Bush Hog

"When I received it the instruction were okay, got together soon enough. However, the belt kept coming off. I call support and we could not get it to work (this is in july 18), I did not get it back until Mid-October. The problem was with the belt and guide, the company check on the repair part and were told they are on back order. Way too long, I email the CEO and told him this is BS, I wasn't upset that it had a defective part that happens and it was my bad luck I got it. Taking so long to get the repair part is what got me **** off. After I contact him, the Bush Hog was repair and back to me in two weeks (F A amazing). When I got I used it and it is a monster, exactly what I need, in the end it was sort of worth the wait, the price was good, now I hoping to get many years of use out of it."

Doesn't have parts

"Bought a blower, weedeater, and chainsaw all run on DR 18V lithium battery. They do not have the 18V battery to sale and neither does anyone else. All 3 tools are now useless. "

bought a 3600 psi power washer.

"bought a 3600 psi power washer online. i took it out of the box and started putting it together when i notice there was oil in it already. so i open the gas tank and what do u know it smells like gas. thought i would finish up and see if it worked anyway . went to put gas in the tank and the gas line was disconnected....so i put the gas line back on and guess what ....IT DIDNT START....wouldnt turn over ....i was so **** called customer service and they tried to send me to tech support...i demanded a new power washer...thats what i paid for....i'll let u know how the story ends in 2 weeks when the new one gets here...."

Mamas, don't let your babies grow up to buy DR Power chipper-shredders!

"Started my brand new DR 11.5 chipper-shredder, and it worked beautifully for about 20 minutes. Then it began making a terrible scraping noise. I stopped it, disassembled the screen area to see inside, and found a retaining ring and a washer on the floor of the discharge area. The shaft had slipped to the right so the blades were scraping the wall of the chipper.

Wrote to DR, and a tech responded right away. He told me how to fix it. He was wrong. He also pointed me to the wrong schematic in the owner’s manual. Spent probably 6-8 hours trying to do the repair myself, but the deeper I went, the more problems I found, such as a loose bolt on the belt pulley as well as a protruding key. And I still can't figure out where the stray, disconnected nut goes. Went to their support page and contacted a tech via Live Chat. When I explained the problem, he said I had to call the tech department, even though I was already talking to the tech department. Repeated attempts to reach the tech department by phone resulted in an interminable marathon of banjo music. Back to Live Chat with a plea for help that didn’t involve banjo music. Haven’t heard back from him. Must have hurt his feelings. Maybe he was the banjo player.

Now I'm taking the chipper to a local repair shop. So it was 1,000 bucks for the chipper, probably 200 more for the repair. But at least I no longer have to listen to telephonic banjo music.

bad quality product

"bought a bush mower from their website, rated 5 stars on their site.

website claims shipping out in 1-3 business days, and took more than a week to ship, called in couple of times to check shipping status and keep saying shipping out tomorrow.

finally got the product, first, missing a bolt for the handle. so I called in and they promise me to send me one quickly as I do not have exact same bolt.

Get the engine starts up, but the mover won't move forward or backward, called 2-3 times, every time holding 20-30 minutes to get a support told me to adjust the this and that, check to see if the belt is there, wasting the whole afternoon, then still not working.

So I really have no idea how their 5 star review coming from.

Never again

""Buy the best and you only cry once"... Words of wisdom from my dad. So I buy the DR 7 hp push style string mower for my 34 acre CA ranch weed eating chore. It works ok but not great, never has made it through a full season of weed eating without breaking down, service from DR is SLOW (ever hear of FedEx??). This might work as a lawn mower on a flat pasture but is not a tool for anything else. It is $700 that sits in the barn now and I LOVE the stihl string mower at the same price point. Never again with DR"

Well, now it is pushed back to Sept

Field and Brush Mower PRO-26, 14.5 HP Electric-Start

"I submitted the below review to DR with 2 stars for the Field and Brush Mower PRO-26, 14.5 HP Electric-Start. I have a feeling that they rarely post any reviews under 3 stars, time will tell.

Receiving the DR mower from the trucking depot was easier than expected, no shipping damage. The mower deck is on its side with the brush bar cable tied to the side of the crate, with no protection between the crate and the brush bar. So now the brush bar is missing 6 inches of paint ¼ inches wide on top, sure it’s a brush bar and will get paint worn off of it but should not be delivered pre-damaged.
After uncrating and assembling the mower started further inspection. The shift leaver was loose the nylon lock nut that holds the shift leaver to the shift leaver mount was not tightened at all only on by a couple of threads, not into the nylon at all. The shift leaver cables were not properly adjusted.
The throttle leaver is also lose the two screws are stripped, will have to drill them out and use a bolts and nuts. For now the throttle leaver is on well enough for testing.
I installed the not included hour meter that I ordered separately. Added oil and gas, the engine started right up, but could not get the engine to idle down. The throttle cable was way out of adjustment.
Started mowing and noticed that in heavy grass the mower tires would stop moving, the traction drive cable was not properly adjusted. I had to adjust the traction drive cable to the end of its adjustment for proper operation.
Overall this mower is a beast I really like the mower. The care used in crating the mower and the assembly / factory adjustments leaves a lot to be desired.

