"We had a server offline Friday midday in Portland, OR and we were scrambling around looking for a place to buy replacement SCSI drives - nothing local available. We searched on www.pricewatch.com and found that Computer Giants had what we needed in stock. We placed an order with Computer Giants late on a Friday at 2pm and by Saturday at 12 noon we had the drives at our office.
We phoned in to make the arrangements since it was so late in the day and we wanted Saturday shipping. They were very easy to reach by phone. A person named Randy completed the order for us, he was very helpful and courteous. We called him initially to setup the order and then we called him back to make the final order placement.
They had great availability of well priced server quality SCSI hard drives and Compaq Proliant parts, and they were able to put together the order quickly and ship it off to us. We received a tracking number via email as soon as the package was on its way.
Everything is working well for us and we are pleased with the company and their helpfulness in fulfulling our order."
"I'm one of the unique buyer who require a different shipping address than billing address. To do this, a buyer has to register the shipping address with the credit card company, which I already did. To make the story short, I ordered 2 modules of Kingston PC3200 ECC RAM on their website on May 13th, 2003, and everything went smoothly. The next day, I got an e-mail from them saying that my shipping address is not the same as my credit card company has on record. I admit that I've made a mistake because our work office had just moved and I got the number mixed up. I then called them on the phone at work and tried to correct the problem. I've talked to some lady and gave her the correct information and she said she will give it to Matt, the person who e-mailed me to call them. After I got home that evening I got an e-mail again saying my order has been declined. Not until the 21st that they e-mailed me saying my order has been cancelled, like I haven't done it already. I didn't want to mess around with them anymore so I browsed around the web to see who has the same product. I stumbled around and came upon Computers4Sure and bought some from them without a glitch. I got an e-mail with tracking number the next day. I have ordered from NewEggg, GoodgleGear, and Monarch Computer without problems. I guess if this is how they do business then they will definitely lose future sales from me. I've spent over $600 within the past week and I need to buy some more things really soon. I guess that's why they have a 6.28 lifetime rating out of 10. If that's a grade in school, it would be a D-, barely passing. But if you look at their last 6 month's rating, it's 4.88. That's 1.12 points needed for passing."
"Shipped defective product twice and didn't offer to refund or pay shipping after the second error. After admitting to QA problems with the lot that they had been shipping from, would not even offer to sell a more expensive product at cost as consideration. While their technical support staff is both helpful and capable, the management concern with customer satisfaction is poor. Beware of their low prices."
"UPDATE, 2003.03.10: CG has told me to contact WD directly for RMA service on this disk.
I ordered a WD2000 drive from Computer Giants. They shipped it via FedEx on February 18th. After a few weeks of intermittent and very light operation, the drive failed today (March 9th.) I tried to file an RMA but their site's RMA page gets an ODBC error when I click on the submit button.
I've e-mailed the RMA request to their customer service people. I'll update this review after they reply. I'll say it right here in case anyone from CG reads this. I won't be a happy camper if you suggest that I pay a 25% re-stocking fee for a bum disk. It's no big deal to write a note to the New York and Texas AGs, the Better Business Bureau, et cetera, if I can't resolve it with CG quickly. I see that computergiantssucks.com/.net/.org haven't been registered yet...

"This was the worst service I've had ever with an online company, I am never doing business with this company ever again. I sent five e-mails requesting help and had no responses to any of them. "
"Well I had typed up quite a lengthy reflection of my experiences. Unfortunatelly accidentally hitting the back button and then returning forward to this page reset this text field (I hate sites that do that). I haven't got a clue what our PO number was either. Anyhow here's the jist of the problem.
We, a state agency, ordered a nice SCSI hard drive from Computer Giants. Low price on pricewatch.com is why. It arrived fast right before Thanksgiving. I installed it in a server the followning Monday. That night from home I ran into numerous formatting problems. Eventually I managed to format the drive. I started copying about 30GB of data to the new drive. The next morning the server was hung. I rebooted and determined that it hung during the copy. I attempted to remove the files from the new HD but received an I/O error instead. The drive was DOA (DOA because it essentially didn't work and might as well have not even spun up).
