"Edge Micro looked like a good deal pricewise till I actually received the merchandise. The DDR memory I ordered did not work, so I sent it back (@ my cost) to request for it to be replaced. Edge Micro said that they tested it and it worked. They automatically refunded me my money minus restocking, without asking me or giving me the option to correlate their results with my extensive testing. I did not even have the option of sending back the memory(again @ my cost), since they had resold it already. If you recall back in November (returned in December) was when memry shot up 50%, so they made twice what they charged me from some poor sap that might have returned it as well, plus the 15% restocking.

I've been building PCs since 1990 and any reseller who does not even give you a chance to check their test results is not interested in their customers. Any decent shop (online or local) exchanges same items without question. So much for their lifetime warranty on memory. If the price of memory had not gone up they would have sent it back to me!

BTW, I did get the regluar run around that this is their Return policy. Even if I consider this an exchange of a defective product. They say they document it properly, so why not do so on the front page and in their ordering forms if they are really customer oriented.

I wish I had read the post here before ordering. I did read the owners post about a small group of dissatified customers that will never give a company a good rating. I welcome any contact to settle this issue in a fair manner and I will be glad to reevaluate my rating for Edge Micro. Up till now, abyss is not low enough.

5/13 update - Interesting to see how a company that has "customer service as it's top priority" (see response to smcinsjc) take time to beat up a customer in public. Hello!!! The guy is upset after getting a runaround, cut him some slack. Why not beat up someone else like me. I'm still waiting for a comment from you. :)

Yes it is normal to buy cheap with sketchy specs batches of memory (see crunch back in 1999-2000 for semiconductor components) to be able to sell them at a cheap price. Yes the industry does not guarantee wether they will work or not (that is why they were cheap). But a good business model would take ownership for this mistake and not push it on the customer. That is the risk any sap is taking that orders from EDGE MICRO! Sorry to say I belonged to that group.

This company does not only have a bad customer service department they also have a bad procurement departmet (which should be fired for getting the company in this situation).


Two recommendation for this company.

1. Never buy from them. Look at their ratings, it is like the stock market. It looks like a good deal, but the risk that the bottom will fall out of the market is very high.

2. Do not settle for anything less then a full refund. I was talking with a friend who works for credit card complaints in her company and she said you can contest multiple times till you get your full refund. State that the merchandise was defective and don't take their crap that they "tested" it. That was you can minimize your loss to the return shipping.

If anyone is planning to sue this company please let me know.

"Avoid these crooks. Bad service, bad attitude.

Ordered CPU and MB. Paid for 2 day shipping. I got the MB after 2 weeks. 3 for the processor. I got tired of calling to nag them, and waiting for half an hour to talk to some one. At least one of the parts was defective. In addition I ordered 1.1Ghz P3 and got a 1.0Ghz priced 20$ cheaper. I made the mistake of waiting two 17 days from receipt to complain (hey I was out of town, life goes on) thought less then 30 days was a safe buffer. Was informed by lackey of 15 day return policy and no warranty on CPU, their answer return CPU to manufacturer. I can find no mention of the return policy on my invoice or their web site. I think any reputable shop is interested in customer satisfaction. I will be taking this up with my CC company next.

"Total losers.

Ordered a motherboard from them, listed as in-stock on pricewatch.com. I called them the next day to make sure it really was in stock, and they said it wasn't, and that they don't really stock much of anything. They just order things when they get an order. In my case they hadn't even ordered it yet, so I told them to cancel. They said there would be a $25 charge to cancel the order, even thought they hadn't shipped it or even ordered it yet.

I told them to cancel anyway and he said okay. A month later I got my bill and found I had been charged the full amount. I checked their site and it showed my order as 'in process'. I tried calling but couldn't get through (busy signals), so I submitted a dispute to my credit card company. A couple days later I got through to Edge Micro and the rep said the order had already been cancelled, and they would issue a credit. I assume if I hadn't called they wouldn't have bothered to issue any credit. They credited my card, but $15 less than the charge. My credit card company settled the dispute by making up the $15 themselves.

The rep I spoke to originally was probably more candid than he should have been. When I asked why I should pay them $25 when they hadn't done anything he said that was their policy. When I asked to speak to a manager he said no. Why? "Because that's what I'm here for." He said I could request a manager call me back, but since it was regarding a policy issue they probably wouldn't bother.
