" I am extremely disappointed with Chegg and how they conduct textbook buybacks. I bought a book from them last semester and it came in pretty rough condition. After the semester was done, I sold the book back to Chegg in the exact same condition they sent it to me in, and was guaranteed $17.70 for it. After a month, I hadn't received my check, so I looked up my orders. According to my account, the transaction never happened. I was extremely confused, as I remembered sending it off and printing out the receipt.
I spent 20 minutes waiting for a rep to chat with. When they did answer, I was told they filed the book under "poor condition" and sent it to be recycled, so I would receive no money back.
My complaint is: I paid over $50 for that book and expected any socially responsible business to send it to me in fair shape, so for you to charge me for a book you deemed "unacceptable" and then not accept it when I return it in the same condition you sold it to me for, is just ridiculous. Secondly, you can't just erase an order, hoping I'll forget it happened. It was a formal transaction, so keep it in "my orders" on the website and give me an explanation for why you received a $50 book I sent you and didn't think you needed to tell me I wouldn't be getting any money back. Shame on you, Chegg. Pitiful. "

The ordering process was super easy, shipping was fast, and I got some awesome things in my box! My packing slip gave me all the information as to where the closest UPS is and all. "I ordered a book with expedited shipping with an expected arrival date of 1/6/15. I received a package from chegg filled with promotional items such as redbull and tide pods, but my book was nowhere to be found. I waited on hold for 20 minutes prior to speaking to a customer service agent. When spoken to i was given two options: 1) have the book reshipped and receive it on 1/8/15 (mind you I needed the book for the start of a college course on 1/6/15, hence the expedited shipping), or 2) receive a full refund but only when I returned the package you originally sent me plus five business days, negating my ability to purchase the book elsewhere in the meantime. Then when I explained that I felt the rental fee and shipping fee should be compensated for my inconvenience, the woman put me on hold and said the best she could do was a 10%. I kindly asked to speak to a manager and she said that there would not be one available for 24 hours. I proceeded to ask who she spoke to confirm that I could be given a mere 10% for the inconvenience and she stumbled and said that she was able to speak to the manager but that he was unavailable and was dealing with other customers. Worst customer service ever and even worse company policy. I will never do business with this company again and advise others to do the same. "

"I got a book through textbook.com, chegg was the rental service. I returned the book within due date, but my card was still charged. when I called in I was on hold for over 1/2 hour!! there was no reason given why this happened and no guarentee this won't happen again. when I asked for confirmation that they'll refund my card wouldn't give that to me either. horrible customer service!!! very unhappy!"
