"Pitiful, pitiful customer service. I ordered some fuseless fireworks from their site and was unfortunately incorrect about the type of fireworks I was getting. When I received the product, the box containing 50 individual packages was in shambles. I actually had to hold it together to lift it out of the delivery box. At that time, I immediately knew that the product was not what I had believed it to be, and put it right back in the delivery box. I then notified cheaperthandirt.com of the mistake and asked for a refund. The refund was denied in complete contradiction to their return policy. Needless to say, I will never again order from their site, nor will I ever point anyone their direction. They have no concept of customer service."
"These guys are crooks. I just ordered a Spyderco ceramic benchstone from them, which cost me 37$+shipping and surprise: I get an open box item and the stone is broken on one corner. They even put tape on it to hold the pieces together. Wrote them an e-mail but no answer so far.
The thing gets worse: they eventually replied to my e-mail apologizing for their "mistake" and asked me to ship the item back to them for a full refund. They even sent me a FedEx label so I would not have to pay for the shipping.
And then, guess what? They partially refunded me, taking away 8$ for shipping, so they end up making money out of this whole thing.
Finally, after another exchange of e-mails and excuses from the store, I finally got all my money back."
"Beware of buying this or any other products from this company, as they are prone to use false advertising. Moments after ordering some of the Lake City 5.56mm ammo, I read other postings on their very own website that said 5.56 should not be used in weapons chambered for .223. I immediately contacted their customer service since my rifle is chambered for .223, and asked if I could replace that portion of my order with some ammo in .223. At this time, the ammo had not yet been shipped and I had also ordered $300 worth of handgun ammo. The woman I spoke to insisted that the ammo was .223 even though the boxes are plainly marked 5.56mm, and she pretended to ask a "technical person", who said the same thing. So I foolishly believed her and that was the ammo they shipped me. Subsequently, I found numerous other references to the fact that one must not shoot 5.56mm in a .223, including an email from the manufacturer of my rifle, referencing that specific brand and caliber 5.56mm. I emailed Cheaper Than Dirt twice requesting an exchange, and they never even replied to me. Look at all the places where there is 5.56mm on their website advertised as .223 despite all the warnings, and you get a pretty good idea of what sort of business people they are."
"I bought a Surefire flashlight in 1999, and I attempted to return it under their 30 day policy. They would not accept the return even though their posted policy stated that the only return exceptions were food, firearms, and ammo. They acknowledged that their posted policy said nothing about Surefire flashlights, but they would not accept returns of these items because Surefire would not reimburse them."
"Ordered ammo on Sunday. Found it for much less elsewhere on the internet. Immediately e-mailed customer service to cancel order at once. Unavaliable on weekend and no response.early monday morning got an e-mail that order not shipped yet, couldn't cancel.Asked if they would match the price from the other reputable place I orderded from and they refused. Obviously do NOT care about good will and customer satisfaction. I have been a loyal customer in the past, but now they have lost a customer. they shouldcall it "lack of customer service" or "customer dis-service" Very upset!!!"
"I placed the order on the 25th and it arrived on the am of the 28th."
"This was my second order from this company, and I intend to buy from them again. The prices are great, shipping is fast and (relatively) cheap.
I do agree with another poster here that they could do better with out of stock updates. One of the knives in my first order was out of stock, so i signed up for an alert. By the time I got their email telling me it was in stock, I'd already had it for 3 or 4 days ; - )
I would recommend cheaperthandirt.com to everyone. "
"I've been doing business with this company for two years now. I am a Club Member with another company (SG) and still I keep coming here for my ammo. I can't say enough about their good prices, prompt shipping and good customer service. My next purchase will be a Club membership so I can save even more. This is a no brainer people! Great products at great prices!!"
"Great prices but theyneed more up to date inventory information. "
"The prices were good and shipping was reasonable. However, it took several days to process my order. I guess I can live with the delay as long as the prices remain competitive."
"Excellent prices and fast shipping. I have been ordering for years from them and they have always been great."
"Great on-line store. Got a Cold Steel Titanium Handled Ti-Lite pocket knife for $98, lowest price on froogle.com is around $140. Also bought 1500 rounds of .22lr ammo for $30. Great prices and free shipping for orders over $150. Planing on going back soon and spending anouther $200."
"After window shopping here for over a year, I decided to give Cheaper than Dirt a try.
I ordered 4 Chip McCormick 8 round .45 mags and a bipod, all from an email sale alert I had received from them.
All items ordered showed as in stock, with more than enough on hand to fill my order.
On 1-9-04, I checked my account for a status on my order. Two days had passed, should be more than enough time to process the order, right? Apparently not.
On 1-11-04, I emailed their customer support to find out what was going on. Their response was that my order had been canceled because they ran out of what I had ordered, which they listed as only the bipod. So I emailed back, correcting the error. I was emailed again, stating that all items were out of stock, and my funds, totaling $26.96 would be refunded.
Well, I emailed again, correcting them yet again. My total purchase with shipping was 48.96. $26.96 woudl have been the bipod only with shipping. I also noted in this email that summarily canceling my order was unacceptable, as the sites clear policy is to hold my order until they had the stock back on hand to fill it.
It's now 1-13-04, the order still shows as pending in my account, it still shows the correct total of 48.96.
Am I disgusted with their handling of this order? Yes. Am I disappointed that I will not get what I ordered? Oh yea. Will I ever give them a spin again? Doubtful."
"Great prices and good communication. Everything came with proper documentation and good packing. No complaints."
