"A couple of months ago, I placed an order for a Samsung 24" LCD monitor. Then, I had an unsatisfying experience with them, and finally I had to return the product.
Several issues are described as follows:
1) "New condition" is NOT actually new. On their web site, they claimed that the monitor was in "New condition". But after receiving the monitor and contacting Samsung, it turned out to be a factory REFURBISHED product.
2) "3 Year Warranty" is NOT from the manufacturer. Instead, the warranty claimed on their web site would be from CompuDirect.com. You will not realize this fact until you call them.
3) After the product was mailed back to them, they denied that they had receive it, even the tracking information from USPS showed that it had been delivered. So I had to contact my credit card company to deal with them and get money back.
In short, my experience with them is not good and I will NOT buy anything from them again. If you are going to do business with them, please be really careful!

"I received this computer on 2-27-08 and set it up and connected within a week. Upon booting up, the computer showed several external drives and a floppy drive that did not exist. The computer would freeze up when I would double click on my computer just to look to see what was installed on it. I would have to reboot to restart the computer. Upon trying to set Outlook Express to handle my email, the computer froze up requiring rebooting. When I put a CD in the drive, it would not work. I tried to install a couple of my programs from CD, DVD and my external hard drive, none of which would install correctly. An error message stating that it could not find a 'C' drive would always pop up and would not go away until I rebooted again.
I contacted CompuDirect and was told to submit a form online requesting a RMA to return it for repair. I received an email saying the RMA would be sent by email within 24-48 hours. I never received this email. Instead, a week later I received a phone call from Robert at 7:30 one night wanting to know what was going on with the computer. I explained my problems to him and he said it could be fixed over the phone with direction from him guiding me to do the work. I told him I preferred for his company experts to fix the computer, but he declined my request. I reminded him that I had a one year labor and parts warranty but he said the computer did not need repair.
He admitted to me that the hard drive being 'I' instead of 'C' could be contributing to the problems with the computer. He said that reformatting and reinstalling Windows XP and all the software should eliminate the problems. I asked to return the computer to have CompuDirect do the technical work but he refused. I asked to speak to the president of the company but he claimed that he was the president.
It took several hours of work over the phone on numerous days to complete this and it is still not done. The computer still does not work properly. I have a Creative Labs X-Fi Xtreme Audio SoundBlaster card installed that will not work because the computer does not recognize that it is installed. He said he would send me the Lightscribe CD so that my Lightscribe DVD will work which it does not. He has not sent me that either. My screensaver has never and still does not work. He was supposed to help repair that also. There are other things that still do not work. I have left several messages for him on his personal line and he has not returned any of my calls. After not receiving return calls from him, I emailed him a request to send me a postage paid mailing label so that I can send the computer back for repair. Robert has ignored all my calls and emails.
At this point I am working with the Attorney General's office so that they can take action this crooked company. DO NOT BUY ANYTHING FROM COMPUDIRECT.
2-19-08 CompuDirect STILL lying about what happened. They have no other choice. They are wrong and they know it. Lots of others do too...look at their record! An expert looked at my computer and thought some computer illiterate tried to build it! I have this ALL IN WRITING!
July 2009 UPDATE I never received any satisfaction from this company. I have never been able to return the computer repair. I finally got another computer company to rebuild it for me. The computer works fine now with the exception of my soundblaster card. It is non existent and I have a lesser sound card installed. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!

