"It takes some time, and the process could be a little more 'honest'- You often receive matches that are very likely 'dead profiles'. When I first began using the service, it would say 'Active more than a month ago' or some such to show that the people were probably not actively using their profiles. This was recently taken away, possibly to hide the number of inactive people so they can market the service better with claims of so many profiles. Seems a bit of dishonesty from a company with supposedly religious roots.
That being said, if you take the time to wade through the masses of dead profiles, there is a good chance of success on eH. MUCH more than the other services. I tried the other cheaper/free services as well and at the same time. eH's process is much more streamlined, very safe, and the people who pay the higher fees of eH seem to actually be interested in finding a relationship.
I have been exclusively dating someone I met on eH for going on 2 months now and, though I know it's still early, I truly believe I've found my person. So I can't take that away from the service!! Fix the dead profiles problem, and this would be one of the most effective, best run, honest, worth-every-penny companies I've ever encountered."
"I met my fiance on eHarmony August of 2012 within a week! Both of us joined roughly the same time. Me being the savvy on somehow figured out how to receive a 6 month subscription at the price of 3. Little did I know I wouldn't need nearly that amount of time.
Derrick set his profile to match him with young ladies within a small radius of Jacksonville, NC, but somehow he did not save the preferences correctly and was place as my match all the way in Atlanta, GA.
I of course thought he was "the perfect match" and contacted him first through the eHarmony question and answer process. He was very stand offish which I attributed to his Engineering background, maybe he was a bit socially akward, which would also explain why he was on eHarmony. I mean a young aerospace engineer, former NC State football player with no kids, too good to be true, right?
Well come to find out he, not having a lot of experience on the dating site yet, actually had no idea how to view pictures and profiles of matches he was conversing with. He didn't want to win over someone he hasn't even seen yet. But I tell you I knew exactly when he discovered my profile. The conversations flourished from there on out.
We went on our first date in my hometown. He actually picked me up from my parent's house with a flour and a dog toy for my puppy. Brownie points! The date lasted 10hrs and I took him everywhere in my little tiny hometown. This started the beginning of an awesome relationship.
We were married November 22 2014 and are expecting December 12 2015!"
"I think the concept is great, but in reality, it doesn't work. Almost every match I get states they are just outside my match criteria - almost every one??? You may get 10 - 15 matches a day, but they are mostly from NH, RI, and CT, not areas I would consider for a relationship as I am from MA. I closed up the distance and my matches went down to about one per day and EH is still saying they are just outside my match criteria???? I know EH has nothing to do with the quality of people using the services, but I thought the people on EH would be more open to a relationship and more courteous than other websites (have no experience, only used EH), but that is not the case. "
"I met Larry back in August 2013 and got married by the end of that year with no doubts in our hearts that we had found each other's perfect match, best friend and soul mate. We couldn't be happier. We get along so well that it's amazing! EHarmony did the hardest job for us. Since the day we met on EHarmony, we had never been apart. We are very grateful for EHarmony as an instrument from God for us to finally find each other. THANKS EHARMONY!"
"Most the time I do not respond to these ads, but Eharmony is very over rated. When I visit Cherry blossoms.com, they at least let you chat to the person without the hassle. With Eharmony, I have to give that person my e-mail or yahoo messenger then delete them If I am not interested.
I seen to many repeats from e-harmony after I deleted them off. For some people, e-harmony is fine, I like to interact with who I am writing back and forth with, so many questions that e-harmony asks does not refer to myself. I would not tell people to use e-harmony, to much money for what you are getting. good luck to everyone."
"I could not be more happy with my experience on Eharmony. I really liked how the only people that I could communicate with were those in which I was a match. The questions and make it or break it sections made communicating easy and gave me a sense of ease since it helped to "break the ice". Within a month of signing up, I began talking to my now fiancé. We are getting married next May and I couldn't be more excited! We are absolutely perfect for one another and I have never felt more right about someone.
The only suggestions that I could make are letting the user choose a state because I live so close to NYC that most of my matches were for there. I don't feel comfortable traveling alone, so any of those relationships would not have worked. Also, if there was any way to see why you were matched if you work out. My fiancé and I always try to figure out what on our profiles made us a match.
Thank you Eharmony for helping me meet my other half. "
"Instead of adding more basic features, eH has chosen to take them away. You can no longer see when a member was last active and you have to pay extra if you want to know if your message has been read. Not happy."
"I met the love of my life on eHarmony, Jeff Meoli. I originally joined in 2011 and met someone else who I dated for less then three months first. Disappointed and tired, I was hesitant to jump back in the saddle. However, I reactivated my eHarmony account, and Jeff was the last connection who had reached out before I deactivated my account at the beginning of my first relationship. We exchanged dozens of emails rapidly, and met close to a week after we started contact. Within two hours of our first meeting, we were holding hands. We first went to Beacon Hill Pub, then Hamersley's Bistro on Tremont Street. Notoriously shy, Jeff toasted at dinner to our future. I don't know how we would have met otherwise, and I'm so grateful to eHarmony for helping me find the gentlest, sweetest, most devoted boy I've ever met. "
"Five+ years after our first meeting, I remain happily married to my eH match 4+years. Thanks eH!!"
"I found my wife via eharmony, thus I am very happy. Would recommend to anyone."
"I met the man of my dreams on Eharmony. A little over a year after our first date, he proposed. We are getting married in June of 2016, and I could not be happier! I never thought it would happen for me, but I gave Eharmony a chance, and I am thrilled with the results. Jeff and I are not perfect people, but we are perfect for each other!"
"I have been largely disappointed. The vast majority of my matches have been inactive, having not logged on for a month or more."
"I've been hopeful but to no avail. I get very few matches and when I do the are often states away or do not have pictures. I appreciate the fact that the matches I do get are quality people, but only 5 or 6 times did I find them attractive. Is there really no one in the LA area that fit my desires? "
"I meet my soul mate on EHarmony we started talking and within a year we were married.. still happily in love "
"Cliche--yes! "I found my true love on Eharmony." As a not-ready-for-silver-sneakers senior, I had a difficult time knowing where I could meet someone for companionship and a possible lasting relationship. I had heard good things about Eharmony from friends and acquaintances who had found or knew someone who had found a great match. So... I thought why not. After signing up and answering what seemed like a thousand questions, I browsed for free for a few weeks. Some of the matches sent me smiles and some sent questions so I decided to upgrade and see what would happen. I responded to a local gentleman who had sent a smile and we proceeded to the "Let's go to dinner." phase in record time. That was our first date and we were so well-suited, it seemed as though we had known (and been looking for) each other for years. He is truly my soulmate and it certainly looks like our second date will never end. "
