"This may seem trivial, but it really bugs me. The E-Bay auction was going to end in few minutes; I rushed to bid and won. I then noticed the huge amount of negative feedback the seller has. Most of the negative feedback was related to invalid or missing activation keys, codes, etc. In all fairness to the seller, the seller does clearly state that they do not guarantee a valid key. What bothered me was not the negative feedback that this seller received per se, but rather that the seller clearly, and without fail, uses feedback to retaliate.

In these auctions, the buyers pay, and then the sellers ship. The buyers perform and complete their contractual obligations before the sellers. A seller should base their feedback on the buyer fulfilling the purchase and payment side, not on the type of feedback the buyer leaves.

Obviously, this seller is operating on thin ice, and somewhat deceptively, and realizes the huge amount of negative feedback that it will receive. As such, this seller has chosen to leave feedback ONLY after the buyer has. The seller does not leave feedback based on the buyer’s performance, but rather simply "mirrors" the buyer positive, negative, or neutral feedback. In doing so, the seller is holding unhappy buyer "hostage", so to speak. If you review the sellers feedback, and the feedback of the seller’s customers, you will find the that seller, without fail, will leave feedback within minutes of the buyers and it will always be exactly what the buyer left (positive, negative, neutral). I tested this.

I got lucky. The key worked. But it was annoying waiting and wondering if the product would work and knowing that my only recourse (feedback) would hurt me more than the seller. A confident and honest seller will leave feedback when payment is received as agreed to in the auction."

"Seller says they did not check this item but the item was not in its original box so it was easy to see the the cdkey sticker had been peeled off the cd case that it did come with. I bought the game again from them as a test and to see if the second one had a cdkey which it did and that one showed as a used cdkey when I tried to register the game online so I could play it. It says in the auction that they have not checked the item for usability or if it has all the parts but when it does not come in the original box and they are selling multiple copies of the game it should be pretty obvious that one is missing the cdkey off the cover of the disc holder.
