"I would shop at CompuVest again. Indeed, I've purchased from them once before. This time, I ordered a "generic" memory chip (RAM) for an older ThinkPad and a "white-boxed" universal remote control (URC RFS200 PowerPak Bundle).

The items were shipped promptly and well-packed.

The RAM works fine.

The remote did not work; I also suspect it may have been a store return since there was a dog-ear on a page of the manual.

CompuVest was very fast at responding to my emailed request for a Return Merchandise Authorization. Even my specific questions about the return process were answered personally and fast. That gives me confidence.

After receiving the RMA, I tried batteries other than those that came with the unit, and it worked perfectly. So I didn't have to return it after all. It's weird that the unit was shipped with dead batteries, but the price was ~$60, which (after shipping costs) was about $15 less than the closest competitor; and it works fine.

(The non-retail white-box packaging -- advertised as "New Plain Box" by CompuVest -- and the dead batteries are the other reasons I think this may not have been entirely new product.)

I've given top marks on everything but I was tempted to deduct a single star for overall satisfaction, since I think they may have sold me an item as new that the manufacturer sold them as "refurbished". But I'm pleased on an all-stars level in every other regard, and the maybe-not-new product does work like new. The batteries problem and dog-ear may well lie with the manufacturer. And I think this company is worthy of the consumer's trust."
