"Ordering from Cost Central has been an usually easy and satisfying experience.
In the past, I have several times ordered from the usual suspects, specifically fotoconnection and broadway photo, because of very low advertised prices. It never was a nightmare but like many reviewers here i have been subjected to very heavy sales tactics, incorrect statements and information, and bundled products of minmal quality at best.
By comparison, I got precisely what I needed from Cost Central, specifically a new Sony camcorder. The online store allowed be to check price and inventory and the information was correct (indeed, at the end of the day I ordered, all their stock had been ordered and I was able to see it dwindle throughout the day). I paid a price which, while not the cheapest offered by fly-by-night net operators, was much better than what better known resellers could offer. The shipment arrived intact, when planned.
Cost Central provided me with e-mail invoicing, shipement alert and tracking, all in time, without surprise and without having to jump through unexpected hoops."

"I ordered a Lenovo R61 laptop from CostCentral because the price was much lower than I would have paid for a similarly configured machine on Lenovo's own website. After a couple days, nothing had happened: no charge on my credit card, no shipping information. Also, the price of the laptop on costcentral.com had jumped from $515 to $893. I sent customer service an email to see what was up, but I feared the worst.
Turns out, my credit card company had refused the charge (for a totally legitimate reason that I should have foreseen). After I cleared up that issue, the CostCentral rep ran the order through again, honoring the lower price. Shipping was prompt and the laptop arrived in good condition.
In conclusion, I am completely satisfied with my purchase from CostCentral. They dealt with my problem quickly and efficiently, and they did not try to play any tricks even though they had the opportunity."
"My wife ordered the Tomtom Rider 2 GPS system from Erie Computer via Cost Central. She asked several times to make sure this was the Rider 2 and not the original version, Rider. The GPS was shipped on 4 February and arrived 6 February which was fine. When I opened the package I realized they sent the original Rider, not the Rider 2. I called the customer service number the next day and told Stacy that I wanted to return the item and have my card credited.
Stacy informed me that it would take up to 72 hours to receive a return authorization number and it would be sent by e-mail (this was Thursday 7 February). On Monday 11 February I called Stacy and she gave me the return number and address. I packed the item up and mailed it via FedEx on Tuesday 12 February and it was received by Erie Computer on 13 February.
Once again, I called Stacy and asked her when I could expect to see my card credited and she said it would be 7-10 days. I checked with my credit card company on 22 February and my card still has not been credited. At that point I filed a dispute with my credit card company.
Overall view of transaction: First, the price charged was higher than other, more reliable sites on the internet. In fact, the price they charged for the Tomtom Rider 2 is over the list price. The return policy is the worst I have ever dealt with and is still unresolved. I do not recommend Cost Central/Erie Computer at all. "
