"Bait and switch. Had a great price advertised on he internet. Turned out to be around $1000 more including their overprice shipping rate. When I asked about the shipping price the salesman stated, "We gotta make money somewhere!" That says it all for me. Not going to beat a dead horse. Read the other reviews."
"Broadway photo is a horrible website to order from. They are NOT upfront with their customers. I ordered a digital camera, only to receive an email to confirm my order. I called to confirm and they informed me that they only provide a 20 minute battery and they can sell me a 2 or 4 hour battery at a "discounted" rate. This was NOT stated on their website. I didn't appreciate the sneaky service and cancelled my order, only to receive an attitude from the service representative. I would rather pay $50 more and know exactly what I am getting and good service. PLEASE DON'T BUY FROM THIS COMPANY!!!"
"Wow, I can't believe how many people have the same exact (horrible) experience as I have with this company.
They also go by the name Millennium Camera.
I wish I had this site before I purchased my projector...I focused too much on which projector to purchase and did virtually none on who I was going to buy from."
"Typical bait and switch. Order camera, confirm three (3) times that it is in stock, refuse all the extras and receive an e-mail that it is NOT in stock. BUYER BEWARE."
"Professional scam artists. Will never do business with again!"
"DO NOT BUY ANYTHING FROM THESE PEOPLE THEYARE THEIVES AND CAN NOT BE TRUSTED. ALL PRODUCTS ARE USED AND NOT FACTORY FRESH. SOME GUY CALLED ME STUPIED JEW FOR ASKING FOR JUST THE CAMERA BODY."
"Worst shopping experience of my life. when I gave them a chance to right the worngs they were abusive, dehumanizing and without thought. I am amazed they can be in business."
"DO NOT BUY FROM THIS COMPANY (prestige camera). The same thing happened to me as happened to Sunnie 408 (see below)
"got an email from them this morning to call to verify more information. The guy proceeded to tell me the battery was only a 20 minute battery, that I needed a high speed memory card etc." It's totally bogus...no camera company makes a battery that lasts only 20min. I purchased a $292 camera and after getting off the phone with the guy it was up to over $500!!!! He wouldn't let me say no. So, I called back to cancel and they transferred me to about 8 different people. When I finally got a guy who could cancel it he was REALLY MEAN to me...practically yelling at me. I told him I'd seen bad reviews on here and he got mad and said it was another company posting them and they were in the process of suing...BS!!! He finally said "Fine it's a free county" in response to my wanting to cancel and shop around more and hung up on me. I'm not sure if I'll be charged or not...I REALLY hope I don't end up having to dispute the charge with these guys...they were already big enough jerks just about cancelling!"
"Horrible, BAD Reseller!!! Never buy from them. The price announced in the site does not mach with the real AND FINAL PRICE. They will offer you a lot of other accessories and if you insist in not buy them, they will come with the history that the camera that you are buying is in JAPANESE and there is no English menu. To get one “USA” camera you have to pay more, bringing the price over them the normal and trusted shops. I did, forgot to look for reviews!
They had the courage to ship to me the same “Japanese” camera with a bad quality XEROX copied manual, open box, and menu settled to English!
I am filing so ridiculous and stupid. DO NOT DO the same mistake!"
"This is an absolutely terrible retailer. I wanted to purchase a decent digital camera for my girlfriend as a gift. I saw a really great price advertised on their site and ordered it. Then, this guy e-mails me and tells me I have to call them because there is a "problem" with my order. I do so and they tell me that the camera I am ordering is the "Japanese" version and doesn't come with a manual in English and has poor battery life and that the "US" version is $65 more, plus shipping. I tell him I don't want it then. He bargains with me and offers free shipping and an extra batter. I eventually relent because it is for my girlfriend and I can't find the blue version anywhere else. They ship my order several days later and charge me an extra $15.00 for shipping after I was told I would get free shipping. This place is nothing but a bunch of bait-and-switch scam artists! I will never patronize their dishonest site again!"
"After ordering a $221 camera, the Ricoh Caplio R6, I was told I had to call in and confirm my order. I was then told that the battery included with the camera "only lasted for 10-15 minutes" and I would have to buy one of several much more expensive batteries, or a "retail pack" costing more. I said I would do some more research and get back to them.
I called again and tried to confirm exactly what battery shipped with the camera, but they refused to tell me, simply saying that it was not the DB- 70 battery that supposedly always ships with the camera. I said that I needed to do more research since it was all too suspicious, and the rep said "Your order is cancelled, sir, have a nice day" and hung up on me.
The company's address is not listed on their website, and the address on their internet domain registration is that of their network company, but it appears their actual address is 777 Bloomfield Ave, West Caldwell NJ 07006. Using this information I will be filing a complaint with the Better Business Bureau."
"DO NOT BUY FROM THIS COMPANY!!! I purchased a Canon camera yesterday, had to change my address on my credit card since it wasnt going to be shipped to my house and then got an email from them this morning to call to verify more information. The guy proceeded to tell me the battery was only a 20 minute battery, that I needed a high speed memory card etc. So I said okay but then called Canon. Canon said that is not true and the battery life is 230 pictures and that with any point and shoot camera you do not need a high speed memory card. I promptly called the company back and told them i did not want all that stuff, just the camera. He then said "just enjoy what you bought" and hung up on me. I then called back and cancelled my order. I tried to call my credit union to be proactive and see if I could block the charge or something but they couldnt. Im ready to go after this company if they charge me. DO NOT BUY FROM THIS COMPANY!!!"
"I made a purchase from this store and immediately they tried to upsell me. The order is stuck in limbo with a message to call in and complete the order. When you call they upsell you. I was informed that my camera was an import only model and it wouldn't work in the U.S., needed more memory, etc. No where on the web did it note import. I went back to the web to try and verify. Then, I call back to cancel. I was routed to the "Returns Dept," which is only a voice mail box. Web says you cannot return or cancel order by voicemail or email. Thanks to American Express, I was able to cancel the order and get a full refund. This company has about 300 complaints against it on the Better Business Bureau web site and they operate under many names."
"They are a bait-and-switch operation. I placed my order for a camera, and was told I had to contact customer service to "process" my order. They tried to sell me everything under the sun, and I said no. They finally told me that I had purchased a non-U.S. camera, and that all on-screen instructions were in Japanese. They wanted me to pay much more for a "U.S." version, so I cancelled my order. The only positive thing I can say about them is that they did not fraudulently charge my credit card, as I feared they might."
"I had a terrible experience with Broadway Photo and I'm taking the time to write this in the hopes of saving others from the same frustration. I ordered a Canon digital camera because the price was right and the rating for Broadway photo on the site was excellent. My shipping was supposed to be in 5-7 business days. About 2 weeks later I emailed them to inquire. I heard nothing. Then I called their customer service number twice. Each time I entered my invoice number only to be told by automation it was not valid. Then I held for a customer service rep for about 20 minutes with silence on the other end, before giving up. Finally, I emailed again and threatened to cancel my order. I got NO response from Broadway photo to any of these inquires but finally -- 3 weeks after placing my order -- got an email from another company altogether that my order was being shipped. I received it 6 days later -- nearly a month after I placed the order. BROADWAY PHOTO'S CUSTOMER SERVICE IS A NON-EXISTENT JOKE."
