in a conference in May, 12 and I made the hotel reservation using booking.com March, 18. May,1 (after 1.5 months) I was informed that the reservation would be cancelled and booking.com cancelled it May,3 (9 days before my trip!). They offered me the compensation ca. 100USD, but to book the hotel in the same district and the same standard I have to pay now ca. 400USD more. I have to add that I used to make reservation by booking.com many times and my status is a quite high in this service, but booking.com disdains its valuable clients and it said “it is not our problem”. I encourage you not to use this service!!!"