"I ordered a canister vacumm 12/20/08 and my mastercard account was immediately charged. It carried an IN-Production status from 12/22/08 until I cancelled the order 1/13/09. I have emailed the company two times since 1/13/09 asking for my refund only to receive their automatic reply that it would be addressed. Calls only get recording and ask you to record your request. I did not leave a message until 1/28/09 asking for a refund because they had not responded to any other requests. They had no trouble taking my money but don't seem to be able to return it. I will NEVER do business with compudirect again. UPDATE--31 JAN. Received word from resellerrating that Compudirect claimed I was never charged nor paid for the item ordered nor was the invoice number valid. I sent copies of all transactions to resellerrating to prove I had a) a valid invoice number, b) invoice with MasterCard charge,c) Bank statement with charge, d) bank statement showing refund. Also informed resellerrating that they called me at 1800 hrs. 29 Jan trying to get me to change rating. At the time I had just been notified that a refund would be processed so I told them that once refund was in my bank, I would reconsider. Then I received word that they are calling me a liar -- I do not take kindly to that!! If you still do business with such a company as Compudirect -- keep copies of all transactions -- and watch your back!!"
"I ordered a custom built machine using their configurator option in May. The parts were all labeled as in stock (and as of 11/7/08 still are) and I opted for the pre-testing and assembly. When I received my order, not all of the parts were what I ordered. Namely, a Micro ATX mobo in place of the full ATX I had ordered.
When I contacted the company about getting what I had ordered, I was told that the item was out of stock and to order a splitter to make up for the lack of expansion room. I would have been glad to pay the difference to have a different ATX board, but have been ignored by the company since. I refuse to pay for something more to make up for the retailer's mistake.
Now, several months later, various parts or the machine are dying out, and as I didn't receive paperwork or even a list of what parts were used in my machine, I cannot even take advantage of a manufacturer's warranty. According to CompuDirect's policies, I have a warranty and technical support for a year. When I contacted them, their response was to take it up with the manufacturer. When I tried to find the models and part numbers of the equipment I had I was ignored, again.
I am so frustrated with this company I have filed a complaint with the Ohio Attorney General's office.
EDIT: 11/11/08 Was contacted by the company in response to this review, currently working toward a solution.
EDIT: 12/9/08 In response to this review, CompuDirect contacted me and authorized an RMA. Everything from there was clear sailing. The products were upgraded and in working condition and the shipping was timely. I seem to have received both the best and the worst customer service from this company. Once they were aware of their mistake they took every step to fix things. You'll get a great price, and if you can get their attention, great service."
"These guys are great! We've ordered 8 machines from them so far, and expect to order more.
1) Price - If you price their builds against building yourself from NewEgg parts, you'll be surprised how little premium you pay for assembly, burn-in, testing and 3 years of support. And they don't try to gouge you on add-ons. Other shops make the basic machine price look good, but then overcharge for such things as extra memory or larger hard drives.
2) Service - They are eager to do whatever you want them to do. We supplied them with pre-licensed copies of Windows OSs, and they installed them for free.
3) Communication - They have a good system for providing order status and for communicating issues regarding an order.

"I have made several purchases in the past and am very satisfied. Great prices and an easy to use website. Never had a problem. I would recommend CompuDirect without hesitation."
"VERY POOR SERVICE, BEWARE.
ORDERED A MICROSOFT BLUETOOTH KEYBOARD AND MOUSE, WHEN RECEIVED THE WHEEL ON KEYBOARD DID NOT WORK, WAS ACTUALLY BROKEN, AND THE WHEEL ON THE MOUSE DOES NOT RESPOND. CALLED TO GET RMA SO THAT I COULD GET A REPLACEMENT, WAS TOLD I HAD TO EMAIL MY REQUEST WHICH I DID ON JULY 1, AND RECEIVED A REPLY ON JULY 2 THAT THEY WOULD BE ISSUING A RMA IN 24-48 HOURS. ON JULY 10, STILL NOT REPLY I SENT THEM AN EMAIL STATING THAT I JUST WANT TO RETURN THE KEYBOARD AND MOUSE AND GET A FULL REFUND. STILL NO RESPONSE. CALLED TODAY 7/15 WAS TOLD THERE WOULD BE A 20% RESTOCKING CHARGE??????????????? FOR WHAT THERE DAMAGED PRODUCT. WOULD NEVER ORDER FROM THIS COMPANY AGAIN, VERY POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE, VERY RUDE ON THE PHONE AND THEIR ONLY CONCERN IS NOT CUSTOMER SATISFACTION. WILL BE HANDLING THIS WITH MY CREDIT CARD COMPANY TO CANCEL THIS PURCHASE. "
" In a word; "Awesome!" I am a video editor and needed an extreme workstation that would simply do what I needed it to do. I contacted Compudirect in the early part of June for help along with component compatibility. I spoke with Alex in which he was very courteous and helpful in making my decision. Upon ordering my $4000.00 plus workstation on June 18, 2008 I asked Alex about a time frame, he estimated a shipment date of July 1, 2008. I received it on July 2, 2008. Compudirect (Alex) called me that same morning to let me know that I should be receiving it that day or the next. He asked me to contact him upon receiving it and to let him know if everything was configured and working properly. I was happy to call him back to report that everything looked and ran wonderful. Alex added, if I needed any assistance to feel free to call him.
I've read some negative reviews about this company, but as far as I'm concerned; they're on the up and up, very courteous, very helpful and very competitive. I highly recommend them and will definitely do business with them again in the future. I'd like to add that this company also offers a great 4 year warranty in which I purchased. If their Warranty/Tech help is as good as their sales division it would be above awesome, it would be phenomenal.

"I have been extremely pleased with Compudirect. Their prices are always very competitive and their customer service has been wonderful. Shipping times are the fastest around even for your standard ground[all I can afford :-)] For someone like me who orders online all the time, numerous experiences with them has made me a loyal customer. Thanks Compudirect!"
"Compudirect...Get what you want, never have to worry about getting the wrong items shipped, don't have to look at buying from multiple places...These guys are super competitive, one stop shopping for all the tech DIY people to your everyday user. Buy with confidence. Any problems, call and it will be resolved quickly by an ACTUAL person on the other end. Must have shipped same day I ordered, rec'd in 2 days from when I hit submit(2PM)on my order. Outstanding."
"I was given a tracking number after calling them 4 or 5 times..Tracking number had no activity for 10 days.UPS also confirmed that they did not receive the item but compudirect told me they did.
When you want to cancel your un-shipped item (because a tracking number for an item that is noy shipped means it is in shipping progress)
They want to charge you 20 pro cent fee.If you deny your shipment they charge you %20
Thanks to VISA Policy.. I told them the problem I had with compudirect and got my money BACK.
They rip you off because you don't have a time/chance/power to sue them.
Stay away from those guys.If you are into adventure, fear or adrenalin; Go and do skydiving or drive your car at 80 mph with eyes wide shut.
Order History..

