"I've ordered from their website several times now with nothing but great experiences. Among my best experiences, I've had a 5 foot cabinet delivered into my office free next day when the cabinet itself was only $130.

My most recent order was for a 22" LCD. The price was great and the specs for the monitor were among the best I'd seen before on any LCD. I received it and was pretty happy with the display, even though the overall fabrication of this off-brand monitor was less than I'd expected from Costco. However, when I decided to return it and instead order a new LCD from Costco (with 2000:1 contrast ratio), I was able to take the original purchase back to the store with no questions asked. I got a refund for my entire cost, including shipping.

This is simply the best major retailer there is. I couldn't be much happier with their customer policies.

"Great service if you do not have issues with subitems on orders then you have problems.
You can either return all or nothing. So if you buy a laptop and a backpack or other loosely releated items and have a problem with one of them you and you want to return it then I feel VERY sorry for you since it is a all or nothing policy. That is all because of there IT system can not seperate items.

Okay pricing, sometimes good, sometimes just okay. But...... what makes Costco.com so great is that if you don't like what you've purchased, you can simply return it to your local warehouse for a quick and easy refund INCLUDING THE SHIPPING CHARGES.

"Buying from Costco.com is an experience from hell--unlike shopping in a Costco store. In October 2006 I ordered a modular wall unit, and contrary to what the website says, my credit card was charged immediately. Later, a Costco.com service rep denied that happens and essentially called me a liar.

In late November, "2 guys with a truck" showed up well after dark and well beyond the scheduled 8AM-5PM delivery time. They first brought in a cabinet I didn't even order. They then brought in two seriously damaged cabinets with hundreds of pieces of styrofoam stuck to them. Have you ever noticed that styrofoam pieces love to stick to carpeting? Along the way they managed to take a huge chunk out of my wall and leave styrofoam pieces all over my lawn. Their cart left tracks in my lawn as well. At this point I refused to accept delivery.

When I called Costco to complain I was told that the vendor would call me within three weeks about an expedited replacement shipment. When I asked the rep why I had to wait three weesk for a phone call, he said that's how it works unless I want to call the vendor. He gave me the phone number and then I did his job by calling the vendor and asking for an expedited replacement shipment. The vendor (Whalen Mfg) rep bordered on rude and didn't seem to be concerned at all that their furniture comes out of the box looking like it was used for kung-fu practice. When I asked how long the expedited shipment would take, I was told it would take just as long as the original order. Go Whalen Mfg!

I'm leaving a lot of detail out (none of it makes Coscto or Whalen look good) to make this brief but I wrote a letter to the Costco CEO detailing the poor quality of the product, the poor quality of the delivery, the poor quality of the service reps, and the fact that a day's pay was lost waiting for a delivery that never came on time. I even included a picture of our damaged wall.

Thirty days pass....

I never heard a thing from the Costco CEO or anyone else at Costco. Not even an email about an "expedited" shipment. My onlne order status still showed "shipped." I called Costco to ask where the furniture was and the first rep said she'd find out and call me back--she didn't. I called the next day and another rep told me that he'd find out and email the information--he didn't. I called the third day and told themn I wanted to cancel the order and wanted a refund. The rep started arguing with me and told me that she couldn't give me a refund and that I was totally wrong about having my credit card charged the moment I made the purchase. She obviously believes the crap they tell her but they do charge your credit card immediately.

They never refunded my money and after several days an email arrived with a waybill number. A couple weeks later "2 guys with a truck" show up with the furniture. I asked them to unload and unpack everything outside so I could check it before it's brought into my house. This time, the only damage is a broken magnetic door latch but again, there are styrofoam pieces on everything. Luckily, the pieces are oustide this time and I can clean them off. During assembly they find a "minicam" missing from one of the units. Due to the construction of the units, unless you have all of the pieces, you can't build the modular wall.

Now, I have a Costco modular wall sitting in my house in pieces and the chances of getting the right parts from Costco are probably slim to none. After all, they wouldn't even help when the furniture was damaged.

I've been a Costco shopper for years and have gotten great service at their stores. Costco.com is the epitome of bad products, bad service, terrible customer service, and a sure way to have your credit card charged knowing you'll never be able to get a refund. If the product ever shows up, it may be damaged and your chances of getting another damaged one are 100%. And what about that "White Glove" delivery? By the time you're done cleaning up the styrofoam pieces, patching your walls, and putting the stuff together yourself so you don't lose another day's pay (if you can ever get the parts from Costco), you may have wished you never heard of Costco.com.

I've been a big fan of Costco for years and always told people that the prices and service were great. No more. Now, I tell them that the "old" Costco is gone. The "new" Costco acts just like other online scam artists with cheap shoddy merchandise, reps that never help, and immediate credit card charges regardless of their "policy". that claims they only charge your credit card when the item is shipped. Refund? Fat chance of getting one.

You've been warned.

"I occasionally order items from Costco and buy our Swarovski Christmas ornament there every year. Ordered on 12/1, received 12/6. Costco is always very quick to deliver and they always have great prices. For some odd reason their only email correspondence is an email telling you the item was delivered. The order information is always up to date on their excellent web site."

"Placed an order through Costco.com for our bedroom furniture set that indicated a 4 to 6 weeks delivery time on 8/19. Five days later, my credit card is charged for the full amount of ~$2000. It is Costco's policy that they do not charge your acct until your complete order is shipped.

Called Lifestyle Solutions once a week for 3 weeks to obtain delivery ETA. Each time they said to call back next week for tracking info. Emailed Costco RE my order status and 1st time they responded in 24 hrs that they are researching and will contact me the following week. Never heard from them.

One would think it does not take 4 weeks to transport furniture by freight, even from LS's NJ warehouse like they said. Sometime around the 5th week, I called Costco and finally got word that the furniture was backordered! Backordered, yet you charged my CC. WTH??