Dr mower breaks after 40 minutes of use

"Long time Dr power customer. I own several of their expensive powered products. The lastest was a $4000.00 pull behind mower that was run once after adding oil and gas and ensuring that it would start up. After that I took it out for 40 minutes of mowing to try it out. Not bad. Turned it off, grabbed a cold drink and tried to start it again. Nope, nothing. Some quick looking d found that the solenoid had fallen off the mower and without that connection to ground wouldn't start again. The two bolts holding it had fallen out and disappeared. To get this machine to the remote property where I keep it had taken a 4 hour roundtrip drive. I called the company right away and talked to a support rep who couldn't figure out what the part was even after a lengthy explanation and repeatedly telling her what it was. Finally I downloaded their manual on my phone and found the part number. That's when the fun started. I asked for two sets of the bolts that hold the part in place because I didn't want to have it fall out again immediately, it didn't have any washers and vibrates tremendously. No way it was going the stay in place. I was told that they couldn't give me an extra set of the $1.20 bolts because they weren't covered by warranty. I had just spent more than $4000.00 on the mower that had run for exactly 40 minutes. No amount of convincing could change their mind. Buyer beware, once they have your money you have no rights and they are completely unsympathetic. I'll be buying elsewhere next time."

"Ordered walk behind weed trimmer. Attempted to cancel 12 hrs after order. Contacted customer service asked that order be cancelled. Customer service in my view deliberately tried to stall, in order to insure order had been shipped. Asked that I be notified by E-mail on status of cancellation. No response. It did not matter that the calls to customer service was being recorded, with the knowledge. "

Over priced replacement parts

"Bought a walk behind rear done tiller. Less than 10 hours of use and the drive belt broke. Seems as though DR is the only place for a replacement. Maybe it's just me but $19.99 is a lot for a 26 x 1/2. Plus 10 more for shipping. 7 to 9 business days. Something is not right here!"

Premature flywheel failure

"I bought a 9.5 chipper shredder less than a year ago to process branches from felled trees. Most all branches chipped were green and around 1" in diameter. I burn anything bigger in the stove. After only about 8-10 hours of use, the machine developed a bad noise at idle and vibration at speed. Turns out the key way in the flywheel is machined poorly and is oversized for a 3/16 key. The key way in the Briggs engine is quite tight by comparison. The sloppy fit essentially swaged and pounded the key to an even smaller size and caused a lot of backlash and noise when at idle when the engine loaded up on the compression stroke. Having spent over 40 years in the machine trades, I was able to fit an oversized key to account for the poorly machined flywheel. It runs well now. I contacted DR to advise them of the problem and my disappointment regarding the premature failure, not really looking for a warranty repair or anything else other than a response of any kind. They have not responded and most likely will not. After all, they have my $700. When you discover a quality issue, fix it yourself, and advise the manufacturer, you would think they would at least acknowledge your input or express some interest in it.. Not in this case. It's quite doubtful I will consider their products in the future."

Beware the return policy

"Bought a reconditioned leaf vac in March. Engine was shot right out of the crate (apparently they didn't do much "reconditioning"). They had me take it to a local small engine shop, who replaced the engine, but it took 3 months. I complained to DR that so much of the 6 month trial/return period was wasted during the repair. At first they said there was nothing they could do, so I told them to pick up the machine. At that point they agreed to restart the 6 month clock (over summer, when I really didn't need the machine). In late October I tried to use it to pick up leaves. It sucked them up well enough, but the bag filled in 3-4 minutes. It took 5-10 to empty it, so it wasn't a very efficient way to remove my leaves. The machine was also clumsy and difficult to handle, especially when the bag was full. I decided to return it and called DR. They did take it back but charged me not only for the return shipping, but also for the initial shipment to me, totaling over $600. "

One Star is Charity

"I purchased a 11.5 chipper /shredder with accessories. The screen accessories illustrated were for the previous model and it turned out that this 2016 model was designed without oversight from DR by the subcontractor that actually manufactured the unit which is located in Pa.

The unit functions very poorly and since it has been completely redesigned after only one year it must have been a real lemon. No offence intended to lemons.

That this must have been a terrible piece of equipment is evidenced by its complete redesign for 2017. It is a one year only product.

At fifteen hundred dollars plus shipping and ancillaries this has been a very bitter experience; money almost completely wasted.

I purchased this equipment based on the purported reputation which DR touts, I could have done better going to harbor freight and purchasing a chipper/shredder of functionally identical qualities at a fraction of the price I paid. If it didn't work at least I could take it back without the hustles.

I will never buy anything marketed by DR again
