I ordered a rather old, OEM motherboard model from Centrix (Intel Slot 1 440BX based SE440BX3), Centrix called to confirm the order, and I then waited patiently for it to arrive. I was utterly disappointed when I saw that the OEM motherboard was a Dell because I thought it would have a proprietary front panel connector (Centrix actually supplied the Dell power supply converter with the motherboard for free - a $10 value).

I sent Centrix an email saying I wanted to return the motherboard since it was a Dell and I couldn't use it. Joseph, one of Centrix's customer service reps, called me and told me the front panel on this Dell OEM board was standard and, to my chagrin, he was right. He then sent me an email with a picture showing me the pin layout and everything worked as he said it would.

Unfortunately, as I worked with the board, I began to suspect it was a used or returned board (not that unusual with an OEM board this old), so I took some pictures of the board and asked Joseph to compare this board with others in his inventory. What he did next was THE BEST customer service experience I have had with any online vendor since the sadly defunct Buyz.com (I've been ordering computer equipment online for close to eight years now.) He sent me another board, free of charge, postage and all. Now that is customer service!

If you're unsure of ordering something from Centrix, don't be. They stand behind their product and treat customers the way they should be treated.

"Ordered an old P4 motherboard. Board works fine and everything shipped quickly. I only had one, minor problem.

The had a separate link to an I/O shield that supposedly went with the board. The board I bought was ten bucks and the price of the shield almost doubled the cost of the order. The I/O shield doesn't go with this board. Sure, it'll work, but there are extra holes in it. I could have gotten any generic shield to do the exact same job. It's very likely the case I'm buying will come with an equally generic shield that will do the job as well or better.