As of today, it has been more than 9 weeks (2 months) since I have been billed. No help from either Lifestyle Solutions or Costco. Even if Costco does not deal directly with the furniture shipment, it is inexcusable and unacceptable for them to be reselling products by a vendor with such practices.

Costco, where is my furniture set?

UPDATE (11/14/06) - Got back in touch with CostCo and they finally credited the full amount back to my credit card. Wasted 3 months waiting for phantom furniture that never arrived. Thanks Costco!

"Even though the furniture I ordered came to me TWICE damaged, and I had to TWICE refuse shipment, I was not going to give Costco.com a bad rating, since it was not really their fault. It was either the direct seller selling through Costco, or the shipping company.

However, I have been waiting for my refund way too long. A few weeks now. And their hold times on their customer service phone line are ridiculous.

As much as I love Costco the store, I cannot say the same about their website customer service. It's easier to accept shipment and take it to a store for a refund, than to deal with their phone people. Of course with 3 large furniture pieces it's not so easy.

Thanx for nothing Costco.com. And will somebody refund me my money already?!!!

By the way the tracking number I was given never did show up on the shipper's page. It simply said no such shipment existed. Thanx for nothing indeed.

"Also surprised at the low rating. I think many users here are more web-oriented and expect the same level of online service as a full-fledged e-tailer. But the web is probably only a small part of Costco's business model although no doubt they are trying to grow it.

We will spend over $7000 this year at Costco, groceries and durables combined. Enough to justify the Gold level membership and the store card, which adds benefits. We used to be Sam's members but gave that up in spite of the Costco store location being a little less convenient. The store layout, product rotation and selection, customer service and of course pricing are all ahead of Sam's IMO, at least the last time we went to Sam's.

Recently made a web purchase and Costco stepped in to fix a problem caused by the manufacturer (a call to the mfg did not resolve this initially). With one call to Costco.com, about 5 minutes, it was done.

Yes, you are not going to get Neiman's level service here, and by that I mean pampering. But you do get what you need assuming your needs begin with excellent pricing and straight-up service. Returns are never a problem.

The above may sound like a bit of cheerleading for Costco but I am not affiliated in any way, not even a shareholder.

"Amazing to see such a low rating for Costco.

We've been shopping there even before they were Costco and merged with Price Club.

I have nothing but positive things to say and stellar experience with them. We purhcase from them both professionally for the office as well as for our home. They have a lifetime guarantee on all their products and always very professional.

We've purchased, TV's, computers, AC's, computer hardware, software, food, clothes, office supplies, first aid kits, snack food. You name it.

During our company BBQ's, I am responsible for co-ordinating and costco makes it so eary. They have great prices, and everything is top notch. They are a one stop shop. We buy the wine, meet, rice, corn, cake, bread, and sides all from Costco.

For office supplies, we purhcase a good majority of the bulk items there, paper, pens, boxes, white out, etc.

For the home, we buy the towels, kids clothes, toys, games, books, food, etc.

And how can you beet the lifetime guarantee they offer.

We've purchased online as well and have never had a problem.

Some problems with QC of products and customer service I usually would not point a finger so quickly. True they shoudl only carry quality products, but if the delivery company damages it, I don't think that should fall on Costco's head. They ship nationwide and can not control details of such matter, and shouldn't be expected to. I haven't had any problems with customer service. True, some people are not as quick as others, but you'll find that in any retail store or location, I guarantee it. True some can say, upstanding companies only hire high caliber staff. NO ONE'S PERFECT! And if that's what you're expencting, boy will your life be full of dissapointment.

Again, GREAT EXPERIENCE! Great company. I don't see how they're not larger than Walmart, becuase I sure enjoy my experience there more than I do at WalMart.

"Ordered a 42" Sceptre LCD TV from this site and later another 27" LCD. it was a little difficult to track the orders since I guess they deliver TVs through another shipper, but both arrived in a timely manner and in perfect condition. The return policy is great too--you can just take any item back to any costco warehouse. and the price for these items was unbeatable."

"I placed an order from Costco's website for a 37" Sceptre LCD TV. It was delivered via UPS and the outer box was a little banged up. One of the styrofoam supports/padding for the TV was broken in the inner box, but I could find no damage or ill effects because of it.

I've had no other problems so far with my purchase and am currently awaiting a rebate to be fulfilled. One of my main reasons for buying from Costco's web site is their satisfaction-guaranteed return policy that is honored at their B&M locations, which I shop at fairly often.

"I have purchased a HD-DVD manufactured by Toshiba from Costco in Dec. 22nd of 2005. Recently I found the DVD holder can NOT be opened. I tried to fixed, but I failed. So I have to send the HD-DVD back to the store without box and missed some other accessaries. Well, guess what, they took it back, and tried to help me to find another one. But currently, they do NOT have a HD DVD with HEMI output. I have to wait next time, when the store has it.

Comparing to my other experience that I purchase a SLR digital camera (Canon Rebel XT) from a store called "USA PHOTO NATION". It was horrible experience in my fourty something life. They are baite and switch, and ..... I hope I can get my money back eventually.

Think about this, how many people shopping in Coatco everyday, and how many people complain the Costco.

From now on, I will only shop in Costco.

"Horrible experience!!!. Last month I made $3500 purchase from Costco.com. It was a bedroom set from Lifestyle Solutions. We received the bedroom set but all the pieces were damaged or very poorly manufactured that you can not even close the drawers. We sent them back, sleeping on the floor without a bed, and now they are sending wrong order or we can't be able to trace it. Costoc.com has horrible customer service as well. We still have no complete bedroom set and nobody knows where the rest of the set. Please be aware of these issue."
