"I've rented from BorrowLenses.com twice, both times getting the Canon EF 400mm f/5.6 L USM lens. First time I rented the lens and service was excellent. Second time the lens was unfortunately soft - all images from this lens were just not as sharp as I had expected.
Comparing images from this 400mm f/5.6 lens to those from a combination of my Canon EF 2x II extender and Canon EF 70-200mm f/2.8 L USM lens, (all images at f/8 and same ISO and shutter speed), the 400mm f/5.6 lens gave images that were at best comparable to the combination of 70-200 and 2x extender. I know that this isn't how it should be (and wasn't when I first rented this lens several months earlier) - the 400mm f/5.6 lens should produce significantly sharper images. It appears I just got a bad lens. I wouldn't avoid renting from BorrowLenses.com again, (they are conveniently located for me), but I will certainly check the image quality immediately and not wait until I get home from my vacation.

"I've been looking at getting a new camera for some time but had no way to get my hands on one to test it. The local stores didn't carry the Nikon D7000 and I didn't want to drop that much money without being able to 'play' with the camera to see if I liked it. I knew you could rent lenses but I didn't know about bodies to go with them...along comes BorrowLenses.com. They had the body that I wanted to rent and you can choose the incrememnt of time you'd like to keep it for. THe ordering process was simple; I borrowed the D7000 and a 15-70mm F2.8 lens and selected the date I wanted them to arrive. You do have to be there to sign for the order so they know you got it. They offer insurance as well, in case something should happen to the equipment (which I ordered) and it was all very painless. The package arrived the day I wanted and everything worked beautifully. I used it for a week, packed it back up in the box it came in, and dropped it at FedEx for return shipping. They send you an email when they get it back to let you know your order is complete.
The camera came precharged so I could get right to shooting. No manual was included (I knew that when I ordered) but it is easily downloadable from the web. Everything worked perfectly and the glass was clear. I would definitely recommend using them to test out equipment before you buy!"