05/08 I denied the shipment.
-------------------------------------------
This company is a LIAR.
They claimed to my bank that I have received the item. You can find the proof of their LIE on this link
Just check the tracking number on UPS and and compudirect's address on their website on "contact us link"
1-Item was not shipped to my credit card billing address which is in Europe.
2-The tracking number they gave proofs that they took it back.It is not in my possession.
Here is the proof of their LIE.

Check out other reviews..They send broken items as open box and dont take them back.(Due to their Open Box item policy)"
"I would never do business with these guys again and would discourage anyone else. I had so many problems with them I'm just going to highlight the biggest ones. I purchased a custom built computer from them.
My problems started the first week of my order with their terrible customer service, which prefers to rub your nose in their terms and conditions as opposed to trying to help you with legitimate problems with your order.
I was told my computer would ship in 7-10 days. It finally shipped 32 days after I placed my initial order.
When I got the computer 2 of the parts inside the computer were different than the parts I ordered and paid for. They were cheaper of course and the difference in price was $71.14 based on the prices on their website. After repeated complaints they finally refunded me $53, but they will not tell me how they arrived at a different figure than me in spite of my repeated requests for them to do so.
I paid them $129.00 for an OEM copy of Windows Vista HP and received a used, damaged Dell Computer Product key sticker and a Dell recovery CD (Software piracy according to the Windows Genuine website). Also the DVD burner I ordered came with software and the disk for that was missing too.
A tech support rep promised about 7 weeks ago to ship the missing software to me the next day, but didn't. I've contacted them many times since and they don't even respond, let alone lift a finger to resolve these remaining problems.
This was the worst experience I've ever had buying anything online.
Update: Compudirect contacted Resellerratings.com about a day after this posted and denied I was charged for this order in an effort to get this post removed from the site. I had to provide my credit card statement to RR.com in order to keep this review up. As an FYI it is Compudirect's written policy on their website to immediately charge in full for all custom computer orders (and I can assure you they follow this policy) so if you think this might have been an honest mistake on the part of Compudirect guess again. These guys are bad news.
Final update: I finally got them to hammer out the money with me and provide the missing software. It took over 2 months 20 emails, lots of phone calls and this review, plus filing a dispute with my card company and a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. I've spent far more time fighting this than they spent building my computer.
Response to reseller reply: What Compudirect wrote is an absolute lie. If you have any doubts still about doing business with these guys consider this: This is the second response CompuDirect has posted in regards to my review. The first response contained my full name, my address and my phone number. I contacted RR.com and they thankfully immediately removed my personal information from the response. I provided this information to CompuDirect to complete a transaction and they turned around and published it on a public forum. You'd be looking at my address and phone number right now if it wasn't for the good folks at RR.com. Now do you want to do business with these guys?"
"I went to the CompuDirect website, and though it was spartan, I found I liked the "configurator" to build my machine. I was able to select the components I wanted and it told me that each item was in stock.
The component prices weren't the cheapest but were competitive. The shipping price for 2nd Day business was great and prompted me to drop another $20 for it.
I was given an estimated shipping date of two weeks. This turned into three weeks. I used their online chat service to talk to a customer service rep. to find out what the holdup was and spoke to Victorya. This was a decidedly unpleasant experience. She offered no explanation for the delay, told me that I wasn't their only customer and in general made me feel that my business was needed let alone wanted. This ten five minute convo was enough to set me against repeat shopping with CompuDirect. Several days later I contacted, I believe Robert or Michael via the same chat, and this second convo informed me that the reason for the delay was that the case had been out of stock.
The computer that I received was very nice and has lived up to my expectations from a hardware perspective."
"Just a warning and to echo what others have said...their website shows items in stock that are actually not. Placed on order on 11/21. Six days later got an email saying there was an unexpected delay in shipping "until further notice". Next day received another email saying they did not know when it was going to be in stock and to contact them if I wanted to cancel, but that it would be subject to a 10% cancellation fee. I have never heard of a retailer that would try to charge you for canceling an order that was not in stock. I did get live chat help with the order, but the person was somewhat rude claiming that the website showed it was out of stock since 11/19. Not true. Did not charge me a cancellation fee, but would not do business with someone with such ridiculous policy considering there is NO cost to them to cancel an online order that is not in stock."
"I was very pleased with the purchase/delivery time. I will do more business with them and I encourage you to do the same."