I first called Maxtor to see if they had any known problems with the drive and if they could do anything. The guy was real nice and searched through the tech notes for me. No problems were associated with that drive. He said we should really be working with the reseller to resolve the matter since we should be under a reseller house warranty/garuntee but to call back if they wouldn't help us. He also said they'd most likely replace the drive with a refurbished drive which wouldn't be an adequate replacement for our new but DOA drive. I called Computer Giants and asked for a replacement ASAP. The woman refused because it had been over 2 weeks from when the drive was shipped (not when it wsa delivered). We argued about this for a while. I told her that the State of does not pay for DOA products. Apparently she forgot we were a state agency. I also realized about that time (after looking up the tracking information) that they hadn't actually shipped the package on time and that in fact we were under the 2 weeks timeframe for returns. Ha!
Well, now she decided she'd take the drive back and give us a new one. First we'd have to ship the old on back at our expense. Then we'd have to wait for someone there to verify that the drive actually had a problem. Then we'd get a replacement. She couldn't give me a complete ETA for this though. This infuriated me. The money was what made me the maddest. First we paid to have a DOA drive shipped to us. Now they want us to pay to have it sent back? Not going to happen. She refused to pass me off to a supervisor. I eventually gave the matter to our purchasing officer. She reamed the Computer Giants woman too. Finally the purchasing officer gave up and said what we did was up to me. We could either pay to ship the DOA drive back, something which was against both of our principles, or she thought that perhaps calling Maxtor back would be worth a shot.
I called Maxtor back and told them the story. I expected they'd be nice but not be able to do anything other than offer a refurb. Well, I was wrong. They were exceptionally nice about the whole thing and offered to replace the DOA drive with a brand new one. The gentlemen and I even traded good and bad stories about dealing with Internet resellers while he typed. Unfortunately we'd still have to pay shipping for the DOA drive back to Maxtor but they'd advance ship the replacement. They'd been so nice about the whole thing we really didn't mind paying at all. Maxtor's customer service saved the day. They get an A+ in my book. I only wish all vendors and resellers could take a lesson or two from them. Thanks Maxtor!
Oh, and I don't recommend buying from Computer Giant because of this. Of course YMMV."
"I have had the opportunity to work with Computer Giants on multiple purchases and found everything to run so smoothly. When I call they are professional, knowledgeable, and pleasant to work with. They had great quality, and were timely. Not to mention I purchased significant quantity. It's nice to have someone to count on. Thanks Computer Giants...and keep up the good work.
"
"We have purchased from Computer Giants in the past and sometimes the parts came a bit late but didn't have too many problems until this last purchase. Unfortunately we will no longer use this vendor. They have a very minimal staff to handle any problems which leads to very long wait times. It took three calls to get an RMA for a product they told us they canceled and shipped anyway. Then they ended up sending it back to us and charging us anyway because of shipping issues. This was handled in a very unprofessional manner."
"Just placed my first order with this company. Excellent website design, everything you'd want to know easy to find, email confirmation of order received immediately. I like the "free shipping" and they had the best price on the AIT tape I was looking for. Will comment again when order arrives, but good to go so far."
"Be sure to read the fine print...this company charges a 25% restocking fee for returning plus a technician fee to inspect your returned item....you can end up owing them money if you retune something....I'll never do business with them again."
"Purchased Thinkpad battery. Transaction went very smoothly. Free ground shipping from Southern CA to Northern CA in two business days. Customer Support is staffed with nice folks. A positive experience."
"I order a Storage Country external firewire enclosure. I spoke to their technical department before placing the order and was pleasantly surprised I didnt have to wait on hold forever. They were very courteous and helpful. I placed my order and got a tracking number that same day. I received the package a few days later using their free ground option and everything was well packed and in excellent condition. I use a lot of storage and will use these guys again."
"I ordered some hard drives , memory and dvd rom at 4pm for overnight service. Not exepecting to get shipment the next day, to my surprise that evening i recieved email confirmation with tracking numbers. Althrough it was shipped out from different warehouses, I received my packages the next afternoon. The tech support was very helpful in helping me decide about my purchase. I would highly recommend!"
"I placed on online order for a hard drive and cable I desperately needed. The price was excellent but I called to make sure it was in stock. I placed the order and promptly received an email notification of my order. That evening I received two tracking numbers, one from their California warehouse and one from New York. I received everything in a timely manner and the products were very well packaged. With excellent service, pricing and shipping they will see me again."
"I will never order from this company again. They represent themselves as a company in New York, yet they shipped the items from California with NO NOTIFICATION that they have both east and west coast locations or that they may ship from one or the other at their own discretion.
They do not provide "in-stock" or "out-of-stock" status on their site.
They delayed and split-ship the order from multiple locations without prior or post notification.
All emails seem to take over 24 hours to arrive or get a reply.
When I complained about the above issues, I was told to "GET LOST" (exact words)
