Policy / paper work is out of control along with the insurance price.

"I filled out app to early. OMG... had to send letter to request you to stop the app. Reapplied again. Lots of extra steps for your staff and me. The cost, I will never be able to use this insurance as I don't have that high deductible! The poor can go, put not me and lots of other people ...Fair????? To answer your question, the staff at eHealth are great, but your paper pushing is out of control."

Concerned

"My initial customer representative, Wayne Hamilton did a very nice job of explaining the program at a high level and getting me started.

My subsequent calls were somewhat confusing and created a sense of concern:

1. When asked about the Family deductible and Family out of pocket, I received two different answers from two different representatives. (Note to mention that the wording is misleading in general. The deductible is labeled family and for my program $2,500. The reality is that this is $2,500 per person. The out of pocket is added to that. In my case, the out of pocket labeled as Family says $5000. Rep 1 said that my total out of pocket would be 6X$2,500 + 6 X $5000 or $45,000. Rep 2 said that my total out of pocket would be 6X$2,500 + $5000. This is inconsistent and concerning. I am not sure of the right answer at this point by my last discussion regarding this topic with Rep2 is what I am going with.)
2. When asked for a payment, an option was presented for AMEX. When electronically signing, there was no option to charge the FACT membership to the AMEX. When I spoke with Rep3, he said AMEX was not accepted. When I reviewed the application with him, he said that since AMEX was available as an option on the website, I must be able to pay with AMEX. This is inconsistent and concerning. I am going with Rep3 final statement and signed with my AMEX as the payment as there was not option to add VISA or MasterCard for FACT.
3. FACT being required is a concern. It would have been good for any of the Reps to explain that rather than "you just have to do it."
4. FACT cancellation is not clearly described. I had to call Rep3 to learn how to cancel FACT as I am only signing up for a short term insurance program. I was told that the only way to cancel FACT is to contract eHealth and speak with an agent. I would prefer an option to automatically terminate FACT with the policy which has a termination.
5. The first appearance of "Golden Rule" was in the signature workflow. I did not understand the relationship between Golden Rule and United Healthcare. This seemed inconsistent and created concern.
6. The Follow up calls - I understand that I had a lot of questions but after the first call, the interaction with the Reps was not as good as the first interaction. It was if they were not going to get commission credit for the sale and were more concerned with getting me off the phone.
7. Total experience - I walk away with a question of whether or not I am doing a smart thing by putting this insurance in place and whether or not I am really dealing with United Healthcare.

I hope this will be of use to someone within the organization, and that other potential customers will benefit based on any changes that the organization may make to address any of these topics.

Best Insurance Plans I Have Seen So Far

"I couldn't be happier with the service I have received. Living in Georgia I have seen truly terrifying statistics lately of how more and more hard-working Americans are not able to maintain health coverage under these god-awful reform laws. It just makes me happy that there are sites that categorize things in a way that shows they care. The prices are a lot higher than they were 10 years ago, but the staff is friendly, highly knowledgeable and the insurance plans are better than any that I have seen thus far. I recommend this site for anybody that can qualify for coverage."

Make it easier to save a copy

"The print or save a copy option on a mobile device knocked me out of the application interface. Since everything else went so well, that was pretty glaring. I found my way back to complete the application, but not everyone will...
If it is not advisable to go through the application process on a phone or iPad you do have to spell that out.

I wasn't at all happy with the option I selected. The deductible is really high on the plan that is most affordable in terms of monthly payments... I'm scared I won't be able to pay that deduct able, but needed to choose something, so selected the best of the worst. It was painful to review the limited options.

"I was talking on the phone to Erin Welch about medical coverage and in the middle of my speaking, she hung up on me. I know it was not disconnected because she has my number and never called me back. She became impatient with my many questions about my options. I would advise everyone against using Erin Welch."

"EHealthInsurance.com was very helpful in sorting through plans by $ deductible and annual coverage limit. I found the site easy to use and the application process was smooth. This is actually not standard in the insurance industry with many carriers using paper forms and tedious outdated PDF documents. "I was searching for health insurance coverage for a family member who only needs coverage for a couple of months until the insurance at his new job kicks in. After searching the Internet for a site on which to compare different plans, I was happy to finally find yours. I don't want to have to speak to a person. I like to read the different choices and make the decision myself. So many of the other sites make you enter all your information and then wait for someone to call. I'm intelligent enough to decide for myself. So, I appreciate that your site allows me that option. However, if I did need help, I had the option of live chat. The run-around

"Purchased a health plan on Thursday under the details provided on the site. After taking my money within minutes and issuing my plan I learned in the sent brochure that the numbers and deductibles were so high that the plan was complete trash. I called my doctor to see if they take the insurance, they never heard of this company and said no...even though my plan says it can be used at any doctor of any kind of my choosing... The next day I decided to contact EHealth and the Insurance company to quickly cancel and be refunded....

I have spent a total of 3 hours on hold without talking to a single person through EHealth. I initiated the chat feature where a completely different policy was shown under my name, email, number, and phone. After spending 45mins getting this straightened out with 3 different attempts in the website's chat (All names are generic) they finally got the right policy pulled up and told me I have to call them to cancel.

The insurance company requires a written request for cancellation and they refuse to do this over the phone. All in all I have spent 3 days trying to get some kind of information or speak to a person who can help me. In the mean time I have been getting dozens upon dozens of phone calls to my cell phone at all hours of the day and night with "agents" of health care insurance calling me about my "application I filled out online". EHealth is the only website I have used and they have solicited my cell/work number to nearly 140 call centers across the country as I have learned from the many callers.

So now, with absolutely no help or even the simple action of speaking to someone.... It is obvious that if I were to actually need help with my policy for information of any kind...I will be spending my very limited time being re-directed to more phone numbers that have yet to provide me an actual person.

Avoid dealing with this website. It seems more like a "basement setup" than an actual business with employees. All online chats are pre-scripted with answers that show NO actual response to you on an individual level.
