" I purchased a refurb Dell 8200 1.8 GHz, 256Mb, CDRW, DVD, WINXPH and it smokes. I saved $450 off the price of a comparable “new” 8200. The only difference was 1.8 vs. 2.0 GHz and I was upgrading from a PII 350 so I don’t notice the difference. They have a 30 day no questions return policy on refurbs in case you get a lemon and the normal warranty after than. My system arrived when promised and has worked flawlessly and I added a wireless nic with no problems. I especially like XP on a system that 4 family members share. "
"Dell has always given us excellent customer service and product quality but my latest order of over $120,000 worth of servers, workstations, upgrades, and software was well over the line on good service and competitive volume pricing. I will always shop here, first."
"Received my Dim 8200. Very Please with the online ordering and easy setup."
"Once again Dell has proven to me they are more conserned about a measly few bucks than they are about customers and their data.
Yesterday I had a user with problems in Outlook. It was doing all kinds of crazy things when trying to type. I ran a virus scan just to be sure it wasn't a virus. No virus. Ran adaware to make sure no spyware was causing the problem. It wasn't. Did a reboot. Chkdsk ran and found bad sectors. It just happenned to be where her .pst file for Outlook was. Thankfully it was recovered in the form of a .chk file.
I then ran IBM's hard drive diagnostic since it is an IBM hard drive and Dell's diagnostics are pitiful. It found bad sectors on the hard drive. I then backed up all important files.
I call up Dell from my desk. I give the above story to the Indian on the other end and he says he has to look up this problem. What the heck is there to look up! The drive has bad sectors and will most likely develop more. He then wants me to do some crap on the machine. One I'm not at the machine since the person needs to work and can't wait while I sit on hold for an hour and then wait for Dell's pitifully slow and worthless disk diagnostic to run. The drive is bad replace it. Its only a 20GB hard drive that brand new would cost $60. They will send a refurbished drive that cost less.
I am so tired of Dell's run around games when it comes to keeping my users up and running.
Dell used to be a good company for support now they are a shody company for just about anything. Do yourself a favor and go with a smaller company that cares about its users. We spend nearly a million dollars a year at Dell and this is the support we get."
"The computer system was received on time, however, the P792 Dell Trinitron monitor was damaged with a large chip on the glass. Returned the monitor for exchange.
They have since shipped to me three(3)incorrect monitors in exchange. All three exchanges were of the inferior P793 non-Trinitron monitor. This is so frustrating and time consuming. The shipping department is either ver dumb or trying to move this inferior monitor. It is costing them in shipping costs both ways.
They will be shipping me another exchange, hopefully, the right monitor without any damage."
"Got a good deal on a great sound card, very quick delivery."
"Ordered in-stock refurbished Altec Lansing ADA880 speakers at a great price. After a couple weeks they cancelled my order - "We regret to inform you that an error created the erroneous appearance of stock supply". Ok, the deal was too good to be true, but these folks are SLOW whether they have the stock or not. I separately ordered a Belkin USB keyboard, and it took forever for the order to show up online and actually get shipped. You'd think they were building the da*n thing to order..."
"Their site is ok to navigate, I have seen better. Kind of a bummer they had to charge sales tax on my order as that negated some of my savings. They don't seem to know where my order is. Part came yesterday and part today but if you go look on their site it still shows it as being processed. The packaging was horrible. One item, a CD-burner, was just tossed in a bigger box and sent. No foam or peanuts or anything so it bounced around the whole way here and we all know how horrible UPS is with package handling. I hope it works ok. I'll probably try them again when I can afford to be left in the dark about my order. (My CD-Burner mentioned above won't ship till the 21st....even though I received it today....) "
"I bought a refurbished Turtle Beach Santa Cruz sound card. It arrived in a timely manner and works great."
"Purchased a Canoscan N1240U scanner using the free shipping and $20 off purcahse over $100. Great price $131 with no S/H costs. Arrived Within 6 days out in Honolulu which is terrrific for our situations. Always have had great service wtih Dell. Just have to watch for those special offerings."
"Great place to deal with, I've ordered numerous times from Dell. From small parts to full blow servers (latest purchase Dell PowerEdge 1200SC). When there has been a problem, they always informed me quickly and offered me alternatives - as well as free shipping, etc. Overall, Dell is hard to beat!"
"Though they take a little longer than some other companies to ship products, the quality of their products was excellent and their prices were fairy attractive when coupled with some online coupons and discounts. Overall quite a positive experience."
