"I purchased the South Shore Versa Computer Desk with Hutch in Gray Maple. I love the desk! It's very sturdy (you will need 2 people if you have to move it) well built, simple to assemble and the directions were clear. Even though it was the same basic assembly with the lock nuts and wooden dowels, it's built so much better than others like it! They packaged it extremely well too.
The only issue I had was a little damage to one of the parts, which wasn't the company's fault. I'll explain in a minute.
I emailed the company and they jumped on my issue, no questions asked, with an urgency I haven't seen in a long time! I actually smiled about it. I've been in Quality and Customer service for a long time and THAT is how you assist YOUR customer! I recieved the part promptly.
The initial damage to the desk was due to the shipping company, I can't remember who it was now. When I recieved the package, the box had a huge gash in it, exactly where the damage to the desk was. I've also worked for shipping companies so I know how packages are tossed around with no care at all. This desk is very heavy and requires 2 people to move it around and I'm sure this is why the packing box was damaged.
I'm sure because when I recieved my replacement part, it too came in the same sized packing box, was also heavy and had an even LARGER gash in it! Luckily it wasn't damaged.
I took pictures of the damage to both of the packing boxes, for the company of the desk, because I want to urge them to file a complaint with the shipping company, and either charge them for every damage they cause to a product or they don't pay a dime for it to be shipped.
Most people wouldn't look furthur into something like this, they would just think the company sent them damaged goods and a customer with 1 bad experience will tell about 20 others and this damages a companies reputation. The shipping company ia going to cost this company a lot of money and a lot of customers! I hope this company takes my advice because their product and especially their customer service was just remarkable!"
